Others say...

"Love this product!"
I ordered this after my sister told me what a great product it is. I whole heartedly agree. I keep it in my laundry room and use it on clothes right from the dryer. Works so well!

"Rowenta Garment Steamer"
Professional Garment Steamer

Excellent quality steamer, & fast shipping. Removes creases in all garments; blouses, pants, skirts, etc. saving lots of cleaning bills. I would recommend this item highly. Also easy to use and maintain.

"Cheap hose - tore after 3 months"
The steam is adequate for what it is but the hose is so thin that it bends too easily cutting off the steam. It has a spring to help it keep from bending over on itself, but is too short to do what it was intended for. The hose tore at the top of the spring after about 3 months of light duty. I would look at the Jiffy brand the next time around and look at the hose more carefully, thickness, support measures, etc....

"good review"
The product is wonderful. I love the storage compartment. this is my second steamer and this time I will use distilled water all the time

"Great Looks; Poor Craftsmanship"
I'll make it simple: If you are looking for a home-edition garment steamer, your top 2 choices in the marketplace will likely be the Jiffy 2000 and the Rowenta 8100.

I tested both for 10 hours; on a 1 to 10 scale:

Jiffy (Looks = 6; Engineering = 10; handling = 9; craftsmanship = 10).
It looks like a mop bucket on wheels but it performs like a jet engine; every part of this machine from the plate at the bottom of the unit to the steam handle is built for rugged usage.

Rowenta (Looks = 10; Engineering = 5; Handling = 7; crafsmanship = 4).
It looks like a UFO but performs like a Pinto with much less steaming power; it is built as a toddler's toy having most parts made with inexpensive plastic including the watertank base and valve: pull the machine a single foot OR tilt it a mere 1 inch and you will experience a slow-building cascade.

Buy the Rowenta 8100 as a decorative piece to make your closet look good.

Buy the Jiffy 2000 as a garment steamer to make your clothes look good.

What our customer's say!

"Good While It Lasted", Though it didn't give the "starched" effect for shirts and pants, the steamer was great for sweaters, quick touch ups, refreshing dry cleanable pants, etc. --- that is, until the switch broke. I think I had it for about 8 months before it no longer would turn on. Can't find a local company to repair it. Based on other reviews, durability seems to be a problem so I won't get another Rowenta. I live in a small high rise so liked not having to get the ironing board out so I will try another brand.

"Best BANG for the BUCK ! I love this thing !!!", I bought this steamer after using my parents jiffy (or whatever is called) 200 series.

The rowenta takes less than 60 seconds to have continous steam.

This steamer ROCKS when it comes to soothing out wrinkles.. especially dress shirts.. and wool..

Warning: it gets HOT! you will get BURNED if you are not careful.

I love the size and the "look" of this steamer.

I think if you are going to use a steamer on a daily basis, an hour at a time..(large family, etc).. perhaps you should buy a "real commerical" steamer...

However... for those using it for 1-3 people... a few shirts/pants every other day... this is good enough..

I like rowenta.... and i have not had any issues with the water tank...

Of course...if i do... i'll report it ASAP!

"Wish I could have had one when raising a family", This steamer cuts ironing time to a bearable amount. I wish I had had one for the past 40 years. Shirts and tops require a few zips on each side and you are done. Makes the suit look like it had been to the cleaners. I even do most pants and shorts although it is a little tricky to get them hung up to steam--use hangers with clips. I would like to give one to everyone with a wedding coming up.

" average ", Rowenta steamer is not ironing device, it is for quick touch up on clothes that were already ironed/drycleaned. When dealing with cotton, I presteem clothes with Rowenta and then iron. Ironing goes this way quickly and I don't hate it! It is true that it is sometimes cumbersome to handle and stretch the fabric so no wrinkles are achieved. The best results are produced on silk, polyester, wrinkle free materials. IT is easy to steam tablecloth, curtains. It is pretty primitive tool, not much engineering went to this design.
My biggest complaint about this product is SMELL! Even when this steamer is not on, it stinks the room. There must be some terrible plastic on it that emits these noxious fumes. I just hope there are not toxic. I put steamer in room where nobody sleeps and keep windows open. This steamer is not new, we had it about 3 months and it stinks.

"Pleased with purchase", This was purchased as a gift and shipped quickly. The product is exactly what the mother wanted and she is pleased with the performance.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Garment Steamer", Very good purchase, well made, works good on most clothes, so/so on jeans.
Best priced on-line. very happy overall.

"Great Product-Quick and Effective", I cannot relate to some of the negative reviews on amazon b/c this products works great. It is only meant for light fabrics such as suits, silks and dress slacks. It can help on dress shirts, but a high end rowenta iron is needed as well. I have used the machine for over a year after purchasing one from linens n' things w/ a coupon and one from amazon for a friend, and I have no problems yet. It is really easy to use, and I figure I save about $50 a month on dry cleaning, so this item pays for itself. Also it helps avoid being subjected to dry cleaning chemicals, which have questioanable saftey issues according to some research.

"does not replace an iron", Bought this product after using a steamer from another brand. Was expecting better results from this more expensive model. The bottom-line is that these steamers are good for 'freshening' clothes before wearing them and removing minor wrinkles. Even the manual for this products mentions this fact. But even for this purpose, it takes more time to iron clothes than a regular iron. It is good for items that are inconvenient to be laid flat on an ironing board, e.g. drapes, upholstery etc. But how many times do you need to iron them?
For regular clothes, it comes no where near replacing a regular iron. There is no short-cut to ironing clothes the old fashioned way. Please do keep this in mind while purchasing steamers like this one.

"benefits outweigh risks.", I have used the steamer on heavy duty cotton curtains, a linen blazer, and my cotton blouses. The steamer has outperformed in all these tasks. The steamer heats very quick (watch your fingers). If you stay with the instructions which specifically state to move the steamer head up and down, and keep the hose as straight as possible, it will take wrinkles out almost immediately with no problems at all. I would agree with others that it does not produce a crisp effect, but it also doesn't burn or damage fabric like irons do.

I was a bit concerned that a majority of reviews have expressed two main problems with this product: 1, that the steamer head is prone to breaking, 2, that the plug/tank may leak. I have had the machine going onto 7 months, with no problems at all. Despite mixed reviews, I guess I went ahead and took the chance for the following reasons; I was impressed by the fact that I couldn't find anything else out there for 1500 watts for this price (except the Conair which rates even lower) and I am tired of expensive cleaning bills and commercial odours.
One small thing I noticed for the first few times using the steamer is a plastic-like odour that is released from the hose once the steamer is heated. It doesn't interfere with performance but for those smell-sensitive people, I'd open a window while using the machine. Eventually the plastic smell from the machine fades, while clothes are always smelling fresh.
One other thing to be careful of. The steamer may collect those white scaly deposits from tap water, but here's a trick-use filtered water from your Bionaire water filter. It helps.
Rowenta IS-8100 Commercial Garment Steamer

"great steamer", Istead of dragging out the iron and the board. I just plug in the steamer, hand my article of clothing and start steaming. I LOVE it.
