"Leaky Pot" As others said, the carafe leaked. The manufacturer said to return it for a replacement. I didn't want to gamble again, so it was returned for credit. I bought a Braun which is much nicer. "Hamilton Beach 43253 Red 12-Cup Coffeemaker" I like this coffee-maker very much. As compared to my previous Krups, it makes hotter and faster coffee; however, at lower volumes, the coffee is a little weak, requiring more coffee grounds. The cheap price of the coffeemaker gets lost with having to use more coffee. Follow the water marks carefully. They are generous. The red color is wonderful. I'm a little bummed in that I purchased my machine from Amazon on May 16 at $49.32. Today is May 26, and the price is down to $35.99. This huge price differential would not happen in a typical home and bath store! I'm not sure I'd go through Amazon again. Get this while you can!!! On balance it's a nice easy to use coffee maker. "Disappointed" Loved the look of the coffeemaker, but was hard to fill and when we both poured our coffee more was on counter top than in the cup. We returned with of course no problems with Amazon. "One weak link" It seems that every product has one weak link, and in the case of this coffee maker it is the way the lid is attached to the carafe. Even with gentle handling, one of the little plastic prongs broke which means the lid will no longer stay on. I have never had this problem with other coffee makers, and I have been making coffee for over 50 years. "so far so good..." I am giving 4 stars only because I am not using it personally. It was a gift to an organization. I asked them to let me know of any problems and so far I haven't heard, so it is good. The machine itself is really cute in red, I found it a little too big in size for my taste but cute nevertheless. Looked like the water reservoir could easily be accessed which is an important feature.

"Dependable Coffeemaker", I like the "feel" of this coffeemaker when I pour coffee or fill it with water. It feels substantial and doesn't leak like other reviewers have said. Some have complained that it is too high so I measured it. It's about 13-1/2 inches high. You need space for at least 14" or more. I love the RED and it matches other appliances like our can opener. So far, it's a hit. No more Mr. Coffee. Thanks to the other reviewers who warned against buying Mr. Coffee since they break soon after purchasing. No complaints about the Hamilton Beach coffee maker. Thanks to other reviewers who said it was a good one! "Good enough--don't get attached to it", I've owned this unit for about 6 weeks. Last week it started making horrendous noises as it's brewing. I've checked for clogs, I've run 12 c. of plain water through it. I can't figure it out. Unfortunately, I threw the box away so I'm stuck with it. I don't expect it to last long--with all the noise it making--it's bound to fail sooner than later. Other than that; it's pretty, it's not expensive. It hasn't leaked. It is tall, you do have to be careful pouring the water into the reservoir or it will pour out the bottom. The small paper basket filters--well, be careful pouring in the ground coffee or you'll be cleaning grounds up from everywhere. Still searching for the ultimate (but not exorbitant) coffee pot. "This is the ONE!!!", I love this coffee maker !!! The coffee comes out real hot. The price was awesome for how it has performed !! I didn't have to pay that high price for an excellent product. Read this reviews before You buy... "Best Ever", We've been brewing coffee every morning over the past month with this Hamilton Beach 43253. Our experiments with it have paid off. Brewing from two cups at one time, all the way up to twelve cups, while varying the amount of ground coffee, this coffee maker made the best coffee every time for us. It's the best coffeemaker we've ever owned over the past thirty (30) years. And...it's modern attractive, aerodynamic and easy to clean. Thank you Hamilton Beach. "Good value ", I love the color! It is really a basic coffee pot (the clock does not even light up) but after looking for one, unsuccessfully, at the local retail stores, I was glad to find one online for the price. "Cheap garbage/poor planning/bad coffee", I always buy cheap coffee makers b/c they break no matter how much they cost but this is the worst and it's not broken. My cord is about 6 inches long requiring a 3-prong extenstion cord just to get the the basic plug right behind it on the wall. It collects so much moisture on the inside of the lid to the coffee chamber that everytime I open it I get a shower of water all over. The water chamber opening, although the funnel type should work beautifully, the hole is too small so you have to pour the water very slowly or it pours thru to where the coffee pot would be-if I wasn't pouring the water-makes a mess of a puddle...and the coffee is bitter. Same coffee I've used for 10 years in other makers but I can't get the right ratio to water to make it not bitter. I usually double the grounds b/c I drink it strong but no matter how little, it's bitter. "Hamilton Beach Red Coffeemaker", I read the stellar reviews on this product before I bought it. Unfortunately, I have a couple of negatives...the coffeemaker is too high to easily fit under my cupboard and use, so I have to pull it out and turn it sideways in order to pour in the water. Even though it brews coffee in lick-split time, the coffee strength is not as strong as my previous coffeemaker. I'm afraid that the water may be going through the grounds too fast. I'm using much more coffee than I did before. "Hamilton Beach Coffeemaker", This is a great coffeemaker. The coffee tastes great, it is easy to use and clean and I find no problems with it whatsoever. I would highly recommend this product. |
