"Better Than Expected" Excellent quality and performs better than expected. Easy to load and adjusting grinding from course to fine is a snap. Shipment arrived as promised. "Great" Great when you are stirring with the other hand or if your other hand is messy and you would have to clean your hands before working a peppermill. "nice" this product looks great feels great and works great. but it uses 6 six AAA batteries. the window where you can see the pepper and salt, well that how much it can hold. less then 1/4 of the unit is dedicated to storing saltandpepper. 4 stars if you have money to spend on it 3 stars if you have to think bout spending this much on it 2 stars if you'll need to hide the price from your spouse. "Great Mills, Some Annoyances" For their primary function, grinding pepper and salt, they're great! Super fast, quiet, very nice, even grind. I'm no expert, but it's hard to imagine how any grinder could be any better. Still, there are a few annoyances: 1) They take 6 AAA batteries each! That's 12 batteries total. So add another $8-10 to the cost, and an additional $4-5 each every time the batteries run down. Hopefully that won't be too often, but still.... 2) They're very large and heavy for the volume of salt/pepper they hold. What you see in the window is it. I guess that's not a big deal, but it just seems slightly deceptive. 3) The light is simply annoying. These things grind very quickly. If I hold the button down long enough for my eyes to become accustomed to the light, I end up with 4 times as much pepper as I can stand. These are so quick I prefer to hit 'em in short bursts, which means I end up with short flashes that actually make it harder to see what I'm getting. I wish the light had a switch I could flip to disable it. I may end up just snipping the wires. All that notwithstanding, at the Amazon price I got the pair of them for, I'd definitely buy them again. They do grind great! "All the capacity is for batteries -" I was hoping the image was wrong and that the clear area where the pepper and salt shows was not the only capacity for these devices. Also, was looking forward to one-handed use while cooking, instead of using my two excellent sets of William Bounds hand-grinding salt & pepper mills. Sad to say, all the capacity is for the 6 required AA batteries, and the way we go through sea salt and pepper here, I'd be filling these once a week at least. Sending these back with nothing to lose but the return shipping.

What our customer's say! "almost perfect", I used a pair of these battery operated salt/pepper mills at a freinds house and HAD to have a pair of my own. They are not cheap (innexpensive) as far as salt and pepper shakers go ... but SO WORTH IT. The only problem I have with these that I bought on Amazon is, within the first 3 weeks, the light in the salt mill stopped working. No biggie, never really thought the light was necessary (we eat with the lights on). I guess I don't mind, as long as the grinder still works I'm good. "Love it!", I bought this for my husband for Valentines day and we love it! The only downside is sometimes the button sticks and salt continues to come out even when you're not pressing it! But all in all I highly recommend this set. "Does it come with bottom lids again?", I only have the pepper mill, but my wife would not miss it anymore! We think these gadgets are really great. However, we bought our pepper mill when it still came with a bottom lid. We feel this is a mandatory part. It happens quite often that one inadvertently touches the top button when taking the mill out of the cupboard or putting it back in. Of course, it starts to grind instantly. So what happens when there is no lid at the bottom: you have that pepper or salt on your floor or wherever. Quite an annoying prospect indeed. I'd rather pay an extra dollar or so to have those lids included again. (This is assuming they are still missing as some reviews on the pepper mill offer indicate.) There is certainly no problem that the batteries are no longer included. These are readily available everywhere, whereas you'd have a hard time finding a lid that fits. These things are a bit top-heavy (because of the batteries) so they tend to tumble if you hit them a bit. But that is only a minor problem. "everybody loves but be careful when you order, check if is available and not "in-stock soon"", if you want something to put on the table, this is a great option. It's elegant and easy to use. But a little fragile, you need to carefully remove the parts to put addicional salt/pepper. People that want to use for cooking (not only serving) and cooks a lot I recommend think twice to buy this product because the container for the salt/pepper are very smal and it uses a lot of batteries. This is good for serving and impress all your guests. Delivery was good and fast. But never order this product if it's says "in-stock soon", I ordered a second one because I want to give as a gift, and keep waiting for a month and the order was canceled by them. "nice looking", nice set but takes 12 batteries per set.. Does not hold much salt or pepper.. the clear part is all the capacity there is.I refill them often.. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "arrival damage", Like them a lot, easy to use (i am handicapped). The salt unit arrived with a chip on the plastic base under the top cover chipped. At this point it dosent't affect operation. Don't know if it will be a problem in the future. Ed Crosby "great product", I liked the pepper& salt mill so much I will buy several more for gifts. "Great Salt and Pepper Mill!", After going on a the new cruise ship Freedom of the Seas and seeing the chef with one of these pepper mills....I had to purchase one. After reviewing the other products, I decided this would be the best one to get. I decided to go ahead and get the salt mill also. I have been very happy with both of these items and do not know what I would do without them now. I only use sea salt in the salt mill because it has the most health benifits. Regular table salt is not good for the body. We have been using alot more pepper because it comes out so easily and we do not have to wear our wrists out and still not get enough....I get enough wrist workout typing at the computer. I get the mixed black, white and green pepper corns. Our meals are much tastier and the health benefits of using more pepper are worth the purchase. "Wonderful item, and unique gift", My family has enjoyed the MIU France stainless-steel battery-operated salt and pepper mill set. I have given several sets for wedding gifts. You have fresh pepper fast and easy, and just enough salt. The set takes several batteries, but they last a long time. |
