Others say...
"Makes You Want to Come to Work for the Coffee" We have a Jura-Capresso IMPRESSA Z5 at our office, and everyone loves it, especially because of the one-touch cappuccino. Each person can personalize their cup - cappuccino, latte, espresso, coffee or hot chocolate. It brews cup by cup, but it's high-pressure brewed, so the coffee is higher quality that many other cup-by-cup machines. Warning: other coffee won't taste as good once you try the Z5. "GREAT DEAL....FOR Capresso! lol... " I was given this as a gift and originally thought "WOW, a $3200 coffee maker is gunna be great" kinda the super high quality stuff only people how own private jets get.... wrong. The Z5 works ok out of the box, but falls way short on the "trouble free use" dept. From the first two test cups i had to call CS. Apparently, if you set the grinder on to "fine" it clogs up...after the first two cups. The biggest problem and most annoying thing is the steamer/frother. It suppose to siphon the milk through the hose and mix it with steam. It does this, but only about 15% of less of the time. Most of the time it blows steam through the hose and into the milk or just steams for 25 seconds (REALLY annoying when your using the milk steamer to milk hot coco, the steam will actually blow the coco powder EVERYWHERE). I've called CS sing maybe day 6 and now im at day 400 and still no fix. Over 1.2 years and 25 + phone calls, I've been told to take the steamer assembly apart and clean it over and over again and STILL its cant consistently siphon milk. Finally on the last call to CS the sent out a new steamer assembly, but same results. I've also had problems with lukewarm coffee, and "tray missing" if the middle of making a cup(which aborts the coffee production) to deal with. The latest thing is a funny noise after a cup of coffee has been made. It seems to have a much longer recovery time after a cup then before with a lot more clicking then usual. I suspect something is breaking, but fear it will be $100s to fix (which i wont pay) and so my $3200 coffee machine will be junk. To summarize, the Z5 is a great idea/concept, makes good coffee simply, but cut corners, crappy warranty and numerous annoying problems make it the worst cool machine I've owned. Not worth the money or problems but AWESOME if you know someone who has one... "Just a Tip!" I have owned the Z5 for about 6-months so far. I have had none of the problems that some have posted here. I did want to post a tip for those that have complained about the machine not making HOT latte's, etc. First, do not even bother using those cheap ceramic cups, etc. You need a thermal glass espresso cup (sold at various places online). If you make your espresso and you can feel that the cup is warm, just throw the cup away. You need one that will hold in the heat and not dissapate it. If you get a nice glass thermal cup, you will find you don't even need to pre-heat the cup with hot water. Second, if you desire super hot latte's. Let the steam run for a few seconds to heat up the barrel that feeds into the cup. Then, just move the dial until the milk starts to flow. The farther you push this to the "steam" zone, the hotter the milk will be. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this machine. My initial complaint that I had with the machine had to do with the heat of my latte's. That was until I put a temperature gauge on this an realized it was coming out super hot, but it was somehow much cooler in the cup. Changed to glass... pre-heat barrel (if latte/cap) and you'll be golden. "Don't waste the money" Having had an amazing cup of coffee at a neighbors house (made by a Z5), I was sold. Two weeks later, our Starbucks solution had arrived. As mentioned by other reviewers, the coffee, lattes, caps, etc... were excellent and the machine performed as advertised. In fact, we had regular visits by our neighbors, just for the coffee. But please be warned that these machines do not last and will require major repairs after the warranty has lapsed. Both my machine and that of my neighbors have stopped working, displaying "error 8" and refusing to do anything other than take up space on the kitchen counter. I realize that things aren't made like they used to be, but for $3,000+ I expect a heck of a lot more than one year's worth of light use. While lacking some of the features of the Z5, there are plenty of "super automatics" that are far more reliable and much cheaper. Don't bother with this machine. "So far, so good" After returning both a Saeco Primea Touch Plus (it gave me an error message after less than 2 months, at which time I was told to return the machine to the manufacturer for repair), and the new DeLonghi Gran Dama, which has a serious problem with the milk carafe (it doesn't fit properly on the machine - I had this problem with not one, but two machines), I think I've finally found the answer. I was always dissatisfied with the milk temperature (I use a lot of milk in my lattes), but now with this machine - the milk is very hot, as is the espresso - no need to microwave, as with some of the other super-automatics. Set up was fairly fast (I wasn't as fast as one of the reviewers at 10 minutes, but had it pretty well figured out in less than an hour), the first few test drinks are excellent. I read somewhere that you couldn't store the thermal carafe in the refrigerator, but I think this is a fallacy. The Capresso DVD, as well as the instructions, say that you can, and I can't think of any reason that you can't. If you want to make the coffee directly in a large (16 oz.) paper cup, you can do so with the left spouts - another reviewer points out that the center spouts don't raise high enough to accomodate a very large cup, which is true, but with all of the customization features, you can program the machine to dispense the coffee from the left spout, which is tall enough. After having terrible, rude, largely non-responsive customer service from Saeco, I asked was happy to hear from a number of sources that Jura Capresso has excellent customer service. I haven't had to test it yet, but from everything I heard, I'm hopeful that it'll be good. Pros: Great tasting espresso, cappucino and latte Fairly easy to master Great looking, titanium-faced, as opposed to the metal-clad plastic featured on many other expensive super automatics Cons: It's definitely expensive, but still seems in line with other similar machines, and it's better designed Lastly, I would recommend the Z5 versus the Z6, unless you are totally sold on a chrome face - the machine does splash a bit, as one would expect, and the matte finish on the Z5 seems much more practical and forgiving of fingerprints, splashes, etc.

