Others say...
"Coffee maker" This is the best Coffe maker I have had. Keep Coffee very hot and is very Quick to make a good cup of coffee. No problems and had it for a few months now. "Mr COFFEE 12 CUP Coffee Maker RED" I do love this coffee maker, it is the 2nd I bought. Although its life span is a short one. My sister went through 3 of these in a 1 year period. It just starts leaking for no apparent reason. It matches my other appliances perfectly (red chrome), so I took a chance, hoping I would get a good one. My first one lasted 8 months. (I remember my parents had a Mr Coffee maker that lasted 15 years!) It has a lot of features I like- for instance, it has the see through glass measuring window, and it dosen't soak the counter when you open the top lid to make the coffee. And you can pour the water on either side which is great since I have a faucet with a hose attachment that I use to fill it instead of pouring water in with the caraffe which can get messy. I keep the coffee maker right next to my sink at all times for this reason. I just wish it had a longer life span. Hopefully with enough complaints & returns, the company will fix the problem. "Interesting to look at but poorly made" I bought this a year ago and recently began having problems with it. It beeps to notify you it is done brewing, but it does not finish brewing. I pour 12 cups of water in and get 8 cups back. If I tap the side of it and leave it for over an hour it will eventually come near to finish brewing - say about 10 cups - but leaving it on the hot plate for over an hour does not make for good tasting coffee. The first time this happened I didn't notice it hadn't made the whole 12 cups until I had already shut it off. The next morning when I poured 12 cups in it leaked all over the counter because the reservoir was full; this was my first indication that it hadn't been done brewing. It is an interesting design, particularly for a retro kitchen, but I recommend buying something else that won't cause problems in a year. I won't purchase Mr. Coffee products in the future. "Coffeemaker gone crazy !" 12C Coffee Maker- Red I got this coffeemaker a little less than a year ago and also LOVED it. I usually set up my coffee the night before so it's ready to go in the a.m. The other night when I grabbed hold of the carafe it was boiling hot! Apparently the burner plate never switched off, even though the brew cycle/timer beeped and presumably turned off that morning. I'm very thankful the coffee pot didn't crack or burst or worse yet start a fire! I checked everything to see if there was some way I could turn it off but unplugging it was the only way. I actually set up the machine for the next morning's coffee brew but left it unplugged. The brew cycle worked the next morning but again the plate got so hot and would not shut off. This morning I tried to use it again and made the mistake of plugging it in before I poured the water in and it IMMEDIATELY started hissing and steaming and the burner plate was piping hot within seconds BEFORE I pushed the button to start the brew cycle. Needless to say I unplugged and will not use it again. It worked fine before this and was used everyday. I didn't abuse it in any way and NO I don't work for a rival company. I am really surprised there hasn't been a recall on this appliance. Not only would I not recommend this product I strongly urge those of you who have it to check it on a regular basis to make sure it hasn't gone crazy on you like mine did. "Looks great, works perfectly" I've had mine now for one year. Love it! Never had a problem. I grind me beans fine and make a strong a pot of coffee every Fri-Sun.

