Others say...
"Good value, but not quite 5-star" SUMMARY Meets expectations. Easy to attach to tent and will not move once attached. However, the light is not very bright and is best used as a secondary light in a larger tent. It may be okay in a 1-2 person tent, but in a family sized tent, you will need additional light if you are going to be reading, playing games, etc. Overall, a good value for the price, but not quite a 5 star product. PLUSES Easily attachable to the tent. The magnet is very strong and once you have the light positioned where you want it, it is not going to go anywhere. Lightweight and compact. Its' small size means that you can shove it in the tent bag so it is there when you set up camp. DELTAS The light is not very bright. Guessing that it is approximately the brightness of a 40-60 watt bulb. "What a great invention!" I just love clever camping gadgets! This inexpensive light worked great in our tent. We put in right inside the tent door and found it to be very conventient. Easy enough for the kids to use. "Great tent lite" This tent light worked great. Very easy to use and gave off just enough light to light up my tent. "Grandsons love it" When my son and his family camp out they read to the boys at night. This light has worked well as an overhead light and is bright enough to read by. They place it right above the door. One person can do it and it's protected under the tent fly. A great product! "Convenient but not that bright" The light connects easily and securely to the tent and it's easy to take off. It's easy to use and nice to have a push button light in the tent. Its only drawback is that it's not all that bright.

What our customer's say! "Great tent light", We were going tenting for the first time with 5 kids. This is one of the best acessories we could have purchased. My kids have a fascination with flashlights, so they are never where I leave them and I didn't want anything with a flame anywhere near the tent.We mounted this light over the door of the tent and had light whenever we needed it. It was bright enough for us to see what we were doing and I didn't have to go looking for the flashlight! "Bright, but heavy", They are very bright, and last for quite some time, but they are rather heavy and weigh down the tent a bit when attached. "Good enough", I was glad I had this lamp for our tent, but I was disappointed at how dim it was. I also didn't manage to figure out how to attach it to the tent pole (though admittedly, I didn't try to hard, either). I'm not sure I'd recommend it, but it was good enough. "Awesome Light", This light is perfect for camping. The magnet is strong and the light is equivalent to 2 medium candles. If you are going to be doing some reading, bring a book light. If you need a cozy, soft light to help you find your shoes for late night nature calls....it's perfect. We had no problem with the magnet, batteries or "dimness." Perfect price too. "Good for the Price ", We are just came back from our camping trip. Although I bought this product more than one year ago, this is my first time to use it. We put this one at the inside tent ceiling which is close to the tent door entrance, so we can just turned it on or off upon get inside or out. It's easy to set up, no problem at all; and easy to use. The reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the light beam is not very strong; which could be good or bad. It's good for general use, but if you need to see something more clearly like I did when I took off my contact lenses and put them into the carrying case, I still need to turn on my flash light for a close look. But, that may means I need to buy another one and install it close to my carrying case. Anyway, it's a good and useful product and good use of the money. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Decent Light - Is It Necessary for Backpacking?", Coleman makes good products, but this is more of a novelty item. The magnet feature is cool as you can virtually locate the magnet anywhere on your tent surface (easier to do with two people), by placing the magnet bar on the outside and light inside. The Xenon bulb puts out enough light to see what you are doing in your tent (I have a small two-man Eureka tent), but it definitely is not a reading light source. The four "AA" batteries that it needs will last for a good long weekend, but probably not a week. Also, keep in mind that it weighs about ten ounces with batteries if you are backpacking. However, it's a lot safer than a candle or a hot Coleman lantern. I would suggest a small pen-light would suffice for rough backpacking. "Perfect for tents and gazebos!!", Great light!! The magnet is VERY strong. We have a Columbian Gazebo on our patio. It's pretty large, the light is bright enough to make anything inside visible. Not too bright, everyone commented how nice it is. Perfect for our tent too!! For ten bucks it's a great deal!! "Great light!", This is a great light my only complaint is that I wish it was a tad bit brighter. "A for Idea, B for Execution", The Coleman Tent Light is a great idea. This wedge-shaped light is backed with two powerful magnets and a removeable metal mounting plate. Take the mounting plate off, put the light wherever you want to in your tent, put the mounting plate on the outside of your tent behind the light and viola! You now have light, and it easily clicks on and off with one hand, which is important when camping. The magnets are strong enough to mount the light to either horizontal or verticle surfaces. It takes AA batteries and it's easy to get the unit apart to put the batteries in or replace them. In fact, it's too easy, and that is one of my complaints. The magnets are so poweful that pretty much anytime I take the mounting plate off, the light comes apart, too. I guess it's not that big a deal, but seems to me that it just could have been designed to avoid that. Things that continually fall apart have that "cheap" feel to them, and that's not what I want to feel when I'm in the middle of the woods. I want to have confidence in my gear! My second "complaint" is that the light is also not that bright. I put this in a four-person tent and it was just a little more dim than I would have preferred. It was certainly bright enough to see and get ready for sleep; this is not going to be a reading lamp, though. All-all-all, this is not a bad product and I'm happy I have it for the price at which it was sold. I just wonder if there maybe isn't something a little better out there. "Like it a lot", I like these lights quite a bit. We do not hang them in the middle of the tent, though, so I can't attest to it lighting up a whole tent (plus our tent is big, 15x12). We use these right above where we sleep in the tent for reading, etc. They hold well and don't pull on the tent too much. We use rechargeable batteries in them, too, so I don't know how fast they go through regular batteries, and each takes 4 AA, so rechargeables would be a good idea. And yes, the lights are an oval shape, just as an FYI. They have a rubberized push button on/off on the side and the batteries are easy to put in and take out. ![]() |
