"Functional: good product for the price"
I bought this product to arrange my knives in a neater fashion. This piece looks exactly as shown in the picture. It's simple and neat for $19.99. An extremely functional product, it has a total of 14 slots. Six slots for steak knives, one slot each for utility knife, kitchen shears, chef knife, bread knife, slicing knife respectively and a slot that holds two pairing knives. By the way, a bonus 3" pairing knife was included with this block.

I have not used the built-in sharpener feature yet. From what I understand, it is a pull-through sharpener that has some ceramic rods built-in that help in sharpening the edges of a knife when inserted. Even when not in use, I feel this slot can be used for placing one knife as big as a chef's knife.

There are expensive knife blocks out there that are more contemporary and stylish but if you are looking for a decent-looking product that is also reasonably priced and offers very much the same functions, this can be your choice.



"$19.99 is a decent price for just a knife block"
There are cheaper blocks with cheap knives included but I really want to try the sharpening slot feature. I'm not sure the sharpening slot actually works. The slots go all the way through the block so the my longest knife's tip sticks out of the sharpening slot without touching the counter. The description of the sharpening slot seems a lot fancier than the experience that seems to be sliding the knife edge against a scratchy surface. I have no idea where the ceramic rods are. I am keeping this slot because it fits all my old and new knives together except for the asian cleaver that will have to stay in the drawer.
