"Great Blender"
This blender is almost a food processor. I use it primarily for smoothies, but it will chop up the fruit, and the ice very quickly and deliver a delicious smoothy in no time. It's also very, very easy to clean. I'm really happy with what I got for such a decent price.

"Planned Obsolescence???"
I would like to give this blender no stars but I am not allowed. I expected a Bruan product, which cost $45, to last longer than 5 months.
I bought this blender in Dec 07 and it worked great for 5 months. I made numerous smoothies with milk, yogurt, bananas and frozen strawberries. Then one day the blender only had one extremely fast and rough speed. Two uses later, the blender died. The motor turns but the blades do not.
I will quote Onur Usmen "turkob" who put this perfectly:
"It seems my blender has succumbed to the same fate as many others have listed here: the plastic gears on the motor no longer catch the blade. I don't feel like hassling with sending this in for repairs, so it looks like I'll be buying a different blender. What a disappointment!"
In closing let me say I will not be purchasing Braun appliances in the future.

"Purchase with Caution"
I purchased this blender and it worked perfectly on the first try. I attempted to use it again yesterday and smelled burning plastic. It was not blending my strawberry and banana smoothie & I had not even used ice in it. I am not impressed with this product and am afraid to plug it in to see if it starts. I can not afford to have wasted $50 on this blender and also have my home burned down - all because I wanted a protein smoothie!

"Light use only"
Initially, my wife and I were very happy with this product when we purchased it back in Feb 2007. But now in June 2008 it is dying after only light usage.

It does seem have a very powerful motor and seems to make small batches of smoothies or margaritas with frozen fruit as long as you don't fill it more than 1/3 - 1/2 full. Our usage has been light, probably 3x a week at the most.

Here we are 16 months later and it has started a "screaming" noise and it definately sounds (smells) like it is starting to burn out.

Granted it is an inexpensive blender and maybe we should have used it more for "blending" instead of crushing. It just seems we just haven't used it that much. This time around we've got to find something that is tailored to the task with a better track record.

"Great Mixer!"
I bought my first Braun MX2050 over a year ago and liked it so much I bought two more, one for my girlfriend's house and one for my office. Great mixer and very dependable.

What our customer's say!

"Reviews were decieving, personal experience expensive", My husband bought this blender for me due to top billings from Consumer Reports. The first blender burned out the motor upon its first attempt at usage out of the box. Braun replaced the motor and we tried again but the second motor didn't even make it a whole year. The blender really never worked very good. It couldn't move contents efficiently, the blades would bind up, and we would get the occasional messy surge. We're through with this product and will be moving on to another make and model but I just hate contributing more new junk to the landfill! Not many things are made to the quality I expect anymore!

"Braun MX2050 Blender", I have used the blender now everyday for a month and have found it to be exactly what I needed. Fruit smoothies are my breakfast of choice and this appliance works beautifully on them. I also made a great hollandaise sauce with it. 5 stars.

"Better than my professional blender", This blender makes the smoothest drinks I have ever made at home, and works better than my $250 blender at work. What a deal!

"plastic gear lost teeth", consumers report rated this as a good buy, so i did.
almost all the teeth came off very quickly........

"BRAUN BLENDER ALRIGHT", I like my new Braun blender.
I use it primarily for smoothies and it works well-even with frozen berries.
I am a little worried about longivity as the gears seem to be flimsy plastic--
Time will tell

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Best Ever", Bought this as a gift for my wife after reading many reviews. We have owned several blenders, but this one is, "the best one ever", says my wife. She says is makes perfect smoothies, crushes ice and is very easy to clean. It has been in use at least every other day since Mother's day without problems.

"Buy this one!", My husband and I use the blender every day at breakfast. This is our second Braun - the one before lasted us @ 3 years - the plastic "teeth" on the cutter blade finally broke off from all the use. I love that it's made of glass and not plastic. This blender stands up to crushing ice cubes with no problems. We've also used it to make baby food (purees). For the price, you really can't go wrong.

"my review of braun blender powerMax 525 watt, 58 0z. jug blender. ", One time I didn't have the blender in right , so it was vibrating and the rubber around the base was worn away and it was smeling like it was burning.
But now I put the juj into the base , securely and everything is ok

So all in all I think it's a great blender......................

"A Mess", Apparently designed by retarded monkeys (smart ones could do better). The inner top does not cover the three notches where it fits in and twists. As a result, the liquid splashes up and out of the container every time you start it up more than 1/4 full. I returned this one.

"Good low-cost blender", This is the second Braun MX2050 PowerMax 525-Watt 58-Ounce Jug Blender I've bought, and I suppose the fact that I've bought two of them isn't the most compelling recommendation. But here's my take on it.

The blender costs $50. In that price range, the quality is universally not so great, and the competing blenders seem to be far inferior to this one, both in terms of blending ability and durability. This one rises to the top of the pack for blending ability in this price range.

This blender has a nicely designed blade and jug that does a decent job of blending a variety of foods, including ice cubes. Yes, it's only 525 watts, which is somewhat anemic compared to the REAL blenders like Vitamix or K-Tec. But they start at $400. And many blenders are even less powerful.

The critical flaw with this blender is the plastic gear and drive shaft that link the motor to the metal blade in the jug. It is cheap and it breaks. The first time I broke a plastic part was due to ongoing usage mainly making smoothies with ice cubes, but no particular incident. The plastic drive mechanism on the bottom of the jug that attaches it to the base wore out. I replaced it under warranty.

The second time was a specific incident in which I started the blender quickly while it was loaded with food. There was something a little brittle and hard near the bottom, which broke a part (probably plastic) in the blender base. The blender was gone, but I liked it so much I bought the new, somewhat updated second generation version. Unfortunately, they didn't fix the fatal flaw in the new one, just made it prettier.

So if you decide to take the risk and buy this blender, use it as gently as possible. Introduce solids as gently and gradually as possible, preferably into the spinning blade with other blended foods/liquids at the bottom of the jug.

I have used the blender about 3 times a day for 16 months, and I've essentially destroyed it twice, if that gives you any sense of how long it will last for you. Maybe you'll be more careful than I was. And if you're luckly, it'll break under warranty the first time!

Steve
