"lovely but lethal!" i've had these less than 2 wks. just was hand-washing one and it slipped - huge sharp shards slice both of my hands - jagged and deep. as a 27+-yr career research biochemist, i am used to pyrex lab glass - which i THOUGHT this was - waaaaaaaaaaaayyy too thin for in-home use! do not buy. "Very Cool (or Hot) Glasses" I originally bought these as a treat for myself because I really like my hot drinks hot and my cold drinks cold. Both my teenagers pronounced them "sweet" and like using them so much that they will actually remove them from the dishwasher and wash them by hand if there isn't a clean one available. They do work well; your coffee/tea will stay nicely hot. And my son loves the fact that his milk stays cold to the last sip. No coasters necessary to prevent rings, either. They are very visually appealing, too. The only draw back might be that they are expensive and breakable, so you don't want to use them around small children or folks apt to drop things. "Great product-almost..." I purchased this product with much trepidation as to their sturdiness. From reading the other reviews I was sure that the glasses were too fragile for dishwashers and everyday usage. I still use and handle the glass very carefully, hand washing and being ever mindful as to how incredibly thin the "glass" walls are. They continue to hold up, but what a pain having to worry all of the time about shattering them. They've become more of a novelty item brought out for good beers than a glass you can use and then toss into the sink or dishwasher. It"s easier (and much less classy) to use a stainless steel tumbler... "Great for hot chocolate" I microwave hot chocolate in these glasses every morning. They are great for that. Only problem is that the bottom is narrow, so the glass gets filled & I have to use a taller tablespoon vs my usual teaspoon. "WOW- they actually work!" YES- they actually work! They keep cold beer cold, and hot coffee hot! I am a tru believer now!!!

What our customer's say! "These are amazing.", I've been using these for a few months as a beer glass. Pretty much all I can say is that these are fantastic. They keep my beer cold for a much longer period of time than a regular glass and not to mention they look pretty cool too. I've had family and friends over and they've all gotten a kick out of the glasses and a few of them have bought a set for themselves. As for the fragility of the glasses. I have 6 of them and I haven't had one of them crack or leak or anything. After reading all of the reviews on them I've been very careful with them but I do put them in the dishwasher and they've all come out fine every time. Looking at the make of the glass I can see where it might be more fragile than other glasses but I haven't had a problem. "bodum glasses", Other than the fact that it is necessary to take care that you're gentle with these glasses, they are an excellent buy. I've yet to try them with a hot drink, but my beer stays icy cold much longer than in the bottle. "Excellent glasses, but not the ones shown", I've enjoyed using these all-purposes glasses for tasks ranging from very hot (scalding coffee wont affect the outside surface temp at all) to very cold (they're great for ice cream, for example). Also the Assam design is a lot more elegant than their other lines. Unfortunatly, they break very easily; my roommate and I have gone through about 8 breaks in the past year, so keep that in mind. More significant, the picture shown for this item is NOT the actual glasses; the real glasses are significantly taller than the ones shown here. I bought these thinking that they would be similar in height to the Bodum Pavina Beer glasses (another one of their lines) and in fact they are half again as tall. The pictures show the inflection point of the curve to be about a third of the way down; in reality they are about a fifth (the point of that is only to say that its not an image scaling issue, but that the glasses in the picture are incorrect) Despite that, I've been very happy with them, so no complaints here (although I spent another $20 to buy the ones I thought I was getting!) "Bodum Assam Double-Wall glasses", Glasses are as advertised and I use them for cold drinks because they don't sweat on good tables or wherever you may want to set them. They are however very thin and you have to be extra careful not to just drop an ice cube into an empty glass. I did and learned the first time. I do like the glasses enough to have ordered more. "Love them!", It all started when my son had purchased them and in using them first hand, I really liked that you could put hot tea or coffee in them and it stayed warm as well as having a cold drink or beer and it would keep the beverage cool. I like the design as they are easy to hold (not too wide) and easy to store in the cupboard, (one up, one down etc.) and they look great! I absolutely love these! Best purchase in a long while! 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Fragile, but Wonderful", We really like the Bodum double-wall glasses and mugs for both cold and hot drinks. We now have several sets of al sizes and use them every day. Because the are so fragile (one in our last order was broken, but immediately replaced by Amazon), you must be careful handling them. "Great Glasses", These double-wall glasses are wonderful. They hold onto the temperature of your drink longer and in warmer weather there is no condensation puddling around your glass and on your table. I read many of the reviews stating that they were very fragile. Fortunately, we have found them to be very durable. Of more than a dozen we have only broken one glass and that was because it received a direct hit that sent it flying to a ceramic tile floor . . . where just about everything breaks! We haven't used a regular glass or even a stemmed wine glass since purchasing all sizes of these double-wall glasses. There are no children in the home so I cannot speak for durability around children. "Hand Blown Quality Glasses that Insulate", I'm a big fan of the Bodum line of hand-blown glassware. I have four of their espresso shot glasses and 8 of these glasses. I received the beer glasses for Christmas and have used them solely since that time and none of them have broken. I have treated these like any other glass and put them on the top rack of my dishwasher to wash. I imagine they are more fragile than other glassware might be but they are very beautiful and very well insulated. They don't sweat with cold beverages and my bevvies stay cold for a couple hours without any ice. I hate ice! If you don't want your drinks watered down with ice and you like a well insulated alternative, by all means pick them up, especially on the 4 for 3 sale! "Bodum Assam Cooler/Beer Glasses", While I like the product because of the easy grip, one of my glasses got water between the layers after washing. Has this been a problem with this glass before? My other Bodum glasses have been great. "work great but too small and too fragile", I will surely enjoy these glasses for as long as they last. They keep my beer fidge cold to last gulp. I like the way they look and feel in my hand. I also wish I could pour a pint of beer of into them and am downright disappointed that I can't put 12oz with a hint of a head in them. They feel about a durable as glass made out of potato chips. I'm sure they'll be shattered in a matter of weeks and at $10 per glass I will not replace them. |
