Others say...
"Coffee tepid after an hour" Brews fast and hot, but the coffee cooled off too quickly in the carafe. The outside of the carafe is warm to the touch and coffee was tepid after an hour and room temperature after 2 or 3 hours. "Great coffee, great coffee maker" My husband and I agree that the coffee tastes better than with our old Cuisanart. We did have to experiment with the amount of beans we grind but now we have found the perfect amount. Another big advantage over our Cuinart is the thermal carafe. First it isn't fragile like a glass carafe. Secondly we can bring the carafe to where we are sitting and it stays hot. No more getting up for more coffee because the carafe needs to stay on the warming plate. Coffee stays at the perfect temperature for over an hour or more. If we reheat the carafe the coffee stay acceptably hot for a lot longer. As for the issue that the water gauge is difficult to read we found a simple solution-we turn the coffee maker so the gauge is angled more towards us. No problem. We have no problems with over-filling and water spilling out. Initially add water slowly to see if the red ball has moved because it doesn't move right away. When the red ball rises carefully add the rest of the water. Again no problem. I highly recommend the Capresso if you like a great cup of coffee. "Capresso is fantastic" This is a great coffee maker. I was looking for a carafe coffee maker after our cuisinart coffee pot broke. The Capresso makes excellent coffee, is really well designed with a simple screw on lid for the carafe and makes coffee so fast it is crazy. I also happen to love the design - not that I really care what it looks like if it makes good coffee, but you get your cake and eat it too with this coffee maker. Highly recommend if you want to pay a bit more for a coffee maker. Bottom line if you drink coffee every day and in particular throughout the day (as the carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours) then this is a great choice. "Awesome machine!" I love everything about this coffee maker! It looks great and it makes a great cup of coffee. I have not a had a single complaint about it so far. "An Excellent Product" What else is there to say... it brews a fine cup of coffee and keeps it hot and fresh for hours. No more burned coffee after 45 minutes!

What our customer's say! "The second best drip coffee maker and worth the price!", If you are looking to brew fresh ground coffee at the right temperature, with the correct amount of water contact time, there are very limited choices of machines from which to choose. The hundreds of "Mr. Coffee" type brewers are all basically the same and simply don't do right by the beans. Water too hot, not hot enough, brew too fast or too slow. The Technivorm is, arguably the only other option. It costs a bit more. The Capresso MT-500 is certainly more commercially available, on line and at higher-end kitchen/home retail stores. It is a proven machine having been available unchanged for some years now. The are only two choices here: all metal alloy or the model with the black plastic coffee filter holder unit. You choose whichever model fits your kitchen style. The thermal carafe does indeed keep the brew hot for a couple of hours (as advertised) and is a far better idea than a glass carafe sitting on a warmer plate. It's not likely anyone interested in correctly brewing coffee would be doing that, right? The Capresso also features a built-in activated charcoal filter to remove chlorine and contaminants from the water before it gets to the beans, in case you're stuck using water from the tap. If you're not so picky about your coffee and simply drink the stuff for the buzz, save your money and buy a cheapy, leave the brew on the warmer until it burns, break the glass carafe and replace it or the whole machine a few times and so be it. But if you want to really *taste* the coffee and are stimulated more by the fresh brewed aroma than the caffeine, then step up to a coffee brewer that does it right. "Excellent Machine - Fears Unfounded", After researching online, I purchased this coffee maker at a local store for the same price. We are very pleased with the quality of the machine and the coffee it makes. Used for about a month and have never experienced any of the concerns posted on this long list of reviews. The machine makes excellent coffee and does so consistently. Our typical dark roast coffees taste great but what surprised me the most was the flavor found in lighter roast coffees - they seemed more alive and nuanced than I'd ever appreciated before. All the other negatives mentioned here - spilling, hard to use, ergo - have not been observed. It's not hard to use at all and I'd definitely recommend. "Best Coffeemaker I've ever owned!!!!", Its a bold statement, but I truly mean it. This machine is easy to use, makes a GREAT pot of coffee, very easy to clean up, and you don't have to worry about whether you'll come home to a blackened carafe (or worse, a burnt down house) because you've left the burner on when you left the house. The only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars is you can't put your hand all the way into the pot to clean it (you'll need to use a bottle cleaner to do that) and honestly, the coffee doesn't stay piping hot for hours as it's been suggested. It's warm, but you'll need to re-heat within 20-30 minutes after making the fresh pot. When making your coffee, the recommended directions are easy and pretty accurate. Fill the water tank by measuring the water using the cup you would be drinking from. Then read the water level and fill with equal amount for the coffee scoops (i.e. if the water level is at 6, then use 6 ROUNDED scoops of coffee). In my opinion, it was worth every penny. Oh, speaking of