Mr. Coffee FTX29 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Red
Why I buy this one ? - SOMC (Sunbeam,Oster, etc) - 12c Coffeemaker- Red Special offer for you..find the cheapest! What our customer's say! "Mr. Coffee FTX29", This is our family's second purchase of this particular model of coffee maker. Key improvements have been made to the design: no longer problems with over-pour with the carafe (redesigned), color of printing on controls improved for easier readability, and overall shape of the unit has been slightly refined. While using our first version of this coffee maker, we did notice the flaws that have been corrected (and a couple of others) in this new design - we feel this coffee maker is be best value and provides the most features for the cost. My wife and I have been through a lot of coffee makers in the past several years and we just couldn't find one we liked better, i.e. under $200.00. I'll rate it as a 4.5 - because I'd like to encourage the Mr. Coffee engineers to keep working improvements into their great design. "if you want to replace in 8 months, then buy it, otherwise, SAVE YOUR MONEY!", I am so disappointed in this product. This is the 3rd one I have been thru. I won't make the mistake of getting this same coffee pot again though! I won't even buy a Mr. Coffee again in the future! Reason I replaced with same make/model is because I had a spare pot on hand from the first time I broke one accidentally and had a hard time finding them. The first one lasted about 1 year. 2nd one broke within the warranty and this one lasted even less at 8 months! Good thing I keep a spare on hand! I need my AM Coffee :-) My grandmother even rec'd the same pot as a gift and hers leaks in the bottom of it. Bottom line, poor quality for your money! Spend a little more and get something that will LAST! "Took 4 years", i bought this coffee maker 4 years ago. it just now got tired and is having difficulties brewing a pot. so i am here today to get another one just like it. i have never had such good luck with a pot as i have had with this one. "Mmm, yummy mildew.", Naturally I bought it because it's red and matches my Oster red toaster (I gather a lot of people buy this Mr. Coffee because of the red Oster toaster), but honestly it's the worst coffeemaker I've ever owned. I read sketchy reviews before I bought it even, and decided to give it a chance because it's shiny and pretty, but this is what I get for being a magpie. It'll work fine for a few months, makes excellent coffee even, but unless you completely, absolutely dry every drop of moisture off of the carafe every single time you make coffee and every time you wash the carafe out (who does that?), the warming plate rusts and its coating starts coming off in giant flakes. Plus, even with regular cleaning this thing mildews like you would not believe, even though I bought it in Dallas and now live in Chicago, both very dry climates. I worked in coffee shops for years and years and I know how to clean coffee makers with vinegar and all that, and this thing cannot. be. cleaned. Tried to stick with it, because it's red, but eventually I started walking into the kitchen and catching a whiff of something mildewing, and it was the coffeemaker, despite the fact that I was throwing out the used filter with wet grounds and cleaning out the carafe after each use and following manufacturer directions for maintenance. Especially if you let it dry out for a couple of days and then lift the lid and stick your nose in there, oh, it's very bad indeed. I'm scared that I even drank coffee from this model before realizing it was alive inside. I'm still really sad to throw it out and hope they fix the problems with this one someday so I can get a new one. The other red coffeemakers on the market are that flat candy-apple color, so I'm back with a very blah white Mr. Coffee. Boring, but not breeding new life forms like the red one was. "Uses half the amount of coffee so it pays for itself!", I am on a quest to make the perfect cup of coffee. I drink so much coffee, but for some reason, my pots of coffee used to turn out horrible. My husband's pots of coffee, though, were great. We use Starbucks beans regularly, I'd clean the pot, and use filtered water. I've never figured out what I was doing wrong. It got to the point where I bought a Senseo but wound up giving it away because their coffee is awful. I bought a one-cup coffeemaker (that I've also reviewed) and had luck with that. Our regular coffeemaker finally died. It was a Cuisinart that made a great pot of coffee when my husband used it. We had visited my parents who had this Mr. Coffee coffee maker and it seemed to work well, but we weren't planning to buy a Mr. Coffee. However, when we went to Tuesday Morning to see what they had, they coincidentally had this. So, although I was a little reluctant, we bought it based on price. I'm AMAZED at the quality of this coffeemaker and I'm shocked at the mediocre reviews here. If our coffeemaker only lasts a year, I'll be happy. I haven't used a basket filter coffee maker in years. . . probably 15 years or so. But, this uses a basket filter rather than a cone. And, we use 1/2 the amount of coffee we've