Others say...
"Mild spitter." I have been using this steam system for about a month. I am a quilter, so it gets a lot of use several days a week, for several hours a day. It is vastly superior to a regular iron in that it works better and faster. Regular irons spit, gush, leak and then die young, in my experience. I had read about the inconvenience of having to shut off the iron and wait 15 minutes before refilling when the tank runs empty, and the further inconvenience that there is no way to see inside the tank to gauge its fill level to know when it's about to go dry. But I had not read any complaints about spitting. Unfortunately, this iron does spit a bit. At least it's not a gusher. It seems to be the worst when i first use it, so i try to iron the board a bit before I put any fabric under the iron. Before this, I used a similar steam system from Rowenta, which never spit in 3 years but then died a sudden steamless death. The replacement model for that unit is made in China and has poor reviews so I tried the DeLonghi. Given the DeLonghi's fairly reasonable price point for a steam system, I am happy with it overall. It's way better than a regular iron, but not as good as my departed Rowenta. "DeLonghi Stiromeglio Steam Generator Iron" I bought this iron a month ago and have LOVED having it. The first time I used it, I actually went back to my closet looking for more clothes to iron - unheard of! The iron gives off great steam, and the "dry steam" concept is indeed true - the fabric wrinkles are relaxed, but the fabric has only the slightest dampness. Very effective. I also like the smooth soleplate, it really irons the fabric smooth, even difficult fabrics like cotton and linen. I do a lot of garment sewing and the iron has been really good for that as well - a good steam iron is invaluable for sewing. I have used Rowenta steam generator irons in sewing classes, but I prefer the DeLonghi iron to those, it has much more the weight, feel and look of a commercial iron. I highly recommend this iron, for sewing or just for ironing clothing. "Love it!" DeLonghi Stiromeglio Compact PRO 300 Ironing System with Pressurized BoilerJust got my iron and it is marvelous! It's true, you really can iron faster because the steam passes through to the other side. Did a pillow case in 30 seconds. What's the record? With a little practice. Get the Rowenta ironing board to go with itRowenta IB-6200 Professional Ironing Board. It has the right support for the iron boiler and it's nice and wide. You won't be sorry. My wife even likes the system. Henpecked "Simply the Best" I needed a steam iron and made the decision to buy this one after reading the reviews. I agree with one person who said: "If you need a steam iron buy this one." Previously my Jeans and Cotton clothing was sent to the cleaners but not anymore. My jeans as well as other cotton items look professionally done. It does a good job on other fabrics as well, wool, synthetic etc. but follow the instructions. This system took a little getting use but I soon got the hang of it. I pressed blue Jeans and other cotton items without using seam and then steamed them and got a very smooth press. For me, this method was fast and easy. "Now I can't wait to pull out the ironing board..." Not only is this the best iron I have ever used, it also makes ironing fun! Hard to believe but true! No longer do I have to suffer the smell of spray starch or the frustration of seeing wrinkles after spending time diligently ironing shirts. Although this unit is several times more expensive than the average iron you'll immediately see the payback in reduced ironing time and professional results. Not only am I saving $60/month in drycleaning, I no longer need to replace shirts every 6 months due to the harsh drycleaning treatment. So based on my calculations this iron has paid for itself in the first few months of owning it. Well worth the money spent!

