"Good for single cups"
I'm a coffee nut, and though I prefer grinding my own beans and using my Capresso 10 cup, sometimes a single cup is all you need. And in that respect, this unit works beautifully. It is simple to use, quick to make coffee and clean up is a snap.

Basically you life the lid, add the pod or K-Cup, close and press brew. Water is stored in a reservoir that is enough to make about 12 cups of coffee. When you brew the water is extracted, heated and pressed thorough the k-cup and into your waiting drinking vessel.

I primarily use this in my office, as making one cup of fresh coffee at a time is preferrable to making a pot that may sit there for hours and grow stale. There are also teas and chocolates available. Try getting your regular coffee pot to make hot chocolate.

The negative of this is that it is relatively difficult to get coffee. Places like Wal-Mart or your local food store usually won't carry the k-cups. Instead you will have to go to the store where you purchased it. Of course Amazon.com carries a wide assortment of k-cups.

Also the cups are pretty pricey when compared to ground or even whole bean. About .60 or so a cup.

But for the convenience of one cup at a time, this is one of the better pod units out there. It delivers a steaming hot cup of coffee (or tea or chocolate), quickly and efficiently and without mess.

"Great Father's Day Present"
Haven't have coffee in residence in a long time. Wife and two kids, I am the only one who has a cup of joe, so for the past 10 or so years i have been regulated to drinking coffee at work. I know, what a sad life.

Got this bad boy for Father's Day and my life has been rejuvenated.

No mess, one cup of good coffee. It's so easy to use, my kids want to make me coffee.

(I strongly suggest Black Tiger if you like it strong).

Even makes hot chocolate (and teas) which was a big plus for my family, who like coffee and tea.

Unless you are making coffee for a room for a people, this is the way coffee should be made.

Highly recommend.

"Coffee not strong enough"
I have used the commercial version Keurig at my work for years. While not quite the caliber of a good coffeehouse brew, I find it more than adequate and convenient.

I finally decided to buy the home version. The strength of the brew, even for the smallest cup size, was too watery for me. I tried different coffee varieties including "borrowing" a few of the Extra Bold varieties from my work. It just didn't cut it for me.

If you are okay with a semi-weak brew, this may be the machine for you. I found it to be very well built. It is noisy but only for a few seconds per brew.

"Great for the masses, not so good for Peets' drinkers"
How we got this machine: My husband saw this machine at a second-hand store yesterday and called me up to look it up on Amazon. I was very impressed by the high ratings. Although we were looking at replacing our 15+-yr-old Braun drip that recently died with a new, $200 drip Capresso MT500Plus, I figured that this single-serve machine might just do the trick for our household. My husband likes the free coffee at work, I really only need 6-8 oz in the morning to get me jump-started, and my father-in-law drinks even less. After a brief discussion of the machine's condition - it appeared brand-new and included the box and everything - we decided to go for it.

Opening the box: Hoping we were getting the deal of a lifetime, we eagerly took it out of the box last night to test it out. The assortment of K-cups included coffee brands I had never heard of (Dietrich Coffee, Timothy's, Van Houtte, Green Mountain, Coffee People) and other brands that I don't care for particularly (Caribou Coffee, Tully's, Gloria Jean's, Celestial Seasonings - the one tea). My usual is Peet's, which I like strong but not sludgy, but definitely not light. Only 15 out of 18 K-cups were in the box, so it appeared that the previous owner made a few cups then decided against the machine.

Getting started: We followed the directions to perform the one-time priming of the machine and discovered, happily, that the previous owner had already done it. Because it was late at night, we settled on a pod of Timothy's Decaf Columbian and pressed the button for the small serving size. I read the negative reviews about the noise, and yes, it's definitely noisier than your average drip coffeemaker, but it's the same sound of an espresso maker pump.

Coffee quality: I really, really wanted to believe the good reviews. However, to my dismay, out came the amber-colored water described by the few negative reviews. Sip, blechhhh, disgusting! Maybe because it was decaf. And maybe because it was Timothy's (who dat?). And drat - maybe because the expiration date was two months ago.

Second try: This morning, we chose pods that were slightly fresher, within a month of expiring. My father-in-law made the Dietrich French Roast, and perhaps because he prefers lighter, more watery coffee, he thought the coffee was pretty good. I had the Tully's French Roast, and was again not impressed with the light-colored stream coming out of the machine. After adding my usual half n half, I did end up drinking the whole thing, so eh, I guess it was OK. Not great. Something that would do its job of waking me up, but not something I would look forward to in the morning.

Conclusion: I love the quick single-serve convenience and cleanliness of this machine. I don't have a problem with the noise. I'm fine with the temperature of the coffee. I don't like the pods that came with the box. I plan to get some better (and fresher!) quality pods and will test it out again, but I doubt that will fix the extraction problem. I also plan to buy the reusable filter Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter so I can grind my own beans, but again, I'm not sure that will improve the strength of the coffee. I would not recommend this machine for lovers of strong, Peet's-type coffee. But if you're like my father-in-law and prefer a lighter brew, then this machine is definitely for you!

