"Didn't hold up in the dishwasher"
We really liked these measuring bowls at first. Unfortunately, after being washed in the dishwasher a few times, they became very faded and the surface appears crackled. Since I just heard about carcinogens possibly leaching out of hard plastics in the dishwasher, I just can't take the risk. Especially when these bowls actually LOOK like they are deteriorating. My Mario Batali measuring bowl set went in the trash.

"five crappy pieces"
I bought two sets of these as a wedding gift because they looked lovely and also they were dishwasher safe and microwaveable. (so I will give them that) However, they were shipped unwrapped (in plastic), unprotected, and rather dingy in a box. They are what they are. If they are what they are what you are looking for, then they will suit your purposes. They were not something I would give as a gift and not even something I would bother keeping for myself. SO I returned them and then was a satisfied customer.

"Melamine - Wikipedia"
While I love the design idea behind these measuring cups, I just wikipedia'd what "Melamine" was (the material these are made from) and was a little stunned, causing me to write this comment.

"Melamine is used combined with formaldehyde to produce melamine resin, a very durable thermosetting plastic"

While I'm sure the risk is nominal, why do I just feel uncomfortable putting any food item in a material partially created with formaldehyde?

:(

"Where's the 1/3 and 2/3 cup measure?"
Handy alternative to the standard multi-cup measuring sets. Each prep bowl is divided into two measurements, for example, 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup.
The sizes are 1/8 and 1/4 c., 1/4 and 1/2 c., 1/2 and 1 c., 3/4 and 1 1/2 c., and 1 and 2 c. There is no 1/3 and 2/3 c. measure, which is a shame.

At first glance, you might not be convinced that the measuring line is in the right place. But, I verified that they were. The bowls stack neatly, and are light and strongly constructed.

A great prep aid.

"Measuring bowls"
Love these bowls nice when I can get things ready for my son to dump in the big bowl. Good quality and cleans easily

What our customer's say!

"Makes my list of MAGGIE'S FAVORITE THINGS", I've always wanted to create a list of my favorite things, just like Oprah. If so, these bowls would be on it. Each year, I try to find something great (yet inexpensive) that I love to send my friends. This is what I'm sending this year!

"I'd buy it again", Product is perfect when you're busy at work and want to grab a serving of nuts out of a larger bag or container, or if you want to measure out the right amount of yogurt quickly and get back to work. They are nice enough looking that you can use them as bowls and eat right out of them, as I do with my yogurt, nut and peanut butter snacks.

"Disappointing", These nesting measuring bowls-- if that's the term-- are rather attractive if you like the color orange. Each bowl can be used for two measurements as follows:

2 cups/1 cup;
1 1/2 cup; 3/4 cup;
1 cup; 1/2 cup;
1/2 cup; 1/4 cup;
1/4 cup; 1/8 cup.

For example, you can measure both 1 Cup and 1/2 cup from the same bowl. There is a line that indicates where 1/2 begins.But why would you need to measure 1/2 cup out of the bigger 1 cup bowl when you have a bowl with a bigger measurement of 1/2 cup? One of the problems is that the numbers are divisible by 2 only. How do you get 1/3 of a cup measured? Additionally how on earth do you level the smaller measurement within the larger one? Try measuring 1/8 of a cup, for example, and see if you can level off whatever you are measuing. I obviously knew there were no handles on these bowls\ when I ordered them, but I like to put the measuring cup into the flour or sugar container and then level with a knife or spatula, something that is rather difficult to do with these.

These bowls will probably stay nested on my kitchen shelf.

"works good, could be improved", Works great. However, I'd like it if the cups were a little bigger than the intended size and then had a second line inscribed. This would make them quite a bit easier for prep-ing liquids that will sit for a bit until they go in the pot.

"Great All-Purpose Measuring Cups", These are great all-purpose measuring cups. Often in cooking (especially baking), you have a recipe that calls for three ingredients to be added at a given step in the process. For example, a cup of milk with a teaspoon of vanilla and a tablespoon of honey. This is an example where these measuring cups excel. You use the 2 cup bowl which has a line inside for the 1 cup mark. Fill the milk to the one cup line, then add the vanilla and honey. You only use one item (less cleaning). Also good when activating yeast for breadmaking.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"very happy with my measuring bowls", I'm very happy with these bowls. I've had them for a couple of months now, and I use them _all_ the time. They're great prep bowls and measuring bowls, and I put them on the table to for condiments and fixings.
The bowls feel good in your hands. They are solid and sturdy and hold up to washing in the dishwasher.
Like another reviewer, I wish there was a 1/3-2/3 bowl, but maybe they just couldn't get another bowl to stack right. I've marked lines in two of my bowls to give me those measurements.
I'm getting my mom a set for her birthday and maybe another for me, too! They are well worth the price.

"Excellent product", I love these bowls and use them frequently. I just bought another set as a gift for another cooking enthusiast. I recommend them to anyone who loves to cook.

"Excellent addition", This prep bowl set is an excellent addition to any kitchen. It's quite usefully for complex reciptes.

"Great bowls!", Just another, "do I really need this?", "oh I am glad I have them" kitchen gadget. Great bowls with a double inside measure. I use them alot!

"NOT MICROWAVE SAFE!", These bowls are very convenient for mixing small quantities of sauces, salad dressings, etc., or for recipe mise en place.

These are NOT NOT NOT microwave safe, though, as I learned the hard way. These bowls get VERY hot VERY quickly in the microwave, and in no time they will melt/explode and make your entire kitchen smell like toxic plastic.

As long as you keep them out of the microwave they're great!