pennies...think the cost is high? Consider shopping at one of those "beyond" stores and utilize their discount coupons you normally get in the mail. They don't usually have stock, but will ship to your home and may even wave the S&H fees if you ask. We paid $148 after discount applied. "Spare yourself the grief", Wish I had an alternative to suggest. I bought this model several years ago after lots of research. Almost immediately, the led readout started blinking, apparently wanting another filter, although obviously the filter was brand new. Yes, yes, I tried fixing it. We've replaced the filter several times; the light has never stopped flashing. Yes, that's a small thing. The programmable feature does work, it's not the easiest thing to manage. As other reviewers have mentioned, the coffee-us interruptus feature is tricky and the carafe is prone to spill. I have gotten used to always having a towel nearby to clean up after pouring. The thermal carafe is a nice feature and I will look for it in my next coffee maker, which I can't wait to purchase. None of these problems would really bug me if I'd spent $20-$30 on the machine. But for these bucks, it should have been flawless and worked forever. Like in the olden days, when appliances were built to last, she said, adjusting her girdle. "Simple and reliable", This product looks great in our kitchen, sleek and simple with a small footprint. We don't use all the bells and whistles available, but it provides simple one-button use. The water is a little difficult to pour in the back because of the narrow front-to-back reservoir. The insulated carafe is durable and does a good job of keeping the coffee warm. To pour the coffee properly, you need to remove the top completely, a minor inconvenience. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Use a tray to save the day!", This is a great looking coffeemaker that is worth its "premium" price. I think it makes the best tasting coffee I have ever had! I use a measured 1/3 cup drip grind Vienna roast from Coffee Fool (www.coffeefool.com) to make a pot, so I am starting with sweet, flavorful grounds. I use bottled spring water, too, and a brown paper #4 filter instead of the basket that comes with it. Of course, the pot overflows coffee unless you are VERY careful. If you put in a drop too much water, if the pot cover hasn't been shaken to guarantee the ball is loose, and if you haven't checked to make sure the pot and brewing basket are lined up perfectly, you WILL have coffee all over the counter. I use a rimmed tray under the pot because even as careful as I am, I still have overflow problems. At least the tray confines the spill, keeps it from running off the counter into the drawers below, and makes cleaning up much easier. This would be a six star product on a five star scale without the overflow problem, and I considered giving it a three, but decided even with the spill problem it is worth a four. "thanks amazon reviewers", [ASIN:B000063XHI Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker with Thermal Carafe]] When I needed to replace my Krups electric coffeemaker, the model I wanted was no longer available. After much searching on Amazon, I decided to purchase the Capresso machine. I'd never heard of this brand, but it had the stainless carafe that I like, and other features I'm used to, and after reading all the reviews from Amazon customers,I felt comfortable about trying this brand. Once again, Amazon customers haven't let me down. The coffeemaker is good looking, works well, and makes great coffee. I'm used to the thermal carafe, so have no problem with opening and closing the top, or overflow. My ONLY wish is that it was a 12 cup pot, but it brews so fast that I just make a second pot. Thanks Amazon. "You get what you pay for", Excellent review after several weeks using the Capresso. I was actually a little concerned about the spilling issue after reading some of the previous reviews, but honestly you really need to be careless to let it happen - just align the carafe well and it works flawlessly (not a single spill and making coffe twice a day now for almost a month). Key pros: carafe mantains coffee temperature really well; coffee is hot and nice upon brewing; strength is also very good, and responds very well to variations in ground coffee quantity; maker and carafe look nice in the kitchen; timer works really well to let the coffe ready in the morning. Minor con: every time you unplug it you have to adjust the clock again - should have a battery backup. All in all extremely satisfied with the purchase, strongly recommend it. "finally, great coffee!!!!", after many makers, this one is great. I have had nothing but great results. we grind our own beans and keep the machine nice and clean. About 6 months old now. Used every day. Regarding getting hot coffee, don't run cold water in the thermos prior. It will cool the coffee. If you must, then run hot water to warm it first. But room temp seems to work fine. Overall, great machine, looks great and together with a burr grinder it makes a wonderful cup of joe! "Gorgeous machine but lukewarm coffee", I own Capresso's top-of-the-line grinder (the Capresso 565.04 Infinity Burr, Brushed Chrome), and it's perfection. So, inspired by the grinder's workhorse reliability and the positive reviews here, I bought this coffeemaker, too. The coffeemaker is a work of art, with its sleek modern design and gleaming stainless. I was impressed that it came with a charcoal water filter and permanent gold filter. And the coffee really DID taste better than with my old Cuisinart. Alas, even with that thermal carafe, the coffee was never hot. Even the first cup was lukewarm. Forget about that 2nd cup an hour later. I tried it for a month, but then returned it for a refund. ![]() |
