"Great Buy!!"
I got this cordless tea kettle for work so we can make tea for the non-coffee drinkers. My co-workers and I absolutely love it! It's pretty to look at and boils the water really fast. The steam gets pretty hot when it's boiling, but the kettle itself is not hot to touch. It's very safe and easy to use.

"VERY GOOD KETTLE"
I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT, WHEN YOU NEED HOT WATER ITS FAST,I RATE THIS NO 5. HEY FOLKS GET ONE OF THIS..

"I guess it's fine, but why spend all the extra $ ??"
I ordered this kettle knowing I had a trip coming up and wanted to take it with me. After seeing when it's expected delivery date was I was concerned I'd leave before it came. While in Target I found the "Melita Express Kettle" that holds the same amt. of water (1.7L) for less than 1/2 the price. The only downside of the Melita is that it's plastic...but I've had several cups of tea from it now and have never tasted any weird plastic taste...I think it works great. Does it look as impressive? I'd say it's very similar except it's white rather than stainless... Even though stainless looks nice at first, it gets finger-printed up. I prefer the Melita one for a few reasons...#1. The Lid opens further allowing for easier access when filling. #2. It seems to shut off quicker once the water has come to a boil...this one boiled for a good several seconds before shutting off. and #3. Both sides of the Melita have a waterguide see-through window to see how much water you've got in there, compared to this one only having a small place inside the handle. Oh, on the plus side, I think it does boil the water slightly quicker than the Melita one does though...maybe in 7-8 minutes rather than 8-9. Not a big deal for me at 1/2 the price! So my conclusion is this: If you want something "pretty" to sit on your counter while doing the job, go with this product...if you want something that gets the job done with more convenience and 1/2 the price go to Target!

"Safe, popular and convenient"
I got this electric kettle to send to college with my son. He uses it all the time, as do his friends. It gave me peace of mind, because it shuts off automatically after the water boils, and the college only allows appliances with automatic shut-off features in the dormitory.

"Great looking, solid, and works well"
I initially purchased a plastic kettle, as that is what I'm used to in Hotel rooms when I travel, especially in Asia. The first one came cracked and I returned it to Amazon and they sent me another one. That one didn't sit right on the base, and ended up not making electrical contact unless I held it down! So I returned that one and didn't want another plastic one, and ordered this stainless steel one from Chef's Choice. It works as it is supposed to, looks great, and is very solid.
The one thing is that it doesn't shut off right away after boiling. This delay causes a lot of hot steam to rise from the spout until it shuts off, so you won't want to place this under a cabinet during use as the steam could affect the bottom of your wood cabinets.

What our customer's say!

"Hot stuff!", Does exactly what it's supposed to do and looks classy on the counter top. Is it my imagination or does my coffee and tea taste better?

"good wallpaper steamer", I loved the look of ths electric kettle but it took so long for the automatic shut off to kick in that my ceiling paint would have been peeling before very long. I returned this kettle.

"Great kettle", Boils quickly & reliably, haven't had a problem with it whatsoever. The design feels very sturdy, to boot.

"Perfect little kettle", Had it for a few months now. Does what it's supposed to. Auto-shutoff works well. Good value.

"Electric Kettle", The wife and I bought this kettle about a month ago and we love it. It heats water for our instant coffee real quick; faster then on the stove in a pot. The only thing about this kettle is the lid does not open all the way; only partial; and it is hard to get water in it because of this.
Otherwise great product so far.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Very handy!", This is a great product. Very quick to heat and I enjoy the dettachable base feature. The Cons include a limited amount to pour water into the unit (the lid doesn't pop up very far) and some of the finish doesn't do great with steam. Overall a good buy!

"Way overpriced for the quality. ", I have a simple but very practical stainless steel kettle that I use on a daily basis and love. Unfortunately, when I went to buy a second kettle for my office, I could not find it online. I saw this Chef's Choice kettle and it looked similar so I tried it, even though I thought the price was a bit high. Now I am sorry I did. While the unit does heat water fine, there are a couple of critical design flaws that are simply unacceptable in my view.

First, the handle, while looking kind of cool and curvy is not at all ergonomic. When you lift the kettle up the unit rotates down in your hand, as if it is trying to pour itself out. This is not so good when you are carrying a kettle of scalding hot water.

Second, the lid is made out of metal, which not surprisingly gets very hot after each use. If after one use you go to make a second pot, the only way to close the lid again is to push down on the hot metal. I kept thinking there must be some other way, but alas there was not. I wonder if the engineers every actually tested this product?

Finally, the unit just had an overall flimsy feel to it. It was hard to pinpoint, but it was apparent enough to lead me to decide to return the unit. If you are looking for a good electric kettle, keep looking. The only good thing about this kettle is how it looks. If you want something to sit on your kitchen counter, try it. But if you want to actually use it to make hot water, this is not the kettle for you.

"Noisy, but excellent", We have had other electric kettles, but the Chef's Choice is by far the best. It's really noisy when heating/boiling water, but that's a good thing--we know everything is working well and quickly. The speed is amazing, and my fear that the stainless body would pick up permanent fingermarks has been unfounded. Excellent value and wonderful design. I love the water-measure feature and the covered heating element. No more soaking in CLR once a month as with our others! We've only had this unit for a few weeks, but it's been used two to three times daily and is a real winner.

"Come back Russell Hobbs, all is forgiven....", I grew up in Europe with electric kettles so I think I know what to expect. I had to return the M677, as it took too long to turn off. I called their customer service and they said it should take an average of 12 seconds to turn off. The average for mine to click off was 1 minute and 15 seconds (timed only after coming to a vigorous boil with steam escaping). It didn't matter if it was full or not. Only once did it click off in less than one minute. Once I came downstairs and it was still boiling away, I was not sure for how long it was boiling so I decided to return it.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt (their customer service was good - a real human picked up in a few seconds), I replaced it with a model M678 which is a little larger, and its average click off time is 35 seconds. It still feels like it's too slow to click off and most of the time I flick it up manually, but at least I feel I can trust it to turn off if I leave the room. (My old dead Russell Hobbs would have switched off in 15 seconds, but I can't seem to find them anymore in the US at least.) On the other hand, the exra boiling time does mean the water if very hot; I would often bring the Russell Hobbs to a second boil so it would be hotter!

The M678 is a bit wobbly on its base, and wobbles a bit when its boiling, but the M677 was stable. All in all, the kettles look good but feels cheaply made with inconsistent quality control. But after scouring all the other reviews, it seems like these models were the best of the bunch.

At least I could count on Amazon to take back a defective product without any hassle. I'm glad I bought from them and not another vendor now (Amazon even reimbursed the shipping, which I didn't expect).

"Accidentaly gave it four stars but now can't change to five!!!!", I bought this for my vacation home, then I bought one for my apartment. I love everything about it. I like the way you can fill it easy and it boils pretty fast. It also seems very safe. I do wish they would make a version with a whistle though I am developing the habit of hearing the subtle click when my water is boiled. I would ignore the reviewer who talks about the plastic. It is one of my concerns as well but the plastic is negligalbe here and, I am sure, quite harmless.
