Others say...

"Good coffee."
This is a great coffee-maker.I would have rated it 5 stars had it not been made in China. No where in the description did I see country of origin; Zojirushi has always been a Japanese product. However, I do have to say it makes a good cup of coffee.

"coffeemaker"
my second purchase of the 5 cup coffee maker by Zojirushi. Excellent and very easy to use. Good quality coffee.

"excellent small coffee brewer"
Finding a smaller coffee brewer (under 12 cup) is difficult these days. They used to be fairly common from Braun, Krups, etc. When our 10-year old Krups finally stopped working, we were delighted to see the 5-cup model from Zojirushi. While more expensive than previous models, it makes excellent coffee. The product is very well made and the removeable water container is a definite improvement. The design of the carafe, filter holder, etc. is very good. Other reviewers have commented on the heat of the coffee - I have no complaints - it brews very good, hot coffee. We make three to four pots a day and all are excellent, given good coffee to begin with. Highly recommended!

"good coffeepot"
this product makes a good tasting cup of hot coffee. somewhat different from others. i like it better all the time

"Just What I Wanted"
I was looking for a compact coffeemaker for my office which would look good and make great coffee. I also wanted a removable water reservoir....the most accessible sink for me is quite small and shallow, and most coffee carafes wouldn't fit under the tap. So I actually googled "coffee maker - removable water tank" and I was ecstatic to have found this. I am still just as excited now that I've been using it for a few weeks. It's easy to use, a breeze to clean, and the coffee is good and strong. And it really is nice to look at.

What our customer's say!

"carcinogenic plastic in this coffee maker", The water tank on the EC-DAC50 Zutto Coffee Maker is made with a Polystyrene plastic, which is carcinogenic.

"Makes less coffee than expected", I like the coffee maker so I won't repeat all the good things said in the other reviews. My only negative is that for a 5 cup coffee maker it actually makes less coffee than my old 4 cup Krups. The Krups didn't quite fill my thermos; I assumed the Zojirushi would, but I'm now drinking somewhat less coffee than before.

"nice little machine", It makes good hot coffee, and it's stylish and small. It's great for brewing coffee for one or two people. It's a bit hard to get the hang of pouring so that the lid doesn't fall off, but it just takes a bit of practice.

"Meeting all my criteria", I think coffee flavor is altered negatively in stainless steel and don't understand the current trend towards steel carafes, so I was looking for a glass carafe. The removeable water reservoir is very convenient, although I did have to change my old habit of locating the coffee maker under the cabinets to a more open spot so that I would not have to move the unit in order to fill the reservoir, as the unit has rubber feet that prevent it from sliding easily. The coffee tastes great and is plenty hot even after I add milk.
I did run many, many batches of plain water through when it was new before the plastic odor was removed.

"Not Impressed! Be Careful!", To be fair, I didn't even try to make coffee in this maker, so I am not saying it makes poor quality coffee. I've only had it out of the box for about 1/2 hour, and it's going back.

Some warnings before you purchase:
- NO AUTO SHUT OFF. For the price that should be a basic safty function.
- The "Auto Keep-warm" option just means the warming plate stays on till you turn it off... which they don't recommend leaving on for more than 15 mins.
- The plastic lid will fall off unless you keep your thumb firmly on it when you pour.
- Don't be mislead by the large coffee pot. It only fills up about half way.

"Very tidy coffeemaker", I've had my Zojirushi for about two years now. The experience continues to be a pleasure.

For good coffee, clean surfaces matter a lot. Nothing hurts coffee flavor more than stale oils. Mildewey reservoir surfaces don't help either. For ease of keeping these surfaces clean, this little Zojirushi wins hands down. Nothing else comes even close.

(1) The "splash guard" (just above where hot water hits the ground coffee) is easy to remove and clean with running water. With other coffeemakers, one would need to hold the whole appliance upside-down under the tap. :O
(2) The water reservior and cover are both easily removed for inspection, cleaning and complete drying.
(3) The carafe's inner surfaces are easy to see, reach, clean and rinse. (Same as all coffeemakers with Pyrex-type carafes.)

This machine's other notable feature is the water filter (which can remove undesired flavors from the water just after heating.) I tried my Zojirushi with and without the filter and didn't notice much difference. But the tap water in my town is actually very good, so this doesn't amount to much of a test. I can imagine it helping with, for example, the water where I used to live.

Other aspects of this coffeemaker are good but not unique. The water temperature in mine is about right. (It extracts the right stuff from the ground coffee.) The hot plate is good for warming the carafe during coffeemaking but should then should be turned off to avoid thermal mishandling of the coffee. (Nothing particular to the Zojirushi here, just a good practice.)

"quite good but...", It's quite good, but I wish there was the automatic shut-off button. But I knew it wasn't there when I purchased the product. The real problem is that sometimes the coffee grinds get inside the coffee.
Overall I would say that the coffee comes out hot and has good taste. It's the best coffeemaker I have had so far.

"Hot Coffee - Works Fine - Requires Paper Filters", Works fine, doesn't drip, heats coffee enough that it would burn if I drank it right away.

Requires filters, though, which wasn't clear from the description. Paper filters work... a "gold filter" (#2) will NOT fit.

"Perfect size coffee pot", I have very limited counter space in my kitchen. My husband is the only
one who drinks coffee so this was a perfect small coffee pot choice for
us. He says it makes a really good cup of coffee.

"outstanding !!!!", only one thing to say..... finally, after 30 years in this country, the best coffee machine ever !!!!!
