Others say...
"toaster oven" Hamilton Beach 22708H Toastation Toaster It's very nice looking and doesn't take up a lot of counter space, but the toaster part, my bread gets caught in it and I have to fish it out. I haven't used the oven yet. I'm so so about it, but for the price it's not bad. "I HATE THIS TOASTER!" Sorry to be so blunt, but it truly reflects my sentiments. It was my first Hamilton Beach product, afraid it will be my last. I fell for the "cute" factor. Kept it for 6 months, mainly because I paid $40 for it and I was reluctant to spend money on another toaster for a while. I put up with it as long as I could. It burned EVERYTHING in the oven part, the heating element was too close to the rack. Nice, melty cheese on toast? Nope. Just flaky brown burnt cheese on burnt bread. Cinnamon toast? Nope. Just burnt sugar on burnt bread. As for the pop-up portion, it was impossible to get the toast out. I ended up giving it to my neighbor and purchased another toaster. "Great for small kitchens" This toaster/oven is what it looks like, a nice compact toaster/oven. It is not very large, so don't expect to fit 6 pieces of bread in it, but if you have a small kitchen with small counters, it is a great buy. It toasts a bit unevenly, but I am not picky about that type of stuff. Also, it can get very hot, so you need to be careful not to burn the tops of items. "Great Idea" Having a combination Toaster/toaster oven is a great idea. The only negative would be that the toaster oven space is smaller than a toaster oven and therefore limited. Nevertheless, it is a great product! "A Very Handy Appliance" I bought this item because I had a need for a toaster oven but had no room for both a toaster and an oven [I don't like making toast in a toaster oven]. I've used this daily for a month and am very happy with it. I just have to make sure the oven-toaster selector remains in the oven position. Sometimes it slips out and turns off the oven.

Hamilton Beach 22708H Toastation Toaster
Why I buy this one ? - Extra-wide 1-1/2-Inch slots in the top easily fit thicker breads and bagels for conventional toasting - Oven temperature controls - Automatic toaster shutoff - Toaster oven fits up to two 16" pizza slices - Removable crumb tray It's better to buy this one too...

What our customer's say! "Won't last", The idea is good but it doesn't last. The machine lasted a little over 1 year of light use. The inside rack becomes unhinged from the door and you can't close the door without removing rack. The oven is smaller than other smaller ovens (I liked it initially because the unit wasn't that big). Also, once the rack 'breaks' it'll effect your toaster-ation. The toasts won't pop up anymore. It should last longer than a year. No more Hamilton Beach. Black and Decker is better from my experience even though that's not exactly the top of the line. "Nice toaster dispite flaws", After reading all the reviews including the ones with negative comments, I bought the toaster to try myself--- small size was a PRIOTITY and liked the sharp style/appearance. Have used it for a month now--would buy it again---I use it only for toasting bread/bagels etc and short warm ups of some food items--which is why I bought it. If you plan to do major cooking and baking buy another model. The flaws: to stop toasting you must put dial on "oven mode" which may compress your bread a little before removing as the top of the toaster closes-- trying to pull up(with GREAT difficulty) the leaver you depress to toast bread causes bread to fly out-so don't do that!Once you find what level of toasting you like-start light and go up--no need to stop the toasting cycle--so this "flaw" is not really much of a problem.Use only bread items you would put in a conventional upright toaster-extremely soft thin bread will collapse in any upright toaster. A few tiny crumbs do accumulate around top of toaster--not a big problem. Put a small piece of foil on tray in oven to catch any crumbs and dispose of every month or so if you so desire -just easier cleanup but not"required"--Really like our nifty looking "good at toasting" toaster ! "Don't Buy This If You Like Toast", This toaster oven/toaster is a great concept, but doesn't really deliver in practice. After living with it for over a year, I have a few issues to point out. The toaster oven part seems to work well, but the part I use everyday - the toaster function - is not so great. 1. No Cancel Function As far as I can tell, there is no way to cancel your toasting session once it has started. My solution - yanking at the lever until it pops up - doesn't really work and certainly wasn't designed as the intended method of canceling toast. Turning down the timer sometimes works, but doesn't release the toast immediately. This particular flaw makes 3 (below) a lot more problematic. 2. Your Toast May Not Fit Even with "normal" sized bread, when the lever is depressed and the toast is being toasted there is always a bit sticking out that stays cold and/or soggy. 3. Your Toast May Fall Through the Toaster or Get Chewed Up Depending on the bread size and texture (I've tried many different types) this may or may not be a problem for you - but it's very annoying when it happens. Unlike traditional toasters, this toaster doesn't have a very secure cage- only a few metal bits at the bottom to keep the toast from falling into the oven. Therefore, if your toast is particularly thin or delicate it will probably fall through into the oven or get chewed up by the metal prongs. I've started many mini fires this way - particularly because there is no cancel function. 