"For Those Who Don't Cook"
I don't cook (I can, I just don't because I live by myself and hate eating leftovers, and it's cheaper for me to eat out), but when I do, this piece does what I need it to do. I have to admit that I purchased this set because it was aesthetically pleasing; it looks great on top of my counter and fools people into thinking that I really use my kitchen. I think that the manufacture made it clear that the knives WILL RUST if not dried IMMEDIATELY. We were all warned, so I don't think it fair to complain.

"Do not buy this item"
Very low quality. After about a week of use the knives have rusted. I Do not recommend this item.

"A great buy!"
I read what everyone else said about these knifes rusting and decided that the price was worth the risk. I have had no problems with them at all, that said I think they could have been sharper, but I can fix that. If you take care of these knifes (don't leave them to sit for days on end in water or dirty) they will take care of you. Be sure to hand wash and hand dry when your done with them and you'll be ok.

"Great Bargain"
My husband had just purchased a Faberware cleaver, which he just loves, so I did not hesitate when I saw this great bargain. These knives are top quality and works for every possible job in the kitchen. In addition I do not need to worry about storage since the handy pine block sits within easy reach on our countertop.

"Would rate worse if it weren't for the price!"
We were so excited at how much was included for the price of this set! Overall, a great value, but you get a $20 set of knives. We noticed small rust spots the first time we washed these - there is no excuse for that!! Other than that, we were happy with the block and how much is included in this set. This set will do for the short-term.

What our customer's say!

"A steal for the price", I got this set for $29.99 shipped free which was a steal. They are good knives, very sharp, and the extras included in the set are great. They look very nice on the counter. They are a decent weight, but could be a little heavier and better balanced, but overall, I am very happy with them.

"They rust and the blade is flimsy", This set is attractive because it is inexpensive and has a variety of knives, but a smaller and more expensive set is worth the investment because these knives rust very easily. They have to be washed and towel-dried immediately after each use or they will rust a lot. Also, the blade is rather flimsy and they need to be sharpened often.

"Farberware Impulse Buy", This was an impulse buy right before Thanksgiving, which is unlike me, as I will generally check out a product before purchase. After I came home, I researched Farberware knives and there were some negative comments, so I was concerned that I would have to deal with returning this product. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The knives look good and they were sharp. I did, however, need to sharpen two of the large knives. I don't know if this was due to manufacturing, or if I just like exceptionally sharp knives. The knives have held their edge and I am pleased with this product.

Two negatives: 1-the scissors included in this set could have come from the dollar store. They are cheap and pretty useless; 2-I wish there was the option of storing these knives flat--I don't like the look of this big butcher block on our counters. It doesn't match my kitchen and the block is about 2 inches too long to hide inside any of my cabinets.

"Beware of promises", I ordered some home items worth 100$ and was supposed to get a 20$ certificate by 25th sept. I have written 4 time but I have neither received a reply nor my certificate.I am deeply dissappointed with the service of Amazon.I have been a faithful customer and this is not the service I expect from Amazon.

"So Far So Good!", I have had these knives for a month now. Please understand that I do NOT do dishes, so my knives are likely left in a shocking state to kitchen fanatics until my husband finally washes and dries them in the dishwasher. Other reviewers have said how terribly these knifes rust. I have to say I haven't seen any of this so far though!

I needed a new set of knives and this one was $100 at my local mall. For a 1/3 of the price on Amazon its stylish and a great buy! It has 2 sets of scissors so I can finally have one to open bags and one to use on food. Much better!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Knife Set", I have been purchasing Farberware for many years, and as always, this knife set lives up to their reputation ... they are so good I purchased a second set as a gift.

"A sharp buy for a starting cook", Knives are a real challenge for a cook. I vividly remember my early cooking days trying to prepare meals with low cost department store/discount store knives. Bad knives mean slow preparation, poor quality cuts and frustration.

Great knives on the other hand require an investment that most starting or part-time cooks simply can't justify. Higher quality "never need sharpening" knives can be useful but are generally limited. What is needed are knives with real blades, that can be sharpened, that have the right weight and are at a low cost. These knives come very close...

Pro's
--Cost is very low(lower than most "low quality" sets and 100s lower than high end knife sets).
--Blades are good.
--Includes a large variety of knives and scissors. In particular two cleavers.
--Good set of steak knives

Con's
--Handles are small...the balance is affected and cutting quality and speed will be impacted.
--Blades do need to be dried after hand washing...rust can occur otherwise but this is steel that NEEDS sharpening.
--Blade weight could be better.

I bought these as a set of knives for a second kitchen(my other is in fact a higher end set also by Farberware). I like having slicer, cleaver etc. nearby so I can use the right tool for the job at hand. If you are looking for a set of knives that has a good selection of blades and have a tight budget I can't imagine a better set. In particular if you are not a full time cook this is a low cost way to get real knives into your kitchen.

"Absolutely disgusted, but only because I don't like rust.", If you're an avid fan of rust then by all means, buy these knives. I've had mine for a little less than a month and my wife and I always hand washed them. They RUSTED in the drying rack. We're not talking about days or months submerged, nope just overnight in the rack will do. I swear they had little rust speckles right out of the box. I should have known better though because I read a review like this one, but ignored it so I guess I got mine. Farberware must have specially engineered the stainless steel to rust faster. I am severely dissapointed, and unless you like rust you will be too. oh, and they hold a terrible edge, but I'm not a chef so that really didn't bother me.

"Farberware Cutlery", I have had them about a month now and they are a good quality (not top of the line-but good) knife set. I am not that fond of the steak knives-but in general they are well worth the price. What IS worth the price of any Farberware is their customer service which I find (over the 40 years of mommy and housekeeping experience) to be well above expectations. From pots to knives to tongs they stand behind their stuff and they offer a complete range of quality as well. If you want top of the line-they have it and if you want "good enough for the likes of me" they have that too.
No complaints and would make a nice gift too.

"THEY RUST", I've had these 2 months. Don't let them sit in any kind of water. They will RUST.
