Others say...
"cup-a-day" Senseo single serve coffee maker. We are not heavy coffee drinkers but do like a cup once in a while. This machine fits our needs nicely. Quick and easy,no waste,no mess. We also have an option as to flavors. Sometimes my Bride has a decaf and I can have the high test. Good product, great price. "LOVE IT!!! " We absolutely LOVE this machine! Love the variety of coffe on a whim; we don't think it is all that expensive. If you average it out, it's .25 cents per cup, or .50 if you are having a coffee mug sized cup. It's ALOT cheaper than Starbucks and we like it better than Starbucks! The Capaccino is fabulous, and 16 pods at Target is $4.00 dollars, also available at Walmart. We bought the model that already comes with the larger water dispenser, I would recommend buying the XL water tank if you are buying a model with a regular sized tank. We also purchased the Pod Maker and Pods to make our own tea's and grind our own coffees for the Pods. We found our machine on Amazon NEW for $50.00....I bought the Pod Maker, extra pods and the machine for $125.00 with shipping. We could not be happier with this product, we drink coffee night and day and we like it fresh...so this is the perfect coffee maker for us. I will definitely recomend this to everyone I know. "GREAT- if you're into weak coffee" I read all the reviews and was troubled with the ones that mentioned the coffee being weak... They were right. I had some coffee that had been made with this machine at a relative's home and thought it was quite good. Sadly, I could not get the coffee strength up. I tried stronger roasts like the Sumatra that some reviewers commented on. If you use two pods of that and set it for one cup, you get what I would call a passable, light cup of coffee. To make matters a little worse, the machine did not ship with all that was promised. Instead of a thermal mug, one small glass Sanseo mug was substituted. The two canisters were not included with my order. The coffee was there, but I really didn't care for it (aside from the brew strength issue.) If you're someone that doesn't like very strong coffee, this machine might be perfect. It does make a cup rather quickly, with nice crema. In my pursuit of a better coffee maker, I very nearly bought a Jura Capresso J5, but at the last minute spotted a deal at Costco for an all metal Saeco Incanto Super Automatic Espresso Maker. I'll let you know how that goes. "If you like strong coffee, forget it" My wife and I were wasting lots of coffee by making big pots and getting up at different times, so we thought the Senseo was perfect for us--fresh coffee on demand, no waste. It's a great concept, but unfortunately the Senseo machine has two fundamental limitations if you like strong, European style (or even just Starbucks style) coffee: the double pod holder (it comes with two of them, including a smaller single pod holder) does not hold enough coffee (that is to say, the pods are too small, and even if they weren't, the double pod holder is), and you are limited to the predetermined one-cup or two-cup amount of heated water dispensed for each serving. The result? Too much water for too little coffee, even on the strongest setting, which is two pods for 4 oz. of water. If you like strong coffee, you will be very disappointed, and you will spend a king's ransom doubling up on pods for each serving, only to be disappointed anyway with the flavor. Shortly after deciding the Senseo would not work (and trying countless other pods--the best, by the way, are the Target French Roast pods: beefier than the Senseo pods and cheap, but two of them won't fit in the double pod holder), I bought a Hamilton Beach "Three In One" machine for 20 bucks at Target. This is the machine you want. Why? It is essentially a modified drip coffee maker in miniature, but without the "stay warm" heating element that fries the coffee. You decide how much coffee to put in the small, 1 cup permanent filter (included) and you decide how much water to put in the reservoir, which holds about 12-14 ounces. You can make it to your taste--super strong or super weak--and even if you max out the amount of water you use, the filter holds more than enough coffee for even the stiffest brew. Once loaded, you flip the lid down and it dispenses a super-hot big mug of real, fresh-brewed coffee in under 2 minutes. Also, it will just dispense super hot water if you want tea or ramen. For 20 bucks. No waste, rinse the permanent filter in the disposal half of your sink or compost the grounds if you like, and you're done. I like the Senseo concept a lot and tried everything to make it work, but until they tweak the proportions between coffee and water, it's worthless for us strong coffee drinkers. "Didnt do it for me, sorry!" My Senseo unit was a survey gift, with me only paying S&H of $15.00. Im glad I tried the little bugger because I thought it would be the answer to my love for coffee, and my wife not drinking it at all. HOWEVER....what they dont tell you is that it takes two of the pricey little pods to make an 8 ounce cup of coffee. And for my taste it just didnt do any beter job than my Melita one cup filter holder that I can use any coffee I want in it. The senseo is cute and trendy and makes a pretty frothy foam on top, but I just dont see paying around 50 or 60 cents for an 8 ounce cup of coffee at home, when for that price or pennies more I can make an entire pot of Kona or any other coffee I choose. I know my opinion is in the minority here. And I may keep it around and try the refillable pod (Making it more economical) or homemade pods, but if that does not work, my free Senseo is headed for a landfill somewhere near you!!!!!

