"Water Water Everywhere"
While this makes good coffee, it has Leaked From Day One. At first I thought I was just pouring in the water wrong. But, no. It leaks.

I thought about returning it but it would be too much of a hassle to box it up, drive to UPS, wait in line, drive home, etc. My time is worth something. It is very stylish too I think. If you don't mind the water everywhere.

"Third time's a charm?"
I received this product as a gift this past Christmas. Initially I was thrilled because I had seen it while Christmas shopping, and deemed to make it mine after the holidays. I should have known it was going to be a problem when I went to make the first pot of coffee, and I ended up up with a huge puddle of water on the counter top. Being that this was my dream machine, I figured I just missed the opening and spilled some. Wrong...it leaks! This appliance should have come with a lifetime supply of paper towels to compensate for the leakage!
Anyhow, by March the machine died completely. I was able to replace it, thinking I just got a lemon. I am very disappointed to report that here it is 3 months later, and now the reservoir doesn't drain completely, and I know from past experience and previous reviews, it's just a matter of time before this one dies.
I wish I could just return it, and get something else, but I have a feeling I'm stuck with this albatross until the warranty runs out or until I get tired of playing this game.

"Beautiful machine, makes good coffee, but difficult to use"
The difficult part would be pouring the water into the reservoir. It is a tiny little space that is difficult to pour directly in. While you are doing this, you have to watch the side of the machine to see how many cups you are pouring into it. If you use the part that holds the brewed coffee, which has a little pouring spout, there is no measurement guides. I wind up with water EVERYWHERE! I don't know what they were thinking!! It does make good coffee if you don't mind the clumsy, messy way to fill it. I almost can't wait for this to break so that I can go back to a Hamilton Beach Brewstation,Hamilton Beach 47454 BrewStation Deluxe 12-Cup Coffeemaker which I would highly recommend over this machine. Same concept with the just put your cup under, press and fill your cup. ( I have had 3 Brewstations and LOVE them!!)I would just return this, but I went on and on to my kids about how I wanted one, so they would be very upset if I did not smile and use it with love.

"Love this coffee maker"
We are serious about good coffee and this maker provides just that. But the added convenience of the the on- demand feature is a major bonus. No carafe to rinse, no coffee spills on the counter. It sounds like a small thing, but you'd be amazed how much tidier the kitchen stays with this machine. We have had no problem, as mentioned in an earlier review with a "plastic" taste to the coffee.... But we did run the whole system several times with plain water before making our first pot. The single down side we have found is that you can't fit a tall "go" container under the spout, so if you're one of those who's always taking coffee with you, this probably won't be the maker for you.

"Good idea, but needs some design changes"
I bought this coffeemaker for the office. It lasted for a little over two years brewing 3-4 pots/day. I liked the idea of not having a glass carafe because they break easily ($15-20 replacement) - especially if you put it in the dish washer. We replaced 3 of them in a year using a previous coffee maker.

The unit has a plastic tank where the coffee is stored. The coffee is pretty good, but it takes about 10 pots or so to get rid of the slight plastic taste in the coffee when you first get it.

The unit began to fail in about 1.5 years. We needed to unplug and plug the unit back in a few times once in while to get it to work. That went on for about six months until it finally wouldn't come on at all. So, they have an electrical design problem.

I believe others have reported the same electrical problem as well.

I replaced the unit with the same model because I still like the idea of not having a glass carafe.

The unit is also very easy to clean. The tank lifts right out from the unit and is easily washed together with the basket and the steel meshed filter.

Coffee grains stick to the drip spout located in the top lid of the unit as the hot steaming water drips onto the coffee grains - the grains almost touch the spout. The spout isn't removable, so to clean the spout, I turn the unit upside down and run the top cover under the water faucet to flush out the holes in the drip spout. You need to be careful that you don't get any water into the electrical area of the unit, and that you drain the spout well or else you'll get water all over your counter top. Luckily, there are no electrical components in the plastic lid.

It's a good unit - but it can be improved. They should use more stainless steel or ceramic components to minimize the amount of plastic parts that come into contact with the hot coffee which taints the flavor of the brew. They should also allow for the top cover to be removable to facilitate cleaning the spout.

Any coffee connoisseur knows the importance of having an absolutely spotless coffee maker to producing quality tasting brew.

They need to fix the electrical problem as well.

I use a carafe to pour water into the unit. If you don't pour carefully, you will have a flood on your counter top - guaranteed.

What our customer's say!

"Cuisinart is wonderful ", I really like the Cuisinart brand as it is usually high quality. We had this coffee pot for 6 months and it stopped working. I was very frustrated and upset as I no longer had the receipt. I thought we were out of luck but we called them to see if they had any suggestions. They apologized for the inconvinience and said they would get a new one in the mail that day!!! We didn't even ask for a replacement they brought it up. They also sent a pre-paid lable to send the defective one back. The person on the phone was very nice and assured us that Cuisinart stands behind their products. They didn't even ask about the reciept. Now I'm still not thrilled the first one broke, but that happens sometimes. I am happy that this company is willing to back up their product and they make it hassle free. I had my new coffee pot 3 days after the phone call and it works wonderfully.

