Others say...

"JUNK!"
This coffee pot leaks water all over the counter. The coffee grinds back up into the water area requiring extra effort to clean.

"BD Coffee Maker"
This item was a Christmas gift to my daughter and her fiance. Their comments were quite favorable as to the coffee produced and the over all ease of use of the machine.

"Black and Decker 4 cup"
This product is just fine, takes little space and just what I wanted for my kitchen. It came with a gold mesh filter, however, this continues to drip and I think paper filters are better in the long run. It is noisy when it brews for a few minutes but that seems a small factor. The primary reason for this purchase was to have a small size product, presumably more energy efficient than a large brewer. I have not used the program feature since I like to grind my beans before brewing.

"Messy - sorry it doesn't have "pause and serve" feature"
I chose this coffeemaker primarily because I liked the size, the way it looks & the automatic shut-off feature. I'm satisfied with the coffee it makes - it is hot enough for me & the warming plate keeps it hot. Since I usually only have one large mug of coffee in the morning, I didn't think I would miss the "pause & serve" feature. However, when I take out the carafe to pour the coffee, a small amount of coffee almost always leaks down onto the warming plate. I now try to remember to remove the brew basket before I pour my coffee but since that usually drips a lot, I have to grab a plate to put it on so it doesn't drip all over my counter on the way to the sink. (I think coffee makers without the "pause and serve" feature that have a cone shaped brew basket might not be quite as messy as this one with a flat bottomed brew basket.) As mentioned by previous reviewers, the carafe will spill coffee unless you pour slowly & carefully. In order to get 2 cups of coffee in the carafe, I need to fill the coffeemaker to the 2 1/2 cup line - which isn't a big deal. I will probably replace this coffeemaker with another one within the next few months.

"Pretty good little coffee pot"
This small footprint coffee pot is just the thing for someone that needs a cup or two in the morning to get started.

Makes about 20 ozs. of coffee when the reservoir is filled. Some water gets lost in the brewing process. I get about 4 1/2 cups when I fill the water reservoir to the 5 cup mark.

Dribbles. I wound up putting my coffee cup in the sink, then pouring the coffee. Easier to clean up the spilled coffee.

Takes about 10 minutes to brew a pot and the coffee tasts good!.

What our customer's say!

"For what it is, and for the $$, it's great!", I've been using this little coffee maker for 8 months now with no problems at all. I can set it up at night, and wake up to fresh hot coffee. It's reliable and easy to use -- nothing fancy, no special bells and whistles -- just a good simple coffee maker. It makes five 5-oz cups (but who drinks coffee in a 5-oz cup??). Think of it as brewing two 12-oz mugs instead.

The trick to pouring without spills is to raise the lid. There's a little thumb rest on the handle that raises the lid; raise the lid, and you can pour fast or slow without spilling a drop.

Mine has never overflowed while brewing. I use the carafe to fill the water reservoir, and fill exactly to the "water" line. I suspect that if you overfill the reservoir, it will probably overflow.

My ONLY complaint, not restricted to this particular model, is the filter basket design. It has a slightly raised lip (about 1/8") around the bottom of the basket that holds a little water in the bottom. When you remove the basket to empty the grounds, you're likely to spill some of this if you're not especially careful. I just make sure I'm close to the sink; empty the excess water there, then empty the grounds in the trash. Not a HUGE deal, but it can be a little messy.

All told, however, this is a good little coffee maker for the price: nothing fancy, easy to use, reliable.

"Perfect size", This is the perfect size for a household with one coffee drinker. Love the automatic shutoff.

"I like the size!", The coffee maker is your regular automatic drip coffee maker. I just wanted something a little bigger that the 4 cup especially when you have an a friend over. The 4 cup just wasn't enough for 2 big cups of coffee and this 5 cup is just perfect. I don't know what size cups they think of when they create the machines but 4 cups is never 4 cups! it's less.
This one works for me.

"Tried others", Use it every day, all day. First one I owned lasted about five years. Keeps coffee hot without changing taste.

"Black & Decker 5 Cup coffeemaker", Great little machine. The only negative is that the gold-tone reusable filter allows some preground coffee though resulting in slug at the bottom of the pot. While I like the size etc., I've taken to using small paper filters instead of the reusable one which is a shame because it was the reusable filter that appealled.

"hold over the sink!", description and product reliably match except for one thing; I challenge the manufacturer to pour from the carafe without spilling coffee which I understand is the claim--otherwise a simple machine, small and easy to use which is what I wanted

"Makes coffee.", An excellent machine. Makes good coffee. The clock and timer settings are simple. Comes with that permanent filter that lets just enough goop through to enrich the brew. Perfect.

"Great coffee maker", We are very pleased with the timer feature, our coffee is ready in the morning for us.Setting the timer the night before surely saves time in the morning.

"Great Little coffee Maker!", Wow! What an easy to use coffee maker. It is very easy to program. Just what a one coffee-drinking memebr household needs.

"Coffee Aroma...the best Alarm Clock", Except for having to hold the carafe steady to avoid it dripping while you pour, this is the best small capacity programmable coffee maker for me.
And it comes in white which the others do not. Mr Coffee's 4-cup programmable only comes in black. The other manufacturers do not make a programmable coffee maker with less than a 10-Cup capacity. The only aroma therapy I need is the smell of fresh brewed coffee. Thanks Black & Decker.