Senseo Coffee Pod System with Holiday Gift Pack
What our customer's say! "Enough of good coffee", I often read people's reviews before buying a product to get a true experience; so here it goes: I have had my Senseo machine for 3 years now and am very happy with it and the coffee it serves. My wife drinks no coffee (love's tea) but finds the Senseo machine very handy and easy to use. It even saves the coffee we otherwise would have to throwaway if we would make a full size pot. The machine serves small cups of good quality (Dutch brand) coffee within 3 minutes, including filling the water container, placing the pod (single filtered coffee serving), heating the water, and pressing it ready to drink into your cup. The machine is very popular in Europe, Holland especially, partially because of the combination of two popular name brands of the coffee (Douwe Egberts) and the electronic manufacturer (Philips) in combination with good marketing strategies. Don't expect to fill your travel mug with this Senseo machine, as its primary focus is for you to sit down and enjoy a small cup of coffee, with the emphasis on small and sitting down. If you like coffee from any of the fast-food restaurants or common known coffee place, you will probably find it difficult to accept to get enough good coffee in your own home just from the push of a button on this Senseo machine. Keep in mind that the coffee pods, sold in packs, are somewhat expensive, but come in several different flavors. In Europe they sell many more different kinds, but slowly they are introduced on the US market as well. The machine is very solid compared to comparable machines that I have tested in the store. The Senseo machine is easy to clean, much easier than cleaning any other coffee pot/machine by hand. It also fits well on your kitchen counter and is easy to move around. I even took it with me on a road trip twice to use at the hotel. All of the family and friends that visit and try this coffee came back, so that is a good sign I guess. They also inquired about the machine and asked to try out different flavors. The limit quantity of coffee one cup serves is justified by the aroma and crème-like taste the Senseo coffee creates. It is the closest it gets to European (non-Italian) coffee at home available in the US. I am very happy with my Senseo machine. My suggestion is to wait until Senseo comes out with rebates and discounts at least twice a year. See website. "Expensive for everyday, weak coffee but easy to use...", I have had this coffee maker for at least 2 years and it runs fine but is now in my garage hoping to find a new home. I have brought it in and out of the house to try the new flavors of coffee but inevitably it ends up back in the garage. I love good tasting coffee and am a complete coffee addict. I ordered this machine thinking that the coffee would taste more like coffee that I had in Europe and was very disappointed. I tried all of the different flavors that they came out with but found that I need to use two of the coffee pods per one cup of coffee! Expensive!!! It makes the coffee nice and frothy on top which I like but the flavor was still lacking. I am back to using my regular coffee pot with tasty coffe that I can make to a desired strength and enjoy 2 cups for a decent price. "Not for coffee lovers..", I've been a coffee fan since my stint in the Marines, and all through my 35+ years in the gaming industry in Nevada. I own, almost new and used, six coffee makers. This is one of them, and it resides in a storage closet with the other five after only a week's worth of use. In that same closet is about $30+ worth of coffee pods. My experience with this coffee maker was a disappointing, and expensive one. The pods can cost up to three times as much as gourmet whole bean coffee, and, at best, only produces less than one half of the taste and flavor. For me, it's far weaker than the Tasters Choice instant coffee I keep around for a quick cup of coffee. This Senseo machine looks nice, but fails to do its job. This machine will not produce a good cup of coffee. I admit that I was, at first, intrigued by the idea of a good quick cup of coffee, but the reality is that this machine does not produce one, and is very expensive to use. The coffee in the brand-new pods tastes stale, and is not of excellent quality, even though you are more than paying for that. Maybe it's because of the design of the machine, but I was never able to extract the full flavor of the coffee pod in the 30 seconds it takes to brew a cup of coffee. In frustration, and because the coffee is so expensive, I have run the brewed coffee through the machine again, trying to get a more full-bodied taste. That failed to show any improvement. "Love My Senseo Coffee", I have had my Senseo coffee maker for 5 years now and I love the way the coffee tastes. It's so much better than coffee prepared the regular way. I would never want to go back to that. The pods make it super easy. No grounds to throw away. I would like to see Phillips update the design and offer it in stainless steel. My only complaint is that the pod holder lid cannot be fully opened without hitting the bottom of the wall cabinet. So I have to pull it out to the edge of the counter every time I use it. "expensive and did not work", I purchased this product as it is very hard to locate a pod coffee maker in a rural area. It was pretty pricey and when it finelly arrived it did not work at all. That was quite some time ago and I sent it back but am still waiting on a refund. It was not worth the hassle. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Best Coffeemaker Ever!", Fast, Fresh,Frothy cup of coffee everytime. No waisting coffee as each cup is brewed when needed. Clean up is so easy. I'll never mess with grounds again. "Love it", Bought one of these a few years back and then purchased 2 of these gift packages for family for Christmas and they love it too. Decided that this would be a perfect pot for office, so had to buy another one! The coffee is great and there is no old coffee sitting in the pot. "Innovative, Fast, & Easy~Great Coffee!", I am so pleased with this coffee maker!! I'm a certified coffee snob and former Starbucks employee, so I'm a bit picky when it comes to coffee. I've tried all kinds of coffee makers, from the french press to the Mr. Coffee, to the high end. Always, it takes a while to brew a pot and there is a mess to clean up (especially when my husband is in charge of brewing). The Senseo is fast, easy, efficient, and produces great coffee...one cup at a time. I've tried several of the different pods and like them all. At first I was concerned about the cost of purchasing pods, but since I only use one at a time for the larger cup of coffee, it is really quite economical. I bought my senseo in the blue, which is really pretty and looks nice on the counter. My hubby was apprehensive about this maker at first, but now he absolutely loves it and wants to buy one for his office. Easy to use, easy to clean, and you have a cup ready in less than a minute after turning on the machine. Absolutely a 5 star rating for this product. "Not a fan", My family and I did not like the smell nor the taste of the coffee - we tried the sumatra blend, medium roast and cappuccino. "Piece of Junk", In less than a month, my Senseo is already broken. The top no longer seals off and when the pot brews coffee leaks everywhere. ![]() |