4. Your Toast May Not Toast Evenly This is a minor concern for most people, but I thought I would mention that the toasting function itself is very uneven. When my toast comes out it is much more brown on one side, and in one corner of the toast than the others. This is probably because ultimately a toaster oven and toaster (in order to both function well) require different placements of components. My advice - unless you are an occasional toaster - buy a separate toaster and toaster oven. The space you save may cost you decent toast. "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!", After years of purchasing items on Amazon, this is the first review I have ever written. The reason? This toaster is such a piece of junk that I wanted to warn others not to waste their money on it. My experience: 1) mechanical - the door is difficult to open and close as if it is not tracked correctly; 2) toaster - the toaster is missing an essential and common sense feature. There is no way to stop your toast while it is toasting in case it is getting too dark and you want to pop it up immediately. You either have to wait for your toast to burn or turn it down to to "1" and hope it pops soon; 3) oven - the heating element for the oven is so low and close to the rack that it burns everything you put on it. The one redeeming quality? It certainly does fit in a small space, useless as it is. So now the obvious question must be asked: why would Hamilton-Beach put a toaster on the market that is not well-functioning mechanically, missing an essential element of a toaster, and is virtually useless as an oven? Only one reason I can think of - it is "space-saving" and would appeal to people like me with small kitchens. Moreover, their savvy corporate marketers are well aware that once people buy an item they more than likely won't return it. They use it for a while and then just deal with it until it breaks and they need a new one. Therefore, I urge you to take my advice and purchase another product, even if it is a few inches bigger. Otherwise you will also be stuck with a piece of junk that simultaneously depleted your wallet and our precious natural resources. As for the other reviewers who rate it highly...I cannot imagine anything else but that they are employees of Hamilton-Beach who are trying to dupe you. Don't buy it. "Less is more", Perfect for what it claims to be: a toaster with a small toaster oven, nothing more, but nothing less either. The length is perfect to toast long slices of bread or thick bagels. In summer, I avoid turning on the kitchen oven just for a heating slice of pizza or a scone: this is the perfect alternative. It will not cook a meal for 2 or 4, but it is perfect for quick daily use, without invading the counter space. This is a smart combo; it makes me feel almost "green" when I use it. Less is definitively best. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "What you read is true", I ordered this product 3 to 4 months ago and I have to say I am very impressed with it. It's a must have for someone who lives in a studio with a small kitchen. There are times when you toast something that half of it is not toasted, but you can always take it out and then re-insert it so that the whole thing is toasted. It's a wonderful price for this product. Also it says that a pizza can fit in it, more like pizza bites. I have the black version of this toaster/ over and its really sleek and fits well on the mini fridge. It's never gotten stuck like some others have suggested. I would recommend this product to a friend. "Almost perfect.", It does a great job, but it gets so hot that the cord stuck to the toaster "i love this toaster!", i recently got this toaster oven and i love it! it toasts bread well and fast. the oven is perfect for cooking small items or frozen foods. i made frozen garlic bread and it was done in 5 min on 425 degrees. i takes up only a bit of counter space and it looks great. i got this toaster cus my husband wanted a toaster that has a pop up toaster and i wanted a toaster oven so this was a great compromise. i also make hot sandwiches in the oven area and they come out perfect! simply put, i love it! "Great little toaster! I use it often.", If you are looking for a small toaster oven to use for one or two servings, this is a great choice. It exceeded my expectations and I enjoy using it! I bought this because I was tired of my gigantic toaster oven eating up my limited apartment counter space. I saw this in a store but it was gone before I decided to buy it. I purchased it for x-mas 2006 and have been satisfied since. it is small so I cook half pizzas in it, re-heat one or two servings of left-overs, toast, broil etc. I do tend to babysit my toaster so sometimes I run a frozen English muffin through medium once, flip it and do it again. This is completely acceptable to me. I recently cooked five chick'n nuggets and a serving or so of fries in it all at once. Perfect! Cleaning is easy enough. Again, the convenient size is worth the smaller cleaning area. I really like that you shut the oven off by opening the toaster top. The heat escapes and the cooking stops quickly and I know it is off. There are non-metallic tabs on both sides so you can move it while it is hot and stop the toasting by pulling up the lever. This is a little difficult, but I don't think you are supposed to use it all the time. I have had no trouble. "Great item,", We use it all the time and have had it for well over a year now. Use it for all sorts of things. ![]() |