What our customer's say! "DeLonghi Stiromeglio Compact Pro 300", DeLonghi Stiromeglio Compact PRO 300 Ironing System with Pressurized Boiler I have owned the Rowenta Expert Steam Generators that I have loved, loved, loved. The first one worked for about 4 years and then stopped steaming. It seemed like the button on the handle was locked or broken. I sent it in for repairs and it was the broiler tank that had gone bad, the cost was about $90.00. It lasted about another 2 years and then quit working. I decided to try a different brand (the Delonghi Compact pro 300) Things I love about this is it is quiet. My old Rowenta was like a generator turning on and off when the boiler would heat up. The steam on the pro 300 is only on the tip of the iron, but there is a lot of steam. It just takes some time getting use to. The plug in cord is nice and heavy but is a little bit on the short side. The biggest draw back is that you can not see the water level. You have to use all the water in the tank before you can refill, but you have to wait for the iron to cool down about 20 minutes before refilling. I get busy and forget and then next time I go to use it there isn't any steam, so you have to turn it off and wait and fill the tank. The cost for one of these irons is well worth it. I use to go through 3 or 4 regular irons a year. You will never have to use a water bottle or starch again! big savings!! "European style pressing", These type of ironing systems can be frequently found European households; chances are you've seen one of these if you've traveled there extensively. This one provides powerful steam and very smooth glide - leagues ahead of most "American-style" household irons... but then again, the price is also leagues-ahead, so it better outperform them! This is not for the ocassional user, but for serious crafters, seamstress or folks that are perfectionists about pressing. You will do better with this than your average dry cleaner pressing. Get ready for the amount of heat generated and be careful with steam burns. I find that it can be too powerful for certain fabrics and that seams tend to get "marked" or fabrics shiny - get ready to use a cloth in between your fabric and the iron... and even still you will get some... exercise care. "Great Product", This iron makes a chore a pleasure. I use a clear plastic tube to determine how much water is left before starting to assure I have enough to finish the project. I think they could have come up with a better way. Other than that, a great tool for the job. "Love this iron! ", I'm a quilter and have always had problems with Rowenta, Shark, etc. spitting after a short while. Read all the reviews here on the DeLonghi and decided to try it. Why not? It comes with a 3 year warranty! I just got this steam iron. So far I'm loving it! The only complaint I would have is that the steam cord could be a bit longer. "The best iron ever!", I read all the reviews because I was deciding between the equivalent Rowenta and this iron. The only aprehension I had was about the business end of the iron - was it easy to maneuver or was it klutzy in the hand? It was difficult to determine from the picture. Since there was no mention of such a problem in the reviews, I had faith and went ahead. The minute I saw it I knew it was perfect. It could not be more graceful - not heavy at all, glides like satin and the steam is amazing. My husband came into the room while I was pressing a tailored outfit I was making as a gift for my sister and he said "It smells like a tailor shop here". I said I love that smell and he said he does too! Even if you have to stretch the budget, do it, buy this. It's an investment - one of the better ones these days! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "I hate ironing ", I used to hate ironing, but now I love it!!!!!!!!!! This is the best iron I ever had. It used to take me 20-30 min. to iron my husband's dress shirt, but now it takes 5 min.!!! I had to wait over two months to get the iron, but it is nothing compared with the comfort and pleasure of ironing with it now. If you need a new iron buy this one and nothing else! "Simply the best", I iron every day. For the past eight years, I've used "steam generator" irons. Without question, this is the finest I've ever purchased. The feature of being able to move the cord for right or left handed use is brilliant. It also helps even if you move the iron and your plug is in a different spot. The pressurized steam is extremely hot and powerful. The cork handle never gets too hot to handle as many other brands do. No matter what setting it is on it NEVER drips, which happened with all my other brands of steam generator irons (Rowenta included). The best $200 I ever spent! "Another happy DeLonghi Iron User", Add me to the list of happy PRO 300 ironers: I'm not sure that it cut my ironing time in half, but at least I feel that I'm actually accomplishing something by ironing, not just running a flat thing over wrinkles. "Design flaws", I like this iron, but beware: 1) I scorched the dining room table, even though I put the iron base unit on a thick towel. 2) I thought I had turned it off, since I pressed both on/off buttons for steam and heat and they never lit up, but it was on and stayed on for several hours until I smelled the hot iron and unplugged it. 3) There is no water level indicator. So you have to pour the water in until it overflows. And you don't know when you're going to run out, which is inconvenient, since you have to wait until the iron cools down before adding more water. "A very good iron", The first DeLonghi iron I received was defective. After I received the second one, I realized what I had been missing with irons. I had a Rowenta P2 for the past 5 years and it was a competent iron, however, the DeLonghi is on a different level. The quality of the press is very high and it generates a considerable amount of steam. My only complaint with it is that after you steam with it for a brief time, the steam light turns off and you need to wait for the boiler to build up pressure again. I would like for the iron to have a larger boiler that can contain more steam. Overall, I am pleased with the product. ![]() |
