"Corelle Dinnerware - Square Pure White" My daughter-in-law and her active boys love this dinnerware for its simple beauty and its durability. She wanted something light weight that the boys could handle doing kitchen chores, without sacrificing an attractive table setting. This fit the bill. Also, since the plates are fairly thin, she can easily stack place settings for 12 in a minimum of cabinet space. "Corelle is wonderful" Years ago I used to have Corelle dishes and marveled at the durability. I finally just got tired of the pattern and, not liking what Corelle was making at the time, moved on to other manufacturers. A 6.9 earthquake destroyed most of my current dishware, and a year later I am coming back to Corelle. Square plates!! I love this set of Pure White. I like to change the look of my table, so I have mix/matched them with a full set of Corelle's Bamboo Leaf square dishes (another winner), and with the odds and ends of my other dish patterns. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the mugs were not the same material as the dishes and were made of porcelain. "Very bad experience" I ordered 1 set that had 1 plate broken and the replacement also came broken. "Corelle Square Round Dishes" I like the dishes because they're made in America, so I don't have to worry about getting lead in my food. They are large and pristine in appearance and very hardy. However, I was stricken to see that the mugs are made in China. My husband refuses to drink out of them. I don't see why Corelle can't make these mugs the same way as the dishes. Is that too much to ask??? "Shipping problems" Unfortunately, I received my order in an extremely crushed box that was clearly not marked "fragile, handle with care, etc." It was just marked heavy. When I opened the shipping box, I found the Corelle box crushed on one side, looking like an accordian. This was a shower gift, so I was extremely upset. By some miracle, not one piece of Corelle was chipped or broken and I was short on time, so I had to find another box to re-wrap all of the pieces and give the gift in another box, advising the bride to be that, "I didn't buy the set at a yardsale". I really can't say that I would purchase anything from Amazon again that is breakable or fragile because between Amazon's negligence in not marking the shipping box appropriately and UPS's horrible negligence in kicking around the box prior to delivery.

What our customer's say! "Great set of dishes/fits in dishwasher/space savings", When we moved I gave up a great set of white (heavier) dinnerware that I loved/bought at Williams Sonoma. When we got to our new home I wanted dishware that was still white (as food looks appealing on white) -- and durable but lighter (stoneware is too heavy). This Corell set is very modern (square plates) - light but strong. Food looks great served on it - and it fits in the dishwasher. Since we live in a desert environoment - water is a factor. You can fit alot of these dishes in the dishwasher - plus for storing, they do not take up much space. I love this set so much - I bought one for our grown up kid who just moved to a new apt. and they all love the set too. This is a great dinnerware set - the plates are nice looking on a table - yet strong and can take even being dropped. We love them. "Best dinnerware not only for special days but for everyday!", This dinnerware set is light enough to put in and out of the dishwasher. The square dishes fit very well in the kitchen cabinet, thus saving much needed space. On the table, it is simple and elegant enough even with dinner guests. I am very pleased with this set and I intend to get another set soon. "Corelle dinnerware", Product is great. Packing inadequate in box with only 1 strip of bubble wrap around edges. Plates were broken and had to be returned. "Nice Style, but not that great of a dish", I really like the style of these dishes and that is it. I haven't had the dishes for two months and I am already looking for new dishes. The dishes stick together when their placed on top of each other and stain really easily. I just feel like their not a high quality. I read other peoples reviews and thought I would be getting a good set of dishes and now I wish I could return them. "look good, feels cheap", the set looks great and even better with food on it. for some reason the square plate with food just looks better to me... that being said, they feel as cheap as they are and the rim on the bowls is a little much 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Selling for $49.95 at our local Walmart", These are a nice size and the shape is also nice--has a smaller footprint than the round plates if you are cramped for cupboard space. They are made of the traditional thin Corelle material and are a more "shallow" plate--like the traditional Corelle plain white dishes. If you like the square shape and want a Corelle set that is a little fancier in solid white that will dress up for formal occasions, you may want to consider the award winning Corelle Scandia White in Corelle's Ultra line. The Scandia White pattern has a fancier mold and the plates are a little deeper and thicker than this set. The major difference in the Ultra line and this set is the Ultras are 70% thicker than the traditional Corelle and have three layers of "glass" on the finish instead of the one layer on this set--The Ultras have a glossier finish--elegant--and a little more weight. You can gather more info on the Ultra line at corelle.com These are nice, but for the same price at Walmart, you can have the square Ultras. I spoke with a Corelle rep on the phone and asked her about the difference between this set and the Scandia White set. She said she owns BOTH sets, but is planning to give her set like this away and only keep the new Scandia White set. The local Walmart did not carry the Scandia White Ultra, but carries several other Ultra square patterns. They also do not identify them as Ultra, but they are Ultra. Corelle has introduced serving pieces in the past month in the Corelle material that match this set. The matching pieces for the Scandia White pattern are made of stoneware. This set will give YEARS of service and may be preferable for someone looking for lighter weight dinnerware. The lighter weight may be easier for children and elderly hands to carry and handle. This is a GREAT everyday pattern. "poor shipping", Love the product but the shipping method stunk! We received 2 packages that were fine and 2 that were completely damaged. Although they are working on resolving the matter, they should ship the items using a better method! "Beautiful, elegant & practical", I really like the look of these square dishes. Switching from stoneware to Corelle was a good decision. They take up much less space in my kitchen and it's easier to carry a whole stack of them with my arthritic hands. Because of their smaller size, we use the lunch plates more often than the dinner plates. But we miss having the smaller bread & butter plates, so I ordered some plain white round 6 3/4 inch plates. Disappointed that we couldn't get small square plates, but the round ones will be OK. The 22 oz. bowls are larger than most. The slight lip on the rim helps to remove them from the microwave without getting burned. Corelle doesn't heat up like stoneware. Also disappointed that the mugs are NOT Corelle glass, but porcelain. They feel nice in your hand but could tip easier than most mugs. Overall I really like these dishes and would buy them again! |