used in the cone coffeemakers. For every cup of coffee we made in other coffeemakers, we used 2 coffee scoops of coffee. Now, we only have to use 1 coffee scoop of coffee. We drink so much coffee-- me, especially-- that we've already saved enough where this coffemaker has paid for itself. The coffee is consistently hot. It's consistently strong. It's just a great coffeemaker all around. You can decide if you want your coffee regular or extra strong. We use the strong setting and are always pleased. After my coffee was sitting around on the warming plate for a while in all my old coffeemakers, it tasted stale and burnt. I thought that was just the standard and coffee had to be brewed again. The truth is, though, I can drink the coffee that's been sitting on the warming plate with this coffeemaker and it tastes fresh. So, maybe the warming plate is a better temperature. I'm thrilled with this purchase and would be happy with it even if it lasted only a year. I brew several pots per day and would definitely feel as if I've gotten my money's worth. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Fine for about a year, then watch out...", We've had this coffee maker for about two years now and we need a new one (NOT this one). It was okay for maybe the first year. Now the "seam" where the red metal and black plastic meet has leaked and rusted the metal. Even with cleaning, the coffee maker brews slowly and inconsistently (i.e. put in 12 cups, get 10 cups of usually burnt coffee). Our $20 dollar cheapo coffee maker we had before this thing lasted three times as long. It's pretty and nice at first, but a waste of money in the long run. "Average coffeemaker", We bought this coffeemaker about 3 years ago from Target and paid $50 for it. The product looks good though the front clock display is wholesomely bright. For the price, it has the standard special features. Twice it has come back from dead, Lazarus-like, but the biggest plus is that it still works (though not perfectly) after 3 years of use. You could use it without a filter, which maybe attractive for some, but I insist on using coffee filters (ecologically better than having to wash the basket every time) and it's no plus for me. It beeps rather loudly and a great many times, but some like that. There are some serious issues with this coffeemaker. One, it leaks on a regular basis, and that has nothing to do with the coarseness of coffee I use. This has not had any serious problems for us because we have granite countertops and all we have to do is wipe the surface with a wet rag. This appliance might stain some surfaces permanently, so beware. Secondly, the coffee is brewed rather slowly and the warming plate is too hot (even using the coolest setting) which spoils the taste after 30 minutes. My opinion that there are better coffeemakers for this price range out there. We had a cheap $20 coffeemaker when I was in graduate school and that lasted five years and had no less functionality than this Mr Coffee product that I used or needed. Sure, it looks good, but the coffee is average, and it leaks. "I expected better from Mr. Coffee", We received this coffeemaker as a gift. It looks great on the counter, but has serious design problems. The decanter for one. I have never been able to pour a cup of coffee without it dribbling everywhere! When I hand wash the decanter, if I try to put my hand inside to clean it, my hand barely fits (I am a woman with average size hands), and when I attempt to remove my hand, it gets scratched by the plastic around the opening. I would not recommend this to anyone. I do like the look, but that is all. "short life span", Great coffee maker--however, ours only lasted a little over two years of daily use before it started to leak and the burner plate got a little on the melted side.... "Goelb", I LOVE this coffee pot and do not understand the bad reviews. I like how it looks in my kitchen, although, the green light is pretty bright on the front. It is easy to clean and there is even a cycle for cleaning. The caraf does not drip at all when pouring and it is the first machine I have had that really lets you get a cup before the brewing is done without some dripping onto the hot plate. The design for the "stop and pour" is great. My last one just had a spring type that hung down and it was so hard shoving the pot under it. This one is encased so you do not have that problem at all. The heating plate keeps the coffee nice and warm although I usually put it in a pump pot to take to my office. I personally like the timer and beeper that lets me know when it is done. So far I am extremely happy with this coffee maker and I like how my coffee tastes too. It's hard to say what is "good" coffee since everyone likes it at different strengths. I read the directions when I bought it and have never had any problems with overflow of coffee grounds. The book does say not to overfill the water so maybe that was the problem with some peoples machines. The only down side is that it is a bit slow brewing but so was my old coffee maker. I now set it to brew by setting the timer in the morning so do not have to stand there and see how long it takes. I would buy this machine again. ![]() |