What our customer's say! "The Jura is awesome", The jura is the best ! If you enjoy good coffee ,you will love it "Expensive, yes, but makes terrific cappucino, latte, and more", After researching for months, including test-driving several machines in-store, I finally decided to shell out the big bucks and splurge on this machine. Four weeks into ownership, I couldn't be more pleased with the product, and there has been absolutely zero buyers' remorse. One button, and it creates a perfect cappucino, latte, or espresso in about 30 seconds. The in-store rep gave me a very good warning that I should never use oily beans in the grinder, since the grinder would probably clog. Indeed, the product brochure suggests leaving oily beans out in a shallow container, uncovered, for at least 3 hours for the oil to evaporate. (I'd recommend longer than that.) I use either Illy beans or Starbucks House Blend (whole), both of which are rather dry. What made me settle on this device was the recognition that I almost always drink espresso drinks with some amount of milk in them (e.g., cappucino, latte, etc.); and I didn't want a lengthy multi-step process that involved cleaning multiple containers. If I were cooking for 1 or two, I'd probably have bought a more manual machine. But with 3 school-age young kids, I find I often have very little time in the morning. But with this terrific machine, I can get them all breakfast and make my own drink (and keep the machine clean) and breakfast without any problem in before heading out the door to drive them to school. Great if you're pressed for time. This unit would be ideal in a small office; we keep ours in a walk-in pantry at home, which is nicely out of the way. It has very intuitive LED instructions, prompts you to rinse the unit at exactly the right time, takes only seconds to warm up, and took only 30 minutes from unloading to enjoying my first drink. I do agree that an investment in glass-insulated mugs is very worthwhile to go along with this unit. While drinks do come out hot, they are at just the right drinkable heat when they come out and can cool faster. But thermally-insulated glasses were the perfect answer, and I can savor the drink over an hour or more. If you enjoy chai tea lattes as my wife does, be sure to heat or microwave the tea mixture to HOT before mixing in the milk. 5 stars. Great machine. "Bad Customer Service", Jura-Capresso 13214 Impressa Z5 Automatic Coffee Center When it works, the machines makes great coffee. When it does not, you are in for a load of trouble because the manuals are unhelpful, and customer service is a joke. For those of you that think that spending $3,000 - 4,000 on a coffee machine might entitle you to some degree of service, Jura-Capresso will remove the veils from your eyes. The telephone service is slow and closes unexpectedly, and the e-mail and voice-mail options are a joke since the company never responds. "Best coffee have ever had!", This machine produces the finest coffee I have ever had. I bought a reconditioned one from www.wholelattelove.com and am very pleased. The machine looks and works like it was brand new. I cannot praise this machine enough. Very easy to use, easy to maintain and the coffee, well, it's amazing. You can NEVER go back to drip makers. All other coffee tastes weak and thin. I am spoiled for life! "Not hot enough", We have had the Z5 for a couple of weeks. The Z5 heats the milk to deliver it at about 115 degrees (F) to the cup, at the "high" temperature setting. If you look at the various sites on lattes, etc., they say that 150 to 160 degrees is the norm. One solution is to get the milk going with the little milk/steam lever in normal position, but then, during the milk cycle, move the lever over to "steam only" and insert the bottom of the steam delivery nozzle into the cup. This forces the steam into the milk (like a normal espresso machine process) and moves the needle on the thermometer quickly to 150. The downside of this is the inconvenience and cleanup. This design is not well thought-out, particularly for a machine at this price. Coffee is supposed to be hot. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "what a great machine", ive now owned my z5 for about 2 months, and it is fun, weve already gone through a cleary water filter. our favorite thing about the machine is the frother we normally drink capucinos and oh my is this easy, and its fully programmable. i bought 2 extra milk carafes for chocolate milk and eggnog and i have solved the souring problem by adding about 25 percent ice cubes to each thermos, as the ice melts it waters down the milks which make for a better froth, dont try to use too thick a milk like eggnog it may not pull it through the siphon, water it down or add skim for a really nice froth. i also own a manual breville which i really love for those real expensive gourmet coffees that make a single perfect shot of espresso, but i still use the frother on the jura becuase its perfect everytime. So far the jura makes a better espresso for me then i can make manually so i have started grinding my expensive