"3 separate units all broken" I used the first one for a few months and was happy with the results. Then, the machine started to turn itself on for no apparent reason. One night, it did this and then burned out. After approx. 7 months, Krups sent me a replacement. (Don't believe them when they say the part they need will be in soon). On this second unit, the coffee-maker side did not work at all out of the box. I returned it and received a 3rd unit within a reasonable time, but only after I complained about how long it had taken the first time. The 3rd unit worked for about a month, and then the coffee-maker side stopped working. Krups told me that I had to send it back and wait for them to inspect it to determine whose fault it was that the thing stopped working. They said this would take several weeks and that I just had to wait. I pointed out that it had been a year since I first purchased their product but had only had use of it for a few months. I told them that, in light of the history, I believed I should get a remedy without waiting several more weeks without a decent coffee/expresso maker. I asked that they either send another machine (preferably a different model) or agree to refund my money and let me buy one from somebody else. The rep said he lacked the authority to do this, but that he would have a supervisor contact me within 48 hours. I never heard from them again. I have given up. I paid for a $300 Krups machine, believing that I was investing in a quality company. It seems to me, that I got badly used. I will buy from someone else. "Wish I'd read these reviews first!" I wish I had taken the time to read these reviews as I probably would not have bought this machine. I am experiencing many of the issues outlined in the reviews such as the poor frothing ability and tendency for the wand to fire itself into a jug of hot milk resulting in minor scalding and a huge mess. In addition the whole machine regularly disappears into a cloud of steam after using the espresso function and sometimes the drip side too. The filter gasket for pods leaks steam (thus losing pressure crucial for good espresso shots) no matter how small I cut down the pod. Basically I have been persevering with this item for months now such that I am unlikely to be able to return it. It is fatally flawed. I would give it away but for fear that someone will burn themselves using it! I'm severely disappointed that Krups would manufacture such a poor piece of equipment. I almost never write reviews so please: take heed! Pick a different machine - this one is terrible! "XP2010 Combination Coffee Maker Expresso" Am very satisfied with this product. Makes great coffee and expresso. The frothing is a little weak. You must run the cycle twice to get milk warm enough to froth. Easy cleanup. Makes coffee in about 3 to 4 minutes. "KRUPS XP2010" It's a decent unit for the money but, make sure you check the water on the espresso side and clean/de clog the espresso filter, frequently. "Good Espresso, no froth" I was given this maker as a gift (though I chose it because it was economical), and am disappointed. The frother does not work. I have had boiler type machines that outperformed this one at a third the cost. The steam never builds up enough pressure to properly froth milk for cappucino. The espresso function is good, however, as is the coffee. I think it is probably too late to return the machine, so my friend wasted $200.

What our customer's say! "Coffee side broken", DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE, I AM WITH THE OTHER REVIEWS AND FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE JUST TAKEN $200 AND FLUSHED IT DOWN THE TOILET. I bought this machine about 3 months ago, and it worked fine initially. Made good coffee, and espresso was good, although the steamer worked fairly good. Then it developed a large leak whenever the coffee maker was filled with water. I eventually took the back and bottom off to see if it was a simple fix. Turns out the plastic outlet fitting from the bottom of the water reservoir was all cracked and in pieces. A part of the plastic fitting had worked it's way into the tubing. I am on hold now to see if I can get this repaired under warranty, but honestly, probably be worth buying something else at this point. By the time I pay for shipping this, etc. "Broke after 1 Year", Coffee maker side works well. One gripe is that the carafe design is severely flawed so it's impossible to pour a cup of coffee without spilling everywhere. After 1 year, coffee maker side still works but espresso & frother don't. The pump turns on now and doesn't shut off when we switch on the espresso side and the reservoir that catches drips just fills with water in a matter of seconds and floods the countertop. No espresso or foam can be produced. It's a shame because this machine made an excellent cup of espresso while it worked and we really loved how easy it is to use. The frother was not as powerful as we'd hoped so we had to froth the milk at least twice to get a nice foam for cappuccinos, but in the end they tasted great. My father owns an expensive Gaggia