"Taking it back 1st thing tomorrow" Opened it this evening and it's going back to the store for a refund tomorrow. The steam is very hot but the wand isn't heavy enough to remove the wrinkles. The hose gets extremely hot to the touch. The telescopic wand that holds the clothes is very flimsey and constantly moves when trying to iron a shirt. The hose is too short. Does not work well on a flat surface. It's to bad I had to give this a star at all just to review it. "Unhappy customer" I ordered a Convair Fabric Steamer through Amazon and tried many, many times through emails, and telephone calls to find the status of this order. Finally I called the company who was to ship the item and they told me the order had been canceled and that Amazon should have notified me. Which they did not. So --- customer --- beware! "Disappointing" I had hoped that this product would replace our iron for all the work shirts my husband irons each week. Unfortunately it did little more than make the shirts damp. We decided to return the steamer for a refund. "Doesn't work!" Steam comes out but it doesn't get any wrinkles out!! I used to work in retail clothes and used a professional steamer, I thought this would work the same way, but it hasn't taken a single wrinkle out of anything in my house:-( "Great Steamer" I just purchased my second Conair steamer, the first one , well after 7 years wasnt steaming like it used to. After opening the machine up we discoverd the lines were clogged with setiment from the water. I read everywhere that people dont like this machine for the very reason. Bottom line, you have to use distilled water to avoid build up. ( I stopped using distilled , my bad) This is a great machine for the money.

What our customer's say! "No More Ironing At Our House", This steamer is great! It is fast and efficient. It takes a little practice to learn to use it properly but it is definitely worth the effort. "I'm no steamer pro, but I love my steamer!", Understanding that I have never used much less owned a steamer before this, I can not explain how incredibly happy I am with this product! I use it exclusively for delicate clothes or t-shirts that can not be ironed or look strange if they are ironed. I still use my iron regularly for heavier duty clothes, but for draping tops and dresses, THIS IS A MIRACLE WORKER! You plug it in and it starts to warm up and gets hot in about a minute. There's plenty of steam - I wrap the head of the steamer in a thin kitchen towel so that any condensation doesn't drip onto the fabric I'm steaming and I still get plenty of kick. I'm sure higher end models are fancier and better in many aspects - but I wouldn't use a steamer for everything and I don't use it every day. This is for people (like me) who need a few garments in their wardrobe occasionally steamed wrinkle free - it's not for the going-pro seamstress, or the person who wants to throw out their iron. The only downside (and it's not terrible) is that it's pretty big, so you have to have decent closet space to keep it out of eyesight. I'd purchase one again in a heartbeat. "I no longer use my iron.", My sister received one of these for Christmas and raved about it. I bought one and agree - it is great! I truly have not used my iron since I bought it. I've used it on shirts, pants, jeans, Cashmere and regular sweaters and jackets. The only criticism is that I wish it had a pole that extended as a hanger instead of the hanger that comes with it. I end up holding some items on a hanger to steam them. Wouldn't hesitate to buy one for that reason though. "Awkward to use.", This device is not user friendly. The steam is either on or off, no in between. The hose is rigid and inflexible, and changing angles while working on a garment would often loosen the connection (where the hose connects to the tank) causing steam/water to spit out. The steam produced did seem adequate, but that does not make up for the other issues. I have replaced this with a more compact, higher-wattage product that has a cloth, flexible hose. "conair fabric steamer review", GS10RH conair fabric steamer works good, but hose has to be kept upright in a vertical position or steam converted to water will concentrate in hose producing less steam. With this in mind and in practice the unit provides an acceptable performance. Easier than ironing a plus. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Stay away from this piece of junk", Anyone who thinks this is good has never worn laundered or ironed clothing in their life. You can iron a dozen shirts in the time it takes to steam one. Everything gets wet, stays wet, wrinkles that did disappear (when you can get them to) reappear after the wetness dries; steam is water after all, DUH! my kids said: out of mouths of babes... What a piece of junk: STAY AWAY, STEAM ALONE WILL NEVER GET WRINKLES OUT OF REAL CLOTHES. Only thing this thing is good at is adding moisture to the air, and building humidity. Junk, garbage, trash, by an iron or buy wrinkle-free clothing, or go to laundromats for life. STEAM ALONE IS NOT GOOD. Oh, and you can't return this piece of crap either: they forget to tell you that before you get it and read the small print. "It was great on my most important day, but died after.", For my wedding in Vegas, I brought along a Rowenta handheld (purchased from JC Penney) which died immediately. Ran to the nearest mall to return it and picked up on this huge Conair steamer that seemed the only thing that would work for my huge wedding gown. It worked great on my gown, my Mother's dress and my sister-in-law's dress. I used it two more times and a year later it heated up, but didn't heat the water. Too strange, so I tossed it. I was willing to give Conair another try considering they always worked for my hair care appliances. I purchased this Conair Compact from Fry's Electronics. Conair GS4 Compact Fabric Steamer I've had no problems yet. The tubing will get hot (with all steamers), but holding it with a washcloth will help. I've also noticed that as long as there is ventilation out the top of the garment, you should not get burned. "Piece of junk", Received this as a gift and am glad I didn't pay for it! It leaked every time I turned it on and never generated the steam I needed to get the job done. Total waste. "Not worth anything", If you buy this, I wish you better luck than I had. It made a puddle on the kitchen floor as it heated up, and the steam was not sufficient to do much of anything. Forwarned is forarmed. "Love it. . . use it almost daily", Great for slacks, shirts, sweaters, even curtains. I just need to remember to check the tank. Built a wall board covered in inside-outside carpeting and hang up whatever I am steaming. Works fantastic. One of the best products I've purchased through Amazon. Have it almost a year. Use it almost daily. Use my iron rarely now. |
