"Reviews helped me make right decision" Living in the country, I buy in bulk at local warehouse stores; and just this year am reaping the benefits from my first garden! I needed a way to package the bulk items into smaller units and wanted to freeze single servings of vegetables from the garden, so the quality of these items would last longer. Having read many favorable reviews on this FoodSaver, I made the choice to purchase this particular brand and model. The ease of use and compact design are ideal for any kitchen! I have not tried the hose attachment or its use with the special canisters, but I am very pleased with the peformance of this unit so far. I regret the waste generated having to allow for 3 additional inches between the final seal and the top of the bag, especially with the price of a roll of bag material, but certainly understand why it can't be avoided. In all, a great little machine and I look forward to conquering the backlog of food storage packaging that needs to be done in my pantry! "It's not going anywhere" I have one of the older ones from about 3 years ago. I love it. I have several of the accessories and buy the bags in rolls. I'm so happy with this item that I just wrote about it on my blog: http://www.kathalog.com/kathalog/ "Buyer beware" My foodsaver unit stopped working after 5 uses. It will no longer vacuum the bags and is useless. Foodsaver said to throw it away because it is no longer in the warranty period. Beware. I'd buy from a more reliable company! "FoodSaver V2840" It's nice to find a product that actually does the job it's designed for. The stand-up storage makes it possible to keep it on the counter and ensures that it gets used more than if it's kept out of sight. A big improvement over the old one we had is the ability to control the amount of vacuum applied making it possible to re-seal fragile items such as chips. The only complaint I can find is that the bags are a little pricey. "Indespensible tool" In today's economy, buying in bulk to save money is almost mandatory. This product lets you stock up at the warehouse club stores and have the piece of mind that freezer burn won't effect your goods while they sit in the freezer. What I find almost as important as the vaccuum sealer itself, is the heat sealer. Chips, cereal, crackers, carrots, and much more can be resealed in their original packaging. No more twist ties, baggies and even reduced uses of plastic storage containers!

What our customer's say! "Longer tails from end to sealing point with each newer model.", I have been using Food saver/Tillia products for many years they are well made and have saved food and money; however, with each new model the distance between the ends of the bags you make and the sealing point get stretched out longer and longer. This machine (V2840) was the first I noticed this built in self serving, land fill generating and not to mention consumer pocket book wasting feature. On this model you (fortunately) can seal one end on the very end; the vacuum and seal end (unfortunately) is a different story; Food saver/Tillia has stretched the vacuum tray away from the sealing strip so every time you vacuum and seal you lose .8 inches as a wasted tail (the first noticeable sign of greed). The older machines are not like this; on obvious attempt at profit by forcing the consumer to waste product, create more landfill and the obvious; corporate profit by stealing from their clients! Yesterday, I purchased the newest latest model, the Food saver (V3825) Warning! the 3840 3860 are the same at wasting material!, these models are really something, you simply push insert the end of the bag into the bag end opening, press SEAL or VACUUN AND SEAL and totally automatically does it all!; sitting down?, either setting you just lost 2 full inches of the bag that you just made; let's do the math; a standard 22 foot roll of bag material should make, let's say 30 bags; minus sixty, one inch wasted tails. So 5 feet or 25% of the 22 feet is Food saver's profit, our loss and a forced environmental misfortune, not to mention a blatant and inappropriate attempt at ripping of this planet. I don't know about you; but, I take exception to stealing. This machine is going back today! I will find an older model that gives one more control of the sealing, my pocketbook this planet :) "works great", This product works exactly as promised. We buy in bulk and then repackage things in smaller units. This saves us money because things do not spoil. The machine is very easy to use. We shopped around a lot before we purchased our unit. Amazon had the best price. "Recommended.", If you are looking for a foodsaver with a nice design at a reasonable price, this is the one to buy. Do not go for anything older for a few dollars less. My first vacuum sealer was really cheap and of course couldn't do anything properly. I am glad for bying this one,it was a lesson not to compromise with junk for a better price.. "FoodSaver V2840", The V2840 does a great job! Has worked perfectly every time I've used it. "saved from our garden...", My husband & I are so impressed and pleased with our Food Saver. Twenty-five lbs of roasted green chilis, no problem. The rest of our garden, which we usually surrender to by now, is being happily tucked away in our freezer or dehydrated and vacuum sealed in the pantry. Operation is simple, quiet and flawless. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Awesome", I bought the Foodsaver and fell in love with it, the ease, the way it handled, the products after being vacummned was great! I would highly recommend this product to anyone. I was a little skeptical at first, but bought it, use it for apples, corn, cookies , potatoe chips, I went sealing crazy. It was simple and fun to use. Great product. "Bargain", Perfect product and the price from a great company was unbelievable. We had one years ago that was difficult to use. This one is EASY to use and performs perfectly. HIGHLY recommended. "Food Saver Review", It works well. Easy to clean. I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm satisfied with it. "A real saver!", Great design, great look, works like it advertises. Comes with an instructional DVD that offers even more ideas on uses like closing chip bags and making waterproof bags for camping. Worth every penny if you like to buy food in bulk. "Great Product!", This is my second FoodSaver. (I wore out an older model.) This newer version is quieter, faster, and easier to use. Its flip-up design saves space and it looks great. Operation is simple making it a pleasure to use. Food stays fresh many times longer than ordinary storage. Bags can be used in the pantry, the fridge or freezer. Canisters are available for the pantry and fridge. The extra freshness and longevity of vaccum sealed foods will make you want to use this on just about everything. You can even save money by buying in bulk. And, you don't have to run out of things or make frequent trips to the store in order to have fresh tasting foods. Read instructions carefully to get the most out of this product.