Also, because of the convenience features and the fact that it would likely satisfy, if not please, the masses, this would be a great machine for office or church settings. In fact, if this machine does not pass further home experimentation with better quality coffee, then it will probably make a wonderful, and very welcome, addition to our Sunday church refreshment table.

"Keurig B40"
This coffeemaker actually keeps me from buying the $4 a cup drive up/walk up window brands. It really does take less than a minute to have a fresh, delicious cup of coffee to grab-n-go. I use it when I am at home, too, and never have stale, burnt, too-weak or too-strong coffee.

I have tried lots of the different pod brands and flavors and found a few that are perfect for me. I also bought the kit to use to make my own pods and the little holster to hold them, so that I can mix-n-match my own blends right at home. I love it.

Buying this coffeemaker was a really wonderful decision. I tell my friends that I now live in Coffee Heaven.

What our customer's say!

"Disappointing", The company does not back their product. I am on my second one and I just shelfed it. It's loud and doesn't make a whole cup of coffee. I will never support this company agian. Very sad.

"not great quality", Item was great when first received. After a few months began having problems - not filling the cups properly. Now the pump appears to be malfunctioning as well. I have followed the directions on how to clean the machine and it has not helped. I have had this machine for about 8 months. I would have expected it to last longer considering the price.

"love this coffee maker", I absolutly love this coffee maker. I use it all the time especially when you only what that last cup of coffee of the night. No need to make a pot. This coffee takes freshly brewed not like instant. After tasting the coffee my friends also bought one.

"Great cup of coffee!", I got one for the office and liked it so much I bought one for home. This is the BEST single-serve coffee out there and I've tried several.

"Awesome machine", Got it last week and just love it. Yes we still make a pot of coffee in the morning with our other machine but this machine is great for a quick cup any time of the day. We turn the machine off after we brew our cups and it still takes less than a minute to fire it up when you are ready for another. I use the large cup setting and the coffee is strong enough for me. I can't believe how fast it makes the coffee and I can't believe how delicious the coffees are! Yes the coffee is a bit pricey but if my husband went to the local coffee shop, it would cost between $1.50 - $3.50 a cup and that doesn't include the fuel to get there, and I think this coffee is better (Breakfast Blend is my favorite). We look forward to trying a new coffee in the afternoon and, after dinner, the decaf is great.
We just wish we had gotten one a long time ago. It will also be great when we travel in the RV. We signed up for the auto delivery and it couldn't be more convenient, plus you save money on the K cup price and shipping is free.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great product", I bought one of these for the house because I had one at work and it is great to have. It is really nice trying all the different flavors of coffee and what not. It is simple to use and easy to clean. It is also very fast. You have your coffee ready in less than a minute.

I have very few gripes. One is cost. Its not too bad but its not cheap either. The other is that it creates a lot of waste. You are tossing little plastic K-cups after every use. That makes the little "My K-cups" that much more attractive.

"Superb Coffeemaker", It is absolutely flawless. Delivers cup after cup of flavored coffee in a snap. Highly recommended.

"Love it", Keurig B40 Elite Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System Love this coffee maker. It provides a good hot cup of coffee. Need to use the larger of the two cup choices for most mugs. Great for unexpected company that wants a cup of tea or coffee. Recommend purchasing the basket that you can use your own coffee or tea in - the Keurig single serve coffees and teas can get expensive.

"Great Coffee Maker", I love it! At first I had a hard time finding coffee that I really liked, I think the coffee included was a bit stale. However, I've found that Timothy's has several that I like, the best being the espresso. Also the coffee shop people coffees are great. I've tried the tea and hot cocoa, too. I'm not much for flavored coffee. It is a bit noisy, but not as bad as the Senseo. It's hard for me to drink other peoples coffee now, even my own from my Bunn. It all takes like dishwater! The down side is the expense of the K-cups. I did buy the use your own coffee part and it works fine, too, just something else to clean. The cheapest place to buy the k-cups is here by subscription. Plus I never stop and buy coffee on the way to work in the morning. Wish I had one in the office, too

"Not my cup of coffee", I bought this for my wife as a gift just over a month ago and she has used it every day since. It seems to be well made and works as advertised. It takes up more room than most other single cup coffee makers, and makes quite a bit of noise when it's brewing, but it doesn't last long and I don't find it a problem.

That's the good news. The bad news is that despite all the flavors available there are none I would rate as outstanding. The machine came with several flavors and my wife immediately ordered every variety pack she could find. Since then I have tried over 30 different flavors and one thing has become abundantly clear: for those who like strong coffee, this is definitely not for you. For Keurig, bold is nothing more than a four-letter word for bitter, the more exotic flavors are weak and disappointing, and the medium roasts are nothing more than dark tea if you make the larger size.

The bottom line is that if you are a coffee connoisseur then avoid this one. It's trendy and most definitely convenient, but if you go this way you will sacrifice flavor. Like so many good technologies dumbed-down for mass production this one falls short.
