"The Difference in blade vs grinder coffee beans"
I have been using a blade grinder for over twenty years, and was very satisfied with the results. Recently, I purchased a burr grinder that actually grinds the beans-a blade machine does not grind! My wife and I now understand why beans that are ground make much better tasting coffee. The Krups unit purchased through Amazon.com turns out to be one of the best units available under one hundred dollars. We certainly are pleased. I invite you to go to the internet and research this topic, and then purchase a grinder from Amazon-you definately will not be disappointed. JW RIGGS

"Worked -- for a while"
I bought this grinder a little over a year ago when my previous grinder which I had used for over 15 years started acting funny. What a disappointment! I had always thought of Krups as a good brand overall. First it stopped grinding fine enough and it was on the finest setting and then about a month later it just stopped. So I worked on the old one some and got it back working for now. This was a bad choice.

"No idea why this gets low reviews"
I received this grinder as a present, around two years ago. And I used it in the beginning for a french press with roasted beans from a shop, then i started with a stovetop espresso machine (the bodum mocha, GREAT coffee maker). That requires a finer grind, then I also got the Bodum El Santos (great for making lots of coffee, but a steep learning curve). That needed a much rougher grind.

I also started roasting my own beans, and that is what I use exclusively. In all this time, using this grinder somewhere around 10 times a week, for years, it has never ever jammed. So I am really unsure how people can get it to jam at all.

It is relatively quiet, very reliable, nice design. The only thing that I could say is that the blue LED power light is pretty bright. It's also very easy to clean too, the entire grinder assembly opens up so you can clean inside it.

I think it's great!

"Great little machine"
Great little machine. It grinds fine enough for Turkish coffee. I never use the higher settings. Yes, it does jam sometimes and makes a hideous noise when doing so, but I have found just giving it a good whack dislodges the offending bean and it then continues on its merry way. It has never overheated or forced me to take it apart to unjam. I will say that keeping it clean is a VERY good idea. Once a month, I put in a cup of uncooked RICE and grind those grains up-- it cleans it beyootifully!

"More Frustrating Than It's Worth"
As mentioned in other reviews, this machine has frequent hopper jams which is a fundamental design flaw. I've owned, and do own, other Krups products which have performed well- this is definitely below par.

What our customer's say!

"motor is weak", I purchased this machine at Starbucks because I thought they knew something about coffee. I was wrong! The motor is too weak and the machine constantly stalls out (set at medium). I have to hold it and shake it every time I want to grind coffee and re-push the start button every minute. I am looking for a machine with a more powerful motor and I am willing to pay more.

"One grind grinder", This coffee grinder ground coffee the same consistency despite the setting. It didn't work for a french press as it was not coarse enough.

"Dissapointed in the short life-span", This grinder is smallish, quiet, and grinds evenly... for a while. After about a year (during which it has been cleaned regularly), it stopped taking beans into the grind mechanism - resulting in an uneven amount of ground coffee. In addition, it is also very messy - grounds get all over the place around the grinder while it is working, worse than other grinders I've used. Very frustrating... definitely not worth the price.

"Not good for the price", I had to return it. It does not grind well (as in coarse) enough for french press, makes a lot of dust instead. Receptacle container is made of cheap plastic that causes coffee grounds and dust cling to it.

If you're looking for a garden variety grinder for medium fineness (for drip), $15 blade-type models would do the job for a fraction of price.

"grind select failed, then timer", I bought this item about 18 months ago. After about a year of use, the grind selection failed, and it always produces a rather coarse grind. Then more recently the timer has stopped working, so I count to fifteen and turn it off by hand. This was a very inexpensive burr grinder, and while surely I was unlucky, it was too good to be true.

"beans won't continuously fall to grind- wished I had not purchased", We are about ready to toss this one into the garbage. The beans don't fall into the grinder. I have to constantly shake it to get it to work. At first this would happen sparingly, but it's progressively worse after only a few months.
For the price we paid, I'm surprised and disappointed by the quality of this grinder.
We'll be looking for a new one that isn't this model.

"Coffee Grinder Upgrade", Having purchased a Kuerig single cup coffee maker, I decided it was time to get a more precise coffee bean grinder. The Krups GVX2 fit the bill.It provides exceptional performance & control of the grind. I needed a consistant fine grind to work best with the individual cup maker. The Krups grinder is a great value as well.

"Smooth, quick, quiet coffee grinder", I chose this burr grinder to replace a high-quality but fragile Bodum machine I got tired of repairing. I wish I had done so years ago. After careful cleaning and setup (NECESSARY) I get small quantities of perfectly ground coffee delivered quickly and quietly from a machine which occupies little counter space. This burr grinder does exactly what you want and does it well.

"Quiet and Easy to Use", This grinder replaced a Braun that we had used for over 12 years, but the change in the Braun to a fixed hopper left us looking for something else. The Krups is incredibly quiet compared to the Braun and the settings are even easier to use. Grind coarseness is set by a knob on the side and can be changed at will. The amount of coffee ground is set by a knob on the front and is very accurate for the way we like our coffee. The hopper slides out and is narrower making it easier to empty into our coffee machine without spilling grounds. Yes, coffee sticks to the plastic hopper, but it rinses off easily and is ready for the next grinding chore quickly. We are very happy with this machine.

"Don't Buy, It Breaks", For a cheap grinder, it grounds alright, but the safety features are extremely small and they can break off easily. Once they break, you may as well throw the grinder in the trash.
