"Refreshing in a mundane world" For those who complained of too much power in the release or having to set the power level too low, I can only say, they should all do it like this unit does.The heat is actually intense enough to toast the bread to any level of brown you desire - and at a number significantly lower than max. This is the first toaster we have had in years that does that, You can see the progress on the display, you can lift the toast to view the status of the toast, the bagel button works fine and as a usual complainer, I can't find anything wrong with this toaster. And the best thing is that the sides remain much cooler than the inside We have had it a few months now and love it. "Breville CT75XL Toaster: Excellent Product" This toaster is true excellent. It's wide slots accommodate four slices (or bagel-halves)easily. The extra features really are useful: lift lever to check progress of the toasting cycle, a bagel function, a defrost mode, and a reheat mode. The digital dislay and stainless steel finish make it perfect for any modern kitchen. We had read some negative reviews about the darkness settings but we have not had any troubles. The number "3" setting seems to be perfect for us, not too dark and not to light. Don't hesitate to buy this toaster. "Great toaster - nice looks - a little bigger than expected" Shopped around quite a bit. Had a Cuisinart for years but always had little annoyance problems with it. Decided to go by ratings first, looks second. Ratings were great on this one. This is a nice sleek looking alternative to the big knobs and curved edges on most of the latest retro toasters. Toasts perfectly - nice big slots. Would recommend a pair of bamboo tongs because the bread doesn't POP out so you can grab it with your fingers. Overall, very happy with it so far. Just realize it is pretty large - kind of like a basic small toaster on steriods. "This one is a real beauty" After reading some of the reviews, I hesitated to order this. However, I caved and got it anyway. This is one of the nicest toasters I've ever had the pleasure of seeing or using. It is just as the manufacturer claims. I've used it for 4 days now and have had no problems at all. I did keep the browning setting to 4, as recommended and everything is toasting perfectly. I have GE Profile stainless appliances and this has that same look and feel. It is sleek and has a slightly curved top line that is very attractive. The electrical cord has a finger hole design at the plug, to make it easier to unplug when needed. The packaging is exceptional, showing that the manufacturer takes pride in ensuring the product is not damaged in shipment. The only concern anyone might have is the heat level. For me, it is not a concern since I'm used to pulling them away from the cabinets and other electrical cords. I would not recommend this for people with small children who do their own toast, but other than that....it is my perfect toaster. I could not be happier with it. "Bad toaster" My husband bought this for me for Christmas. I liked the four slices capability. Unfortunatley, that meant you could now waste four pieces of bread at a time, rather than only two. What a time saver. It is a wonderful example of horrible engineering and thoughtless design. If you set it on one, you get warm bread. Two gets is almost too toasted and when one of the kids turned it up to 9, the smoke alarms went off. It is basically useless unless you like to sit and baby-sit to pop it at just the right time. It also "roasted" inconsistently. NO matter what one edge of the bread always came out a little black. The design could use some work too. It is very wide if you put the long part against a wall. But if you turn it short-ways you can't see the setting dial. Too bad.

What our customer's say! "Beautiful but tone-deaf singer...", When I first saw this product sitting on the shelf it was love at first sight. Beautiful design, shiny stainless steel, nice controls and the recommendation of the sales clerk at the high end kitchen shoppe sealed the deal. When I got it home I started making toast... Well burning toast more like it and on the lighter end annoying toast. This unit has some serious design flaws. If you toast it on "3" it will come out warm and slightly toasted, at "4" you will get a charcoal briquette. If you don't stand there and watch the toast it will burn, period. On the odd times that it actually does produce eatable toast it shoots it out of the toaster to land on the counter. Not entirely sure why it does this. Perhaps overjoyed at its success? I would not recommend this toaster if you plan to use it on a daily basis and do not want to watch the toast every moment to ensure that you don't get charcoal, or wear a catcher's mitt to catch the launched briquette. If you buy this toaster good luck. But forewarned is forearmed. "Counter Top Class", This Toaster will add a touch of class to any counter top. After 3 days of testing I say BRAVO to the Breville 4 slice toaster. Perfect results on a wide variety of breads. Timer finished sound is a little weak but the sound of the bread popping up should get your attention. Any negative reviews on this toaster can only be because of ones lack of ability to walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. I highly recommend this toaster to everyone. "Too much negativity surrounding this excellent toaster.", I've never written a review of a product online before, but I felt compelled to for this toaster. I had the option of selecting between this and a few others -- of the choices I had, this one definitely looked the best, but there were so many negative reviews on Amazon about how this toaster will char your food to a crisp on the lowest setting. I went with it anyway, mostly based on the feeling that these other reviewers either a product that was faulty AND SHOULD HAVE RETURNED IT; there's no way an established company like Breville would purposefully put out a toaster where you can't properly control the toasting level. I toasted my first english muffin yesterday and was cautious, putting it on 3. But as it was approaching finished, I took a peak using the 'toast preview' feature and i had to crank it up to 5! 