machine and said that the espresso from my Krups actually came out better than his. I just wish it had lasted longer. I'd expected a lot more from a trusted name like Krups and for the price of the machine. "No Repair Parts Available", Sadly, Krups doesn't offer the most basic repair parts for this unit...including the plastic parts that are bound to break. They are also pretty nonresponsive, referring you to vendors that don't have the parts to offer. It works nicely for as long as it works but is quick to become a piece of junk. All they'd have to do is have a reasonable way to order a reasonable variety of repair parts...but, they simply don't. "My experience with this machine has been excellent", I bought this machine with reservation after reading the reviews, but for the money I couldn't find anything comparable. I wanted a sturdy professional looking machine for way less than the $500. and over I am used to seeing for pump driven machines. After living with this machine for a couple of months now, I have to say that my experience has been nothing but positive. The coffee carafe does seem a little fragile, but almost all of them do now for some reason - anyway I'm careful with it. This unit faithfully makes a couple of cups of perfect espresso every morning without any problems whatsoever. I can't see spending more money on another machine and I highly recommend this one. "LOVE IT!", I like this product a lot, it makes good hot espresso quickly and the coffee maker works perfectly. I have not had any quality problems what so ever. You have to read the instruction booklet as the controls are not intuitive to a first time user. After you learn the how to use the machine, it becomes apparent that this is a well designed appliance and a great value for the money. I'm willing to bet that other reviewers let the pump run without water in the tank (which ruins the pump, causing leaks) and aren't preheating the espresso side before making espresso. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "im satisfied so far", Ive purchased this combo machine 2 weeks ago and so far Im satisfied. I have not had any problems with leaking,the frother blowing off,lack of brewed coffee that the other individuals complained about.This is my second KRUPS expresso/coffee machine. The first one was a boiler unit on the expresso. That machine lasted about 15 years...it actually still works but it needed descaling and I wanted a better machine with a pump expresso which produces the crema that i didnt get with my boiler unit. I must admit the frothing was a bit better on the older unit. Im still learning with this new unit and experimenting but I have not had any problems. I cant believe KRUPS would continue to make faulty products....that would be the death of their business. Im hoping I do not have the problems that some of the other individuals had. What sold me was the fact I owned one before and it lasted for many years. My only regret was I did not descale enough otherwise my machine would still be working like new. Believe me i was a little hesitant by reading the bad reviews but their were good reviews as well and i guess as humans we always remember the bad ones. "Quality needs improvement", I got the Krups 2010 as a Christmas gift two weeks ago. the Espresso was easy to make and good taste. The milk froth was also very convenient. But last week after I made an almost perfect cup of cappuccino for my wife, the unit started to behave weird. there was very few water coming down anymore. at the same time, there was quite some steam coming out. More steam came out from the bottom pan when I shut the unit down: behaves like I was finishing up the milk frothing. I cleared the filter (2 cup) thoroughly and even change to another filter (1 cup). the same thing. I unplugged and plugged again (like trying to reboot the window s PC:) ), but no luck. So I have to return it. too bad. otherwise, it was a good machine producing cups of good cappuccino and espresso. "Do Not Buy", The espresso side of this machine is a complete piece of garbage. Steamer has never worked properly. Serious water leakage. And finally after two months of use the espresso maker just stopped working completely. Wish I'd read the other reviews before I bought. Coffee maker works fine but I bought it primarily for the espresso. Debating whether or not to have it serviced or just toss it, leaning towards the latter, as it seems this machine is just fatally flawed to begin with. "SLOW", My main complaint is that the milk frother is sad. It will heat a little, then need to be recharged and heated again. I have to do this three or four times for some lukewarm milk. "Krups XP2010", It took a while to get adept with the espresso and frothing functions. There should be a note in the directions telling the user to turn off the espresso maker when the color of the liquid filling the cups turns light beige. The steamer does not make the milk quite as frothy as I would like. It's very convenient and space-saving to have the coffee and espresso functions in the same machine. The coffee and espresso produced are both excellent. |