"Great addition to our office!", We purchased one of these for our office about 6 months ago and had a standard one as well. However, after about 4 months we had more coffee drinkers loving and less mess - no more dripping. My staff love it and the coffee is great. Now we have two and they are used with great fondness. Linda Johnson

"Mixed", I bought this coffee maker based on my percieved ease of use. My friend bought one last year. I wish I had watched him clean it up. I was trying to avoid cleaning a narrow neck carafe. What I like and don't like...
Pros:
1. Makes good coffee
2. Easy to clean the coffee "bucket" carafe.
3. No glass or narrow neck carafe cleanup required.
4. Auto off
5. I like the way it looks.
Cons:
1. It uses about 25% more coffee, for the same amount of water in my old Braun auto drip. The Braun coffee basket is cone shaped and perhaps this concentrates the coffee?
2. Placement of the water level gauge, rear, right handside corner, limits counter choices.
3. The top lid is hard to clean. The heated hot water is fed through this lid and drips over the coffee basket. Coffee residue naturally builds up on this lid, as in other auto drip units. The lid uses a multi-hole pattern, like a flat shower head. The coffee residue builds up between the holes.

"Do not buy", We bought this coffee maker in June, 2006. I was so excited about the lack of a carafe and for several months, this coffee maker exceeded my expectations...until it quit working. Some days it worked, some days it didn't. Some days it took 2 hours to start a brew, some days it never started.

I called Cuisinart support, who told me to use a vinegar/water solution because my problem was a clogged hole due to mineral build up. We went through a gallon of vinegar. It didn't help.

They've not responded to me and we finally just went out and got a Mr. Coffee coffee maker for half the price because I can't go without my coffee. Buyer beware, this model has major issues that Cuisinart won't address.

"Love it and no dripping pot to clean", I love it - coffee stays hot, no pot to drip onto the counter, easy to refill my cup, area to fill water is small but I had no problem with a regular measuring cup. Only issue is we can't fit our travel mugs under the spout but we just dispense coffee into a pyrex first on the days we take the coffee with us. A 14oz disposable travel cup will fit. I've owned too many coffee makers and this one so far is a winner.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Knowledge is priceless...", Problems of LEAKING reviews by others is "operator error" and ignorance... The directions are clear not to OVERFILL (if you do, it'll leak out the back spout/handle)... Says NOT to open the lid for 10 minutes or condensation will run off the back... (people are trying to remove the used grounds immediately, causing their own problem)... Some claim the "fuel gauge" for coffee doesn't work (it'll say empty UNTIL coffee is brewed!)... and the side water level, it will show amount of water added immediately, then as it brews, that level will go down to zero, while the "fuel gauge" on front, continues upward... Directions also state that the bucket 'handles' should be FORWARD or it impedes the coffee flow, which will spew it out... (easy enough to place them forward people!)... Do NOT use too finely ground coffee as it BLOCKS the water from flowing thru to the reservior.... (water has to go somewhere, so it will overflow)... "Medium" ground is stated by the booklet!!!!... READ IT!!!!!.... The people who claim it stopped working MAY be legit... Make sure the basket AND filter are both ALL the way down or the station will NOT function... I agree that things can break, but most every complaint written in these reviews is pure lack-of-knowledge because the people did not fully read the booklet that came with the product... I love this brew station... If you use it as Cuisinart directs, it does not leak... Make sure the clock matches the programmed time, else YOU will think it broken ... If you set it for 7pm, it will not turn on at 7 am... Users are to blame for 90% of the bad comments on this wonderful coffee maker...Definitely worth buying... Coffee stays hot, tastes great, and is extremely EASY to operate

"A great coffee maker", I purchased this for work to replace a different brand that kept leaking.
I have a cuisinart at home and have had virtually no problems for over 5 years. I liked this one because it is easier to brew and clean up than conventional type coffee makers.
I cant say anything bad about this produce and I think the price is satisfactory.
I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it will not fit a travel mug. You must use a regular or large coffee mug, so for the office its ideal.

"DO NOT BUY !!!!! will quit working with no recourse", Cuisinart Coffee-On-Demand Coffee Maker

Do not buy this coffee maker. I bought one in January 2007 to have it fail December 2007. I did not have the receipt for warranty so I was stupid enough to purchase a second unit on December 24, 2007. The second unit quit working April 2008. Cuisinart three warranty is worthless, it might as well be a lifetime warranty since you can not have it serviced and have to PAY for the work this will be the last CUISINART product I will ever purchase.

"Great coffee, but only lasted 3 months!", When the pot worked, we really liked it. We got it for Christmas and by March, the water reservoir no longer fully drained. Soon after that, the coffee pot wouldn't work at all.

"Fantastic!", a great product.

easy to use, easy to clean and a clean tasting cup of coffee EVERY time!

after having the grind & brew cuisinart coffee maker, which was the WORST coffee maker i've ever owned, i tried this one. i'll never use another coffee maker. it's probably the easiest, best tasting and most convenient coffee maker ever made.