5 being the middle of the road on the scale, it was the perfect, middle-ground setting. My girlfriend and I had bagels this morning and on 5, with the Bagel setting pressed, they came out perfectly golden on the inside and warmed on the outside. It's just a toaster, but I've never used a better one. "Careless Construction and Design", We returned the toaster two times because of lever disfunction. We are going to return the third one with LCD failure. Is that coincidence? The operability is mediocre as is the appearance, different from the other Breville products we own and like. "A little browner than expected", I purchase the Breville toaster because of the other great products from this company. The toaster is beautifully made and the power cord is exceptionally strong. My problem is trying to get a medium brown piece of toast. The settings are 1 to 9 so I guessed 5 would be medium. Wrong! 5 set off the smoke alarm and turned a helpless piece of bread into a burnt sacrifice. Both of my cats still refuse to come back into the kitchen and I had to use soft scrub to get the smoke stain off of my white cabinets. I tried 3 and it didn't even look like it was toasted. 4 burns the edges and leaves the center soft. I'm sure that 3-1/2 would be perfect but it isn't offered. My wife laughs at me every time the toaster comes out because she wanted the $ 19 GE toaster that was on sale. I'm sure it would have worked perfectly. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "I love this toaster!", My last toaster was a large fancy toaster that was bulky and took 3 *push downs* to toast anything. I LOVE THIS TOASTER! It is sleek, good looking and fits in tight spots. I love the handle that lets you lift the toast to peek at it without stopping the cooking process to check it. I also love the digital dial. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about but I toast my bread at 4 and my waffles at 6 and they come out great! Buy this toaster! "Handle with care", This toaster does not mess around. It does get extremely hot, so move it away from underneath cupboards when in use and unplug when done. Not for small children. The edges on either end are cool to the touch so it's easy to move. But don't stand over it or touch the top or you will get burned. Settings are extreme. 2 is about the most I can stand. 4 will definitely scorch your bread. Any higher could pose a fire hazard. This is not a wimpy piece of machinery. I like the lift and look feature and the sliding bottom comes out easy for cleaning. Just use caution with it and you should be ok. "This toaster is dangerous", It gets so hot on the top and sides near the top that my wife burned herself badly simply by bumping it. This would be a real danger with kids around. It is simply not insulated. The brushed aluminum finish looks great but it heats quickly to very high temperatures. There is also a darkness scale from 10 to 9 and at 4 burns the bread to a crisp. Overall a very disappointing product. This is going back. "Good looks, lacking in function.", I don't really have complaints about the toasting ability of this toaster. It browns the bread adequately, although as other have said there is not much point in the settings going up to 10 when a setting of 4 will burn the toast. My complaint is that you cannot only select one slot at a time for toasting. Many other 4 slice toasters have separate darkness setting for each pair of slices, which is nice if you want to toast different kinds of bread at the same time. Also, with this toaster if you only have 2 slices you still have to power up the whole toaster (wastes a bit of energy). Finally, the toaster is 1500W and produces a lot of heat, both above and on the side surfaces, so you have to be extra careful to keep cords away and not use it below cupboards. "Don't Get Burned--Buy the 2-Slice instead", One day my gorgeous Russell Hobbs toaster went crazy. I started to research another nice looking toaster that would also satisfy my needs for a high-tech gadget. I thought the Breville 4-Slice Toaster met my needs. I didn't want the 2-slice because I thought that there were times that I'd like to toast long slices of bread. I read the stunning reviews for the 2-Slice and the mediocre reviews for the 4-slice, and thought "How different can they be?" Let me tell you, I bought the first Breville 4-Slice, put it on the '4' setting and ended up with charcoal. Actually, I ended up with a whole loaf of charcoal. I kept trying different slices, other kinds of bread, and even different outlets, but in the end, I figured I had a bunk toaster. However, when I exchanged the toaster for another one I had the same trouble. The toaster burned my bread everytime I used it above the '2' setting. Whats the point of having 10 settings? Finally, I exchanged the 4-slice for the 2-slice toaster. Perfection! Whoever did quality control for the 4-slice model--not so good. Buy the 2-slice and you'll be OK. |
