" Joy in vegetable peeling"
Ugh, I had a big salad to make. (a party a work) I put out the carrots and cucumbers and other items for salad and got busy. I peeled the carrots there was very little resistance. I stopped and looked at the peeler! What an Improvement! Peeling the cukes so easy. I have not peeled potatoes or tomatoes put this Zyliss Peeler gets an A+ for making my food prep so easy. I would hand wash and dry.

"Works so well... one of the best purchases I've ever made"
This peeler is just an unbelieveably handy tool in the kitchen! It removes the peels easily on some things I was never able to peel properly before. I even used it on kiwi-fruit and it did an awesome job.

For fruits like peaches, nectarines, and apricots, it just makes peeling a breeze. And I also love it for things like very thin-skinned potatoes (like red potatoes or Yukon Golds).

I wouldn't want to ever have to again make a meal without having this peeler available in the kitchen!

"WONDERFULLY!!!!!"
I brought this peeler on a fluke and had one of those after thoughts after getting home with it of "This was a waste of money". HOW wrong I was... this peeler is everything they say it is...Buying more as gifts for daughter and friends.

"This peeler looks pretty but she's not dumb."
Perhaps peeling tomato and bell pepper is like taking shower every day. You know the right way to do, and you do it when your guests are watching you in the kitchen but you may skip it when you are too lazy and cooking for just yourself. You still want to continue the old way to peel tomato by blanching and bell peppers by putting it in an open flame, just to impress your guests. But you might find this product very useful when no one is watching. This peeler does a fantastic job in peeling tomato, pear, kiwi, bell pepper, and a lot of other things. It's versatile and it can be used with carrots, lotus root, and whatever else as long as you don't mind the lines made by the serrated blades. Personally, I use a separate peeler for those, just to keep this one absolutely sharp for the most tricky soft skins.

Now, something I don't like: the product description mentions ginger. I find it pretty useless. You don't need a peeler to peel ginger. Use a tablespoon, table knife, or whatever you find a dull blunt edge to scrape the skin off. You do not need a peeler for ginger.

Finally, I might suggest to save the peeled skin of some vegetables: tomato, lotus root, burdock, carrot, apple, pear, etc. Many fruits and vegetables have more flavor-rich compounds as well as nutrients in the skin, and the vegetables I mentioned above add flavor when added to the pot when making stock, particularly chicken broth or soupe de poisson. I freeze them until I accumulate enough to make a hearty soup in a cold Boston winter day. However, the skin of many fruits and vegetables are coated with wax containing fungicide and/or pesticide to prolong shelf life. Not a lot of them to be dangerous, but I recommend to scrub them in warm soapy water and rinse them before peeling if you use the skin for the stock.

"The coolest little gadget...."
I've always loved fresh peach cobbler but hated to peel peaches. The scoring of the little x on the bottom, plunge into boiling water for a minute, then plunge into ice water and the skins slip right off....never worked for me. I struggle for a half hour to pull the skin off the peach, and the boiling water makes them mooshy. Enter this peeler. No need to score and plunge, just peel! The serrated edge grabs the fruit peel and holds on. The peach stays firm, and I get done in a fraction of the time. Only one word of caution: These blades are SHARP! I actually keep the little white cover on my peeler in my drawer and snap it on right after I'm done with it. This is one of the coolest kitchen gadgets they've come up with in a long time!

"Best gadget I purchased in a very long time.....",
This works great for peeling peaches, plums, nectarines and kiwi's. It removes the skin and leaves the fruit intact. I love it

"Safe and Efficient Vegetable Peeler", Zyliss 30600 soft skin peeler.

In my opinion, this is the best vegetable peeler! It won't skip on cucumbers, keeps a straight line and is skimpy on what it takes off. You keep a lot more vegetable than if you were peeling with a paring knife.

I've used this peeler on a tomato, zucchini, peach, cucumber and pear. Am so happy with the peeler that I had to share it with all Amazon shoppers.

You will be so happy that you purchased this awesome vegetable peeler because I am.

"Great Peeler!", We use this mostly on Kiwi. My wife loves Kiwi fruit but isn't wild about the skin. This peeler peels the skin off without taking the fruit with it. It's easy to use, and easy to clean. Highly recommended!

"Not effective", This peeler certainly did not perform up to expectations. I had several pounds of ripe peaches to peel and this peeler just got stuck in the flesh and did not peel nicely. The teeth dug in to the soft flesh and tore out huge hunks. What a waste of nice organic fruit. I attempted to peel two different peaches, then gave up and went back to a simple paring knife.

"nice", This is a great peeler. It ships with a little plastic cover that shields the point and the blade. It would be nice for that to be able to clip on so you can keep it. Otherwise, really nice, comfortable, does what it's supposed to.

"the author is my instrcutor..... : ).", Sure , this is a very good book if you DO want to learn factor analysis.

"Great Lil' Gadget", I was pleasantly surprised to see how nice this peels tomatoes. I jar my garden tomatoes and this is easier than putting them in boiling water and burning your hands trying to get the skins off. I liked this product so much, I bought 4 of them for members of my family. I also use it to peel garden cucumbers and am sure I will be using if for a variety of things. Great little gadget.

"One of the handiest little gadgets I've ever had! And it really works!", I confess that I usually won't deal with the annoying and time-consuming dipping-into-boiling-water method for peeling tomatoes. I usually either ignore this instruction, chop the tomatoes, and throw them into the recipe without peeling or I choose a different recipe. Ditto for peeling soft fruit, like peaches, kiwis, and nectarines, for which, in desperation, I sometimes pretend the colorful skin is part of the "look" of the recipe, even though it might be fuzzy.

With this Zyliss peeler, however, I have some new options. Peeling even the ripest, fresh tomato or softest fruit is as easy as peeling a potato, though you make long, slow strokes with the peeler (or use a sawing motion as you peel), instead of making quick, short strokes. The process is quick and easy, and cleanup is a breeze.

It is important, if you decide to get this peeler, to save the guard that comes with it. The blades are extremely sharp! The guard (at least the one on my peeler) does not snap on closely, but a rubber band easily holds it in place so that the peeler can be tossed into the utensil drawer with other peelers, presses, and slicers. A great little gadget, which I will buy in bulk to give as hostess presents and stocking stuffers. It really works!

Note: Several vendors carry this Zyliss peeler on Amazon, and each has his/her own (unlinked) product page. As the vendors have different prices, which vary up to two dollars, a customer will want to check for price before buying. Mary Whipple

"Great little tool", I haven't bought peaches for years.....now I'm buying them again. This really does the job. This is one of those kitchen gadgets that you are glad you bought.

"Amazing!", I couldn't imagine why people could be so in love with a kitchen device, until I bought this peeler! It is truly amazing - I use it on peaches, pears, ginger, tomatoes, etc. and it works even on overripe fruit. Not only a time-saver, but a fruit-saver as well, since only the thin peel is removed. Be careful - the blade is very sharp (I wish I had saved the plastic blade cover as another review did). Excellent product!
