Others say...

"I like it - solid, adjustable, easy to clean."
Seems really solid and easy to clean. The round roller pops out very easily to adjust for three different thicknesses - or you could leave it off for thicker, free form cuts. It is held in place by two posts that fit in a set of three different thickness holes on the handle. One post on the roller is spring loaded, so you just slide the roller sideways and it comes right out (like the bar that is used to connect a watch band to a watch). It comes with an extra wire also.

This is so much better than my last one. The old one had a set screw that was supposed to allowed you to move the roller to change thickness. It was not graduated, so finding a match for a previous slice size, was only with much experimentation and luck. The screw was hard to turn, and eventually impossible without pliers and it didn't hold the roller parallel to the wire, you had to force it back and forth to get it even. The roller could get gunked up at the connection posts - and there was a space between the roller holder and handle that couldn't be washed without disassembly.

The Trudeau solves all of those problems in an elegant and simple way.

"The most durable and functional cheese slicer we've found"
Our household is hard on cheese slicers. The Trudeau is the best one we've found -- it is truly adjustable (choice of three settings). Of course, the slicing wire eventually breaks, but it comes with a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement doesn't include new screws, and when it broke one of the screws went missing.
Grrrr. But we bought another Trudeau...it lasted about five times longer than the closet rival brand.

"Worked great but wires broke, trying out warranty"
This is the best hand-held slicer I've had. Its weight, size, design and sturdiness makes it easy to use. I bought this because it has a 5-yr warranty and I was tired of buying new cheese slicers all the time because of wires breaking. The first wire broke about 3 months after purchase. The replacement wire lasted 6 months. The replacement wire is hard to get in but once I got a pair of needle-nose pliers to help get the 2nd side in...no problem.

I just made an online claim and as long as they honor the claim and send me a replacement slicer or wires I'll be happy.

"Better than the rest."
Well, I'm back for a second slicer after my two wires did break. Too bad I didn't keep the first broken wire as the one person said they have a 5 year replacement warranty... I have had many slicers that all break, I like this one the best so far mostly because of the replacement wire (even though it can be very tricky to get in). I've realized that I will replace slicers at least every other month (with eating about 2 1/2 lbs of cheddar cheese a week). We have kids and I don't want them using the sharp knives so, I'm buying another. I've had Kitchen Aid and other nice ones, but I'll stick with this kind, it's been 10 months since I bought it, which lasted much longer than any other. This time I'll keep the reciept, and the parts for when it breakes and maybe get a free third one.

"Not good for left-handed users"
I can't figure out why it would make a difference which hand is used with this product, but so far, when I've tried to use it (with my left hand), the roller immediately falls off. This happened three times in a row. I was attempting to cut a nice smooth block of cheddar cheese. When my girlfriend tried it (she's right-handed) it worked fine and the roller didn't fall off. I would return it, but it's not worth the bother, and I already threw away the package. Anyway, I'm able to use it without the roller attached at all (just with the wire), though I don't have as much control over the thickness of the slices. I guess I'll try again in the future with a different piece of cheese, but I'm not optimistic!

What our customer's say!

"Great tool and works with all types of cheeze", This has been a great addition to our kitchen. Providing different cheeze thicknesses, being easy to clean and sturdy!

"High quality cheese slicer", This is the best cheese slicer I have ever owned. I love the adjustable wheel that makes it possible to select the thickness of the slice and also the extra wire. The whole slicer is strong and made of heavy gauge steel and has a very well designed and easy-to-grip handle. It's the last cheese slicer I will ever need to purchase.

"So far, so good. . .", I've had a couple cheese slicers before this but they were not as sturdy. I've only used this one a few times, but it seems well made.

"Trudeau Adjustable Cheese Slicer ", The product works (Sturdy).
As advertized, you can set the cheese cutter to three different cheese cutting widths and they give you an extra cutting wire just in case. We have used it numerous times with no problems. Cutting up bars of cheese with this product is very easy which was the main reason we bought it.

"Are you interested in health improvement?", I was impressed with the build quality of this slicer. I also liked the replaceable wire feature, in case it breaks. The novel method of adjusting for thickness of slices was ingenious, too. However, the metal roller is made of aluminum. Personally, I do not want aluminum in any kitchen product to contact the food I eat. The health hazards of aluminum are considerable, and are well established. I cannot recommend this product to anyone who is concerned about improving their health. To me, improving one's health is a far more important issue than convenience or ease of use. I have decided to use steel knives to cut cheese instead, although it may take longer, or be more difficult to do.

"better than the others", I bought four cheese slicers and returned three. This is definitely the best.

"Cheese slicer", I am very happy with this item. It does a good job of slicing cheese. I would have liked it better had it been a little smaller. It is a good sturdy tool.

"Macho Cheese Slicer", This is a hefty kitchen tool--large, heavy, chrome. It fits comfortably in the hand and is easy to guide. I'm not sure why there are three "thickness" settings, since I've always been able to cut both thin and thick slices with a grocery-store-type cheese slicer by simply changing the angle of my hand as I slice: upright for thick slices, flatter for thin ones. This slicer works very well for me, and I had no trouble removing and replacing the wire. One slight inconvenience: when I hand-wash the slicer, the roller (the "adjustable" part of it) always falls out and has to be put back in. The slicer comes with a spare wire, and if you can remember where you store it, this unit should last for a long time. I'd recommend it.

"Best Handheld Cheese Slicer", The Trudeau Adjustable Cheese Slicer is simply the best handheld cheese slicer I've ever used. It's ergonomic, sturdy, smoothly operating, easy to adjust and easy to clean.

"Had high hopes for this one....", I really liked it. It's a sturdy product with a great feel. Best one I've ever had until the wire broke. No problem!! It came with an extra wire. However, no one in my family can get the new wire in place! It appears to be a smidgen (very precise term of measurement....) too short. I get one little "cube" in place, but the other doesn't stretch far enough to get into its hole. My husband & I fiddled with it for a week. I wrote to the company, asking for help. I asked if there was a trick to using the replacement wire. I also expressed an interest in purchasing extra wires (to have on hand in case it breaks again). The instructions I received was a scan of the back of the packaging, telling me how to adjust the wire for different widths. *sigh* That wasn't the problem. I also found out that they do not sell replacement wires! You only get the one that comes with it. However I commend the company for their quick reply, and for their warranty. There is a 5 year warranty, and they will replace the entire slicer if both wires break. You do have to send in the "damaged" one. It really would be a whole lot simpler if they explained how to replace the wire, and offered additional wires (free or for a nominal fee) to their customers.
