"Not as good as I expected"
This opener has received good reviews by others, however I cannot do the same. We have tried it on a few jars and it opened none of them. The gripper just slipped and held on to nothing. One jar was even easily open by hand without the gripper.

"Thank You ! Progressive Multi Opener"
My grandmother loves this opener. It makes opening stuff so much easier for her.

Thank You!
Janet

"Very Handy"
I purchased this from a different site but this opener has come to the rescue on many occasions to pop the cap off of a bottle and especially to open those really tight jars. Its been the muscle in my kitchen for over a year now. Gave it 4 stars because it does show wear and tear over time. I don't know if it's all the jars I've been opening but the top edge looks as if its cracking. Well, I did get a lot of usage out of it...and when it goes, I'll be back for another!

"disappointing"
I've had one of these for less than a year. Already the black rubbery stuff on the outside has started to crack, even though I don't think that part gets much stress. But that is not the main reason I am dissatisfied. I bought this jar opener because I was looking for something to open wide jars, for example my olive jars which are a little over 3 1/4 inches in diameter. I have small hands and have developed arthritis in my left thumb joint. I had hoped this item would grip the jar firmly enough that I wouldn't have to grip as hard as I do with the floppy type rubber jar openers. It has not helped and my thumb bothers me more than usual for several days after opening a jar of olives. The opener is OK for small jars, but with any jar wide enough that I have to use the large end for opening, it does not work easily. It is not very expensive, but the floppy all-rubber jar openers work just as well for me and cost less money.

"Does so many things!"
I am a happy happy person with this new gadget, it has made my life easier opening bottle tops, jars, pop tops, etc.... when you have old arthur and your hands hurt, this little gem is without a doubt a blessing! I am so glad I bought it!

What our customer's say!

"Not sturdy, broke easily", I bought the green version of this at Crate & Barrel and while it opened jars easily and was nice to also have the bottle opener and bag opener handy, it broke really easily within about 2 months of owning it. Very disappointing.

"Dandy bottle opener, multi tool", Although this product is somewhat limited due to its hinged size restriction, it is so helpful opening many large, medium and small caps. It's great for pop bottles. It nearly always works for me better than a rubber gripper, and I have somewhat weak hand strength. I use it regularly and find it a necessity in my kitchen. I like having the other functions as well, particularly the one for opening pop top cans. I hate breaking my nails that way, and this function solved that problem and works very easily. My husband did break the first one I had by trying to open something that was too small, so I did have to replace it. I dislike having lots of gadgets around, but I replaced this one as soon as I found another. I bought two and recently gave the extra as a shower gift.

"Great product", I purchased this item for my daughter who has MS. She has a difficult time opening bottles. She loves it and I love anything that can make her life easier. The plastic bag opener at one end was an unexpected bonus.

"works well;doesn't last forever", I have used this opener for about a year. Big help opening jars. Especially surprised that I use the little hook on the top to open cans with the ring pull top. Makes that task so much easier. When you hook it in and rock it back, the levering action pulls it open with ease.
However, I need to replace the opener now, since the black plastic has broken on the outside of the handles and it doesn't work anymore. Not sure if I'll get the same product again. UPDATE: Bought another one after looking around. Even if I have to replace it, I still like it.

"Bottle Opener", I did not buy this for myself but for my Dad who has arthritis. I bought him one a few years ago for an anniversary present and after consistent and much use the plastic inside the gripper started to wear down. We tried to find one at the grocery store where I bought the first one and could not find one. I finally went online and found one for him. I bought two of them because they work so well for Dad. I rate it a five star product based on how much he uses it and how delighted he was when I brought two new ones over to him.

"a great kitchen tool", Opens any jar or bottle better than my pipe wrench.
We got some more to give as Christmas presents.
Good for the "more mature" consumer, possibly with
arthritis in the hands. An excellant value.

"Great little opener", Bought this for my Mom and had a chance to check it out and use it during a Thanksgiving visit.

Pros:
1. Very sturdy and feels well made. Has great hand feel and I think it will last a good long time. (I'll post an edit to this review if it doesn't!)
2. Opens a wide variety of containers and should serve my Mom well with 90% of her opening needs.
3) The portion of this tool that grips the lid to be opened has a semi-tacky feel and provides a good hold on the interior of the tool.

Con:
1. The exterior handle, where your hand contacts the tool, could be prone to slipping. It's hard textured plastic with no rubber gripping surfaces and that concerns me.

Again, this is based on a good amount of Thanksgiving usage, but no long term tests so far. I'll re-post if this review changes based on my Mom's experience.

-Wes