coffees with a burr grinder and having the jura make it for me. i love technology that allows me to enjoy coffee that only an expert could make in the past. I should have given it 5 stars but we use it so much we run it out of water and although it has the largest tank in its class its still too small, if they make a wider model that has a tank on both sides, i would buy it. "Great machine", This is in fact a very good coffee machine, so far has met all expectations in the household and we have yet to find something to complain about. Easy to learn how to use and quick to perform any type of coffee. I think it makes the BEST CAPPUCCINO, better than even some restaurants. We are very pleased with the purchase, a bit pricey, but definitely worth every penny. "Jura Gonna Love It !!", First - there is no doubt that this is a very expensive purchase, but if you have two Starbucks drinkers in the house it's worth consideration. After I determined that the ROI (given our SBUX frequency) on this machine was 3 years, we purchased our first machine (The Capresso 3000) about 4 years ago. It was love at first drink. We went from stopping for coffee every morning on the way to the office, to making it at home with some great to-go cups we purchased at Costco. When the C3000 finally broke, we boxed up the machine and took it right back to Williams Sonoma (sorry Amazon) and they happily took it back and upgraded us to the Z5 for the difference between what we paid for the first unit and the price of the new Z5 (about $350). We love the Z5 !! My husband is a "straight" coffee guy, but I am a late girl who loves the how easy it is to hook up the milk container and make my late with the push of a button. I also purchased Starbuck vanilla syrup so I can make my own Vanilla Late's at home. If you have the disposable income to consider this, it is a great machine. After reading the customer service stories in previous reviews, I would consider buying from Williams Sonoma who offers a lifetime guarantee on anything purchased through them. When my $2,699 Capresso failed after 4 years, they took it back without question and upgraded me to the Z5. Through the entire process they just thanked me for my business. I am a customer for life and can't say enough about how much we love this coffee machine !! "If 10 stars were possible, the Z5 would get them all.", I have had my Z5 for two months, and bought it after much careful research. My previous machine was also Capresso, the semi-automatic Ultima, which I love, but I wanted the convenience of the super-automatic functions--grinding, multiple beverage selections, filter system, ability to customize strength and number of ounces, to name a few. The Z5 is simple to operate, a dream to clean, and may be set up to please the most exacting tastes. But above all, it makes great crema coffee, espresso, cappucino, and steamed/frothed milk. The programming button on the top of the machine controls everything from temperature to strength of coffee, to the language which appears on the panel readout. The grinder works quietly and is easily adjusted to whatever coffee you are using. The bypass doser allows you to make decaf when you need to--and you will, because it is very tempting to drink more coffee than you might if you did not have this wonderful machine. The user is automatically notified of all the machine's needs-when to fill the water reservoir, when to clean, when to change the filter, when to rinse the nozzles. My questions were answered clearly and comprehensively by the customer service rep on the phone, and I simply could not be happier with the overall experience of having this amazing appliance on my kitchen counter. It's an expensive item, no question about it. But the solid design, the easy functioning, the excellent product produced, all combine to make it worth your while, if you are a coffee lover. So save your pennies, and go for it. You won't be sorry. "Great Tasting Espresso + Self Cleaning = VERY Satisfied Buyer", After spending $5-$10 a day at Starbucks, my wife and I got the Jura-Capresso for the convenience of a fully automatic machine and having fresh latte's at home in the morning. We have used it for over 3 months now, and like it more and more each week. The espresso, latte's, and cappucino's are wonderful, having to touch one button to have everything done at once is so easy, but perhaps the best part is the self cleaning it does. About once a week you clean out a tray and refill the water...that's pretty much it! Desserts like affogato (espresso on top of ice cream) are a just too easy to make now! Downsides: -If you ever plan to reduce your caffeine consumption, this machine is not for you. My wife and I both drink more coffee now because it is so good and so convenient. -If you like really hot latte's the steamed milk won't get hot enough. I'd call it very warm or slightly hot. Just right for drinking but by the end it can be kind of cool. Warm up the glass with the hot water option before fixes the problem. Espresso, coffee, and even cappucino's come out at a perfect temperature. ![]() |
