Others say...
"Good coffee if you can get the basket back in to make it" This coffee maker is a frustrating piece of high priced junk. It has a basket that is to be removed to dump your filter, but god help you if you do. It is nearly impossible to get the basket back IN to the coffeemaker. You'll be trying for 24 and then give up in disgust. I own it..I know. Buy something else. "Makes great coffee, if you can get to the basket." Initially, I loved this coffee maker, it was so easy to use. After a few months of using it, I find the swing-open unit, that holds the grinds basket, gets stuck after you close it. It's nearly impossible to open it again. After I spent several minutes struggling with it, my husband said, "Oh, I thought it was just me." The coffee pours too fast out of the pot, something that took several times to get use to. It makes great coffee, but I would not buy this maker again. "Delicious Java" Many refer to me as somewhat of "coffee snob". I'm always searching for that great cup of java. This is the second DeLonghi coffee pot I've owned and makes an incredible cup of coffee. Definately brews a great tasting treat! "This coffeemaker is what it is, and it's a bargain." This coffeemaker is, first and last, a bargain. For the person who drinks two cups or less a day, this is a dependable coffeemaker that won't take up the space of a family-sized coffeemaker. There are a couple of design flaws, but nothing that affects the qualify of the coffee. (The handle forces your hand too near the top of the carafe, exposing your bare hand to hot steam while pouring; and the coffee is a bit too hot after sitting in the carafe - so beware if you let it sit awhile before drinking.) I also found that after 3 months of daily use the coffee failed to drain from the basket. To eliminate that problem I run vinegar through the coffeemaker once a month (be sure to follow up with a plain water cycle). BUT, these are minor problems that you could find in a $200 coffeemaker. All in all, it's not a bad buy if you are specifically looking for a small coffeemaker. "Italian styling doesn't matter in the end" Previous reviewers were right: the plastic smell is intense and does not go away. Too bad.

DeLonghi 4-Cup Drip Coffee Makers
What our customer's say! "Fine, Fast, Hot, Small", This fine looking little device is the second Delonghi 4-cup coffee maker that I have owned. The first had the dewar flask carafe and no warmer and the coffee wasn't really hot enough. Lots of microwave action for second cups with that one. This one has the glass carafe and a warmer; MUCH Better. It has the permanent filter but I put in a paper filter anyway. The first lasted nearly three years before the switch failed, more than acceptable for this inexpensive and reliable little unit. It makes coffee fast and strong and just the right amount for a quick big mug to wake up and another after my morning dog walk. Later mid-morning coffee is managed by making a fresh pot of great tasting coffee (I prefer Community Club Dark Roast). One has a tendency to grip the carafe handle with ones fingers and rest ones thumb above on the flip-up lid lever (This is similar in sprit to riding the brake in your vehicle). The effect is to raise the lid just enough for the coffee to pour out all around the lip of the carafe and the result is spilled coffee while pouring. Do not do that. Like all makers with the steal-a-cup feature, if one only partially inserts the carafe then the valve will not open and coffee and grounds will overflow. Do not do that either. I would recommend it to tho others (I have) and I would buy it again (I did.) "Too Hot", I would not recommend buying this coffee maker. Getting the water into the reservoir is a clumsy feat at best. But worse, when pouring the last third of the hot coffee out of the pot, the lid falls open allowing the steam to scald your knuckles. I wish I could have gotten another Krups 4-cup but they've stopped making them. "makes good coffee", this coffeemaker makes very good coffee but i wish the design was better - the gadget that makes the coffee stop and release just hangs in the back and if you hit it the wrong way it could fall and the opening of the pot is so small to fit your hand in to wash - also you have to hold the pot just right when you pour or it spills "Excellent tasting coffee", This is my second DeLonghi and I'm completely satisfied with this product. Only replaced the original to satisfy my wife...warming plate was a little burned from coffee drips over the years . "DON'T BUY THIS COFFEE MAKER!!!!!!!", I purchased this coffee maker with birthday money and am extremely disappointed. The average coffee temperature is 160 degrees. This coffee maker ranged from 100-110 degrees, thus lacking the flavor, irregardless of premium, freshly ground coffee. I contacted both the store where I purchased and the manufacturer and they had the nerve to tell me that's what you get for paying $20.00 for a coffee maker. I have usedMr.Coffee, coffee makers in the past with success, but this was on sale and I THOUGHT the Delonghi brand was a higher class since it is made by Cuisinart. OBVIOUSLY I WAS WRONG! The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it does not take up alot of space and came with a insulated carafe. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Worst coffee maker I had", It is really the worst coffee maker I had. It is too slow, the automatic stopper always breakes and the coffee pot is useless, because you can not pour in a cup without making a mess "Good Coffee...impossible to keep clean", This unit makes quite good coffee and the design is very attractive. However cleaning it is very time consuming and frustrating. "Perfect for its job!", I bought this little coffee maker for a group of 4 people that work near me. We all love to have our coffee right there, and not in the break room downstairs. The coffee tastes fine, and the design is unintrusive. Very pleased with its simplicity. "average", This little coffeemaker looks nice in its space, and makes good coffee due to slow drip, however, the carafe is very difficult to pour from without spilling on the counter. Coffee is generally hot. I would not recommend unless you are intent on buying only a 4-cup. "Works fine in the office", I purchased this for my office. It works fine in that capacity. I haven't had any problems with spilling; maybe I'm just a bit more patient. The biggest problem I see is the warming plate. It keeps the coffee very hot- too hot! It will over cook what's left in the pot. Otherwise it's fine for me. ![]() |
