Others say...
"convenient!" I bought 3 of these...one for myself, my husband and my teenage daughter who is a loose tea fanatic. We love them!!!! No more bewing pots of coffee for us! I can make my cup as strong or as weak as I like and not have to worry about how my husband wants his. I highly recommend "Returned same day received" Just awful -- I use a tea press and coffee press both by Bodum and I love them. This doesn't work for loose leaf tea or coffee -- doesn't trap them -- would not use it if someone gave it too me :( I can imagine how anyone got this to work to their satisfaction --- "Filter does not work at all" As the happy owner of two other Bodum coffee presses, I expected an effective product. The most important function of a coffee press is to separate the grounds from the drink. This coffee press completely failed in that function. Both on medium grind coffee grounds and loose Chinese tea, the press allowed a significant amount of material to pass. For example, 1 mm thick tea branches floated up past the silicone sides. The basic problem is poor design: despite good quality plastics and metal stem, the silicone border is not rigid enough and not large enough to grip the cylinder wall. I do NOT see any material defects in the cup -- it just works poorly. However, the top lid is quite sturdy and comfortable. Useful as an overpriced hot drink mug for cocoa or milk. "Yeah...." OK. It is exactly what it looks like. A little gimmicky if you ask me. But whatever. It's a portable French press pot. It works. "Great product" I love this thing. The only problem I have is that I like red tea and it tends to have very small pieces which make it past the press. (the reason for 4 stars) Even then, it still is pretty effective and I use it all the time.

What our customer's say! "Bad for a Bodum, doesn't filter the grounds", Used Bodum's for years and love them, they are usually the best, this is like a cheap knock-off. I broke my glass 12-oz press, this looked like it would be a good replacement, but it's poorly made. Bodum replaced their usual 3-piece screen filter system in this press with a 1-piece plastic-frame filter with a silicone "seal" around it, coffee grounds slip right past it. It's junk. I would not buy this again. "Waste of money", I use a regular Bodum press at home every morning to make my coffee and would use nothing else. I bought this to travel with and take on a camping trip so I could have real coffee. They way it is made, it only has a little rubber gasket around the edge of the plunger, and no matter how slowly you push the press, most of the grounds get by and into the coffee. Also, there is no screen at the top to strain out the grounds, so unless you like eating coffee grounds with your breakfast, I would steer clear of this product. "Great idea, until it broke.", I purchased this exactly a year ago and have used it on a few trips. I was on a cross-country trip last week and used the unit for about the tenth time. It broke. As I pushed the plunger down I heard a crack. I now have coffee in between the inner and outer shells of the mug. Sadly, I will throw this away and purchase a better-quality unit for my travels. Nothing is better than having a good cuppa while on the road, and nothing was worse than that crack I heard, making this unit useless. I have two Bodum glass presses at home that I use several times a day; they continue to perform yeoman service. "Bodum should be ashamed..", I've used Bodum French press pots for years. When I saw this, I thought it would be the perfect camping alternative to a barely functional stovetop percolator that we use. Wrong! The cup part is excellent, holding liquids hot for a long period without burning your hand. BUT, the filter mechanism is terrible. Even a child would see that the silicon ring that is supposed to keep the grounds below the filter would not work. It is far too soft and pliable to do anything at all. The result - no matter how slow you press or how careful you are, this is 'cowboy coffee' - each sip is an unpleasant mouthful of grounds. I'd return this piece of junk in a heartbeat except that I got it on super-saver shipping and the shipping would eat up the value of the return. So, I ordered a $4 Melitta travel coffee maker that hopefully will fit on top of this nice cup! Maybe between the two of them, I can get one decent product. As a longtime Bodum fan, I'd have to advise you NOT to order this item. "georay", not as good insulator as theother one with the rubber around it,but worked as good ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Give up bad coffee forever!", Having never been a coffee snob, a colleague converted me into a French presser. After brewing my first few cups of coffee using the Bodum french press, I can now safely say that my drip and percolating coffee makers are going to charity! With the Bodum press system, you grind the beans yourself (or use ground coffee) and put however much you want into the press, add hot water, wait 4 minutes, press slowly, and enjoy good coffee! Even without the insulating features in the other travel press, this one kept my coffee nice and hot and didn't burn my fingers. My coffee press arrived in perfect condition the day after I received an email from Amazon saying it was shipped. And that was via free SuperSaver shipping! Go Amazon! "Travel french press", I like the look and feel of the cup, it makes great coffee. I have had a little problem with grounds escaping into my drink when the plunger is near the top (the cup seems a little tapered and the plunger doesn't seal as tight at the top as it does at the lower half) I wish the plunger where a bit longer, there is always 2 swallows of coffee that can't be drank. "first timers", I always wanted to try a coffee type press rather than the automatic drip. Thought this would be a good try and inexpensive. I read other reviews of this product some not so favorable, but I wanted to try it. I like it a lot and it's so easy. Follow the directions to the letter and you'll have a wonderful tasting cup of coffee. One thing remember to screw the top on tightly right before you press the plunger slowly. The first time I must not have fully closed the lid as I was pouring the coffee it started to drip from the side. Otherwise wonderful "COFFEE GAL", I HAVE BEEN FRENCH PRESSING FOR YEARS. THIS IS THE BEST LITTLE PRESS MONEY CAN BUY. KEEPS COFFEE HOT AND FLAVORFUL. NO BITTER TASTE.BE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE LID WELL. IT DOES EXPAND WITH THE HEAT OF THE HOT WATER. LOVE IT!!! "$8 discount for getting a stupid logo?", you can buy this plastic press or pay $8 more and get the exact same product with no logo... considering it should cost more to put a logo on a coffee press, what is the actual cost of this product? was this product originally destined for conference swag? nevertheless, you will get a great cup of coffee using this travel press if you follow a few simple rules: 1) use a dark (roasted), coarse ground 2) don't overfill with hot water (leave at least two inches of room) 3) stir the coffee into the hot water 4) let sit for at least two minutes 5) s-l-o-w-l-y press the plunger... i, like others, have noticed a 'popping' or 'cracking' sound when using this press... i suspect it will not last long and will have a broken seal like others have reported here... but until then i will enjoy a good cup of coffee and "Give up bad coffee for good." ![]() |
