"Rachael Ray East/West Knife"
Best knife I've ever owned. Super sharp. Makes me feel like a professional! Love it!

"Pleasantly surprised"
After reading some professionals pan this knife, I wasn't expecting much. However, when it was on sale for $23.99, I couldn't pass it up. Glad I didn't. I'm not a pro, but when I cook I end up doing a lot of chopping. I chopped onions and garlic last night to make red beans and rice, and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to handle those chopping chores. Yes, it is a little blade heavy, but that's how I like it. And the handle is substantial, which is important for my large hands. I compared this Furi to my Henckels Pro S Santoku and the Henckels knife looks like a wimp compared to the Furi. The 8-inch Henckels Pro S Chef's Knife is the only knife in my Henckels set that has the heft of the Furi. I might just add more Furi knives and give the Henckels to relatives.

"Furi Rachael Ray "
My kids purchased the three piece set for me for Christmas and I loved them so much I had to purchase the 7". I love it, works great, best knives I owne."

"GREAT knife!"
I bought one of these for my daughter (paid a lot more!) a year ago. After using hers a few months ago, I fell in love with it. It feels great in the hand, is nicely weighted, and cuts really well. I bought mine from Amazon and am loving it.

"I've had better"
The cheap, gummy, orange handle makes this knife a no-go. I'm sure there are those who love it, but when given this knife as a gift, I was disappointed that I didn't get the one I really wanted. Who ever came up with the idea of an orange handle? Ick!

As with some santukos, it doesn't do well slicing through melons and other larger items. You would do better with a chef's knife. But other model santukos beat this one in performance, in my opinion.

Buying a knife is a very individual thing, and people choose what fits their hands. I happen to prefer something with a real handle that doesn't feel like it's chapstick-coated. If you have larger hands, as I do, you may wish to try something else.

What our customer's say!

"Great knife for the money", I think I paid thirty some dollars for this knife when amazon was having some sale. For the money it is a great knife. The handle is very easy to grip and it does not get slippery at all. The blade is very substantial and sharp. It is balanced well too. I am not sure how much I would pay for it, but if you can get it for less than $40 it is a great deal.

"Rachael Ray knife", I don't find this sharp at all. My neighbor who is a gourmet cook offered to sharpen it for me. He thought it was either defective or a piece of junk. I agree. I have the smaller one and it is much sharper.

"Grip coming loose", We bought the 7-inch knife a little over a year ago via one of the Amazon sellers and have enjoyed using it. However, I've noticed the grip is starting to come loose. Due to the angle of the "wobble", I'm concluding that the tang does not extend all the way through the handle, which is something I would expect on an expensive knife. The tang is also very thin, like you would expect to see on a file or rasp. I've looked on line in order to contact furi directly, but can't seem to find any way to contact them. BTW, we take care of our knives carefully and don't put them in the dishwasher or abuse them in any way.

"happywithpurchase", This is by far a great knife. I expected that It might rust after being washed a few times and I did have a few rust spots that came up on it but I oiled it and they came off. Since then, I haven't seen anymore. I must say that I love this knife!!! I can say you will not be disappointed with this knife. I did get this knife on sale, not sure I would have paid the full price beforehand but now I can say that I would.

"Furi Knife", This is probably the best knife I have ever owned. When I purchased this knife, I also purchased the Furi Sharpening Systems. The Sharpening systems keeps this knife really sharp. I would strongly recommend this knife to anyone.

"Celebrity costs $$$$$", Note: See addition of Jan 02/07 at end.

Rachel Ray is very entertaining, I very much enjoy her show (30-Minute Meals). I watch it frequently. I saw her bio and she is a wonderful person.

But a "Rachel Ray" BRAND??!! Has she tested and compared? - or just succumbed to $$$ from a shadow manufacturer? I venture to guess that Forschner makes a better knife for less $$$. I do know that Forschner knives are outstanding because I own five. The Forschner Santoku is the same size and design as this for $17 less. And you know who makes it.

I don't own even one RR knife because I really don't fancy paying RR and a "shadow" manufacturer a celeb commission for an orange handle.

ADDED Jan 02/08: I did this review because I have come to the opinion that vendors of "celeb" merchandise depend more on the celeb magnet than on quality and service. As just one example, see my review of the George Foreman GRP99 grill (and the complaints of many others). In perusing reviews of various merchandise on various sources, I see that "celeb" merchandise is often of low or middling quality at upscale prices. Believe me, when you buy celeb merchandise you do pay a good price for those orange handles.

And if your orange handle turns purple and stains your counter top, what manufacturer do you complain to?

Again, I want to stress that I have absolutely nothing against or criticism of RR. I think she is a completely honest and nice person. And her enthusiasm is most entertaining and enjoyable.

"Furi knife", Throw out all your other "carving" knives...this is the only one you'll ever need! Also check out Furi's paring knives then throw out all you others as well!

"Tacky Handle Helps", This is my first "Santoku" style knife. I am more familiar with the "Chefs" style knife.
I'm very happy with my new Füri Rachael Ray Gusto Grip 7-Inch Knife ! I was a cook in the military for 6 years and I know that a good knife is essential. I'm also a Vegetarian which means I chop a ton of vegetables. I was extremely apprehensive about ordering a knife over the internet because I'm a guy with large hands, so finding a knife handle that fits me is ALWAYS a problem. For me, I find that the handle is a bit on the small side, but the tackiness of the "gusto grip" handle helps with the stability I feel with the knife. Other than the handle, this knife is great.

"a nice knife , great price", I own a set of Henckels knives but wanted a santuko knife. I went looking and really liked how this knife felt in my hand. It was a bit cheaper than the henckels that matched my set, so I decided to give it a try. It feels good, cuts well, very sharp. My only comment is that it came with 3 stickers ON THE BLADE!!! Advertising stickers. I had to soak the knife overnight to get them off and can still see the marks from the adhesive on the blade. Obviously, that doesn't affect the performance of the knife, but I can't see Henckels or Wustoff ever putting stickers on the blade...

"Awesome", My mom loves her knife. I have used it at her house and I wish I had one.
