"Great Cooking Accessories" These bowls meet the Pyrex quality standards. They are solid and the lids add a whole new storage dimension to the variety of possible utilities. I bought these for my sister-in-law as a Christmas gift and will likely be purchasing them shortly for my wife. "Great stuff! (IF you use some common sense....)" I'd give this five stars, except for two glitches, each of which costs a half star. The lids are not the old glass lids, which I preferred. And some users (NOT this one) have done silly things like expose the glass dishes to cold temps immediately after heating - the resulting shrapnel is not generally recommended for fun and giggles....Else - it's PYREX. Of course it works! "lids are what make it" We use these bowls almost everyday, and the lids are really what make them. Would have been nice to have a bowl with a bit more depth for baking, but, like i said, we use them everyday. "pyrex bowls" I love these bowls, I am currently replacing my plastic bowls with glass or tempered glass after reading a article that indicated that plastics should not be used for heating food in microwaves. Thanks. "Bowls and Colorful Lids are Great." Bowls and Colorful Lids are Great. Could be a little flatter at the bottom. But have delivered great food, so I can not complain.

What our customer's say! "Bowl Exploded", I received this set for Christmas 2007. I have used them and enjoyed them for 8 months. Yesterday, I heated some soup in the microwave in the smallest bowl. Let it cool and ate some of it. About 10 minutes later I put the lid on the bowl and put it in the refrigerator. The soup and bowl were room temperature. The next morning when we opened the refrigerator, the bowl was in pieces and the soup was all over the shelf. There were no cracks in the bowl before I used it. I have now read hundreds of other people's experiences with the same issue. I will be taking this product back to the store. IT IS UNSAFE. Here is the consumer affairs [...] "Set Useful - Delivery not so good", I had to send the original back to Macy's because it was missing the small bowl lid. I was instructed to send the "whole" set back rather than Macys sending me the lid for the smallest bowl. The second set I received was in a "beat up" mailing box. The contents inside the Pyrex box were VERY dusty and there were mouse droppings in one of the bowls. (VERY gross I must say!!) Not the first time I've had problem with Macy's. All in all the set itself looks nice but the dustyness and mouse droppings makes me wonder if the bowls will every be used. "I love them!!!", I couldn't be happier with my new mixing bowls. I'm not a cook and don't usually get excited about kitchen items, but I'm seriously in love with these bowls. They're just so useful, plus attractive and easy to clean and store at the same time. Not to mention healthy since they're not plastic. WELL worth the $20 I spent. "Mixing bowl set", Pyrex Smart Essentials 8 piece Mixing Bowl Set - got this for my son and his girlfriend - came in excellent shape and in good time. They were well pleased with them - have lids that go along with them and are in 4 different sizes that were just right for them. Recommend highly! "Pyrex Glass Bowls and Covers", Good value, great everyday set to have on hand. The covers come in handy and can be used in the Microwave if reheating for a few minutes. It is possible to do the from the Freezer, to the microwave oven, to the table and vice versa routine. Highly recommended, especially for a new apartment or house. Would make a great gift for someone moving into their first place. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "shatters with hot ingredients", I placed the large bowl, filled with a room temperature milk and cocoa powder mixture, on a burner that had been set on medium heat and turned off 10 minutes earlier. Thirty seconds later the bowl exploded. There were shards of glass (and chocolate milk) everywhere. Avoid this if you plan to use your bowl with warm-to-hot ingredients, and keep children out of the way! "Perfect. Work as described. Excellent quality.", Pyrex doesn't need a review--it's great stuff. Non-pourous so it doesn't soak up tastes and smells that can never be washed out. Tough and beautiful, Pyrex does it all. So the bowls are a no brainer, but why buy these instead of others. The tops of course are the difference. I've found that most Pyrex bowls with tops I had looked at didn't fit on their bowls very well or were made out of materials which didn't seem like they would outlast me--as they should. These tops are durable, make a good seal that wont pop off or leak. And they're labeled with the various volumes of the bowls. The size range of the set is also very good--from one the size of a cereal bowl to one large enough for a pot-luck salad without being so big that it wouldn't fit in a kitchen cabinet--and they all fit inside each other without the smaller ones rising above the rims of the larger ones. You can put all the bowls inside each other then close them all up with the largest top--with enough room to put paper towels between each bowl and the next for safety. "goods received in good condition", I was pleased with the condition the 8 piece mixing bowl set . It came in good time. "Pyrex rules!", I got this for a super low price and having already had a set, I knew I could use the lids. Well, I was right.....I have 2 sets. 8 bowls total, but only 4 covers which is all I need and I don't know how I managed without them before!!! Pyrex takes a beating, that's for sure and they keep their shine and newness. "Great Quality Bowls to last a lifetime!", I recently purchased 2 sets of these bowls, one for myself and the other for a friend of mine. The 8 piece set is great! I like the variety of sizes that the bowls come in and the lids are great for storing food in the refridgerator. Glass bowls are so much better than plastic bowls because they don't absorb the smells of the foods you make in them. They are also very easy to clean. I love these bowls and highly recommend them! |
