Others say...
"You weigh the options" This is my second Rowenta. I did not learn the first time. My first Rowenta lasted about a year and a half. It did a fabulous job while it worked but obviously did not last long. To replace it, I purchased this Steam Advancer. Again, I was thrilled with the product, until it stopped heating after three months. I sent it to the Authorized Repair Center; it was under warranty and it finally came back to me after about a month and a half. Now the iron heated up but leaked all over the clothes. I sent it back to the Repair center two months ago; they are now telling me they are awaiting a replacement shipment and it should be in "by the end of the week" (I've called weekly since I sent the iron; no iron has been returned to me yet.) While I wait for the Rowenta, I'm using an old P&G workhorse that probably cost a little over $10 and has worked steadily for over twelve years. I paid over $120 for my Rowenta, and have been able to use it about a third of the time I've owned it (seven months). My first Rowenta lasted less than two years. You do the math. "Great product, but a bit heavy" It's excellent and the settings are adjustable to avoid damaging the finest of fabrics. It's a bit heavy, which took some getting used to. Other than that, excellent for the price! "Two irons quit working in 3 months!" Always trusted Rowenta for excellent quality, but my Rowenta Advancer happened to be a pile of junk! First one broke same day I bought it, which I exchanged and now second one quit working after 3 months of use. As much as I liked design and powerful steam, it is not useful when irons keep quitting! Lights come on, and pulsating like it was heating, however NO HEAT, it just stopped heating, both of them... The more it costs, the faster it quits grrrr. STAY AWAY "Professional Results" We iron regularly and appreciated our first Rowenta iron, definitely getting our moneys worth out of it. It actually got hot enough to accomplish the task without having to wear yourself out by using pressure as required by most cheaper irons today, but it dripped water on the clothes being ironed. As soon as it quit working, we looked into a new Rowenta and through reviews found that leakage problems had been answered with the new Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer, along with added steam power. We don't see ironing as fun or exciting but this does take some of the drudgery out of it. You truly can get professional results with the Rowenta Advancer. "A Professional Iron for Home Use" This Rowenta iron is absolutely fantastic! It is almost like having a professional iron for home use. Advantages - micro steam holes that allow thorough and uniform steam output, pointed tip with steam holes to get at hard to iron places like in-between buttons, cuffs, etc., large capacity water tank, excellent temperature control, variable steam setting, effortless glide bottom surface. Diadavantages - heavier than your average iron, would have been nice to have a retractable cord reel, $60 price premium over the simpler Rowenta Focus model [for the price, it ought have come with a heat-resistant rubber iron rest pad]. Otherwise, this is an iron of excellent quality, is worth the investment and will last a very long time. It's hard to imagine what other additional features one would want in an iron like this!

What our customer's say! "The Best Iron I have ever owned", I have been ironing for 31 years now (gee how time flies when you are having fun!), and this is by far the best iron I have ever owned. I have gone from owning dime store irons, to department store irons; and now this, the Cadillac of irons! It is definitely worth the money. I was spoiled on my T-Fall iron, but the steamer on it went out within 6 months but since it was a heavy weight iron I held onto it for 10 years. Then I was browsing the Amazon website and read up on the Rowenta irons. Since I use extremely heavy starch in my shirts (Sta-Flo), the T-Fall iron couldn't handle the starched in wrinkles my shirts had (since I would dip them and hang them up to dry); but this Rowenta iron gets the wrinkles out perfectly with 1-2 passes over each area. It actually makes this dreadful chore a little easier. "The best yet!", I consider myself an ironing aficionado.(I even re-iron my dry cleaning), and I must say this is the best iron I have ever owned. Don't worry about the extra weight of this iron, with all its steam vents, it literally guilds over the fabric. It works as well on difficult fabrics such as linen and equally as well on silk. Just buy it! It's worth the exrta money. "All the glitters", When I bought the Black and Decker 2030 based on recommendations on this site, I was hoping that it would perform better than my 17 year old Norelco 725 steam iron which required that I spray the garment with water before ironing to get a good press. But when I compared the two (with the both on the highest steam setting), making a single slow pass over a linen shirt, the Norelco actually did better! The B&D burst of steam was impressive, but it wasn't enough to remove the wrinkles on its own. The B&D has its steam holes around the perimeter, leading me to try out the Rowenta DZ9080 which has them distributed more evenly. It has a larger plate and looks great. But using the same test, the Rowenta was the poorest performer. The Rowenta did have the best, finest, water spray. But like the B&D's, the Rowenta spray points straight ahead; you have to lift and tilt the iron down to spray the item, which then causes an unnecessary burst of steam. "Doesn't last!", I am very disillusioned with the concept buying a high end iron, especially a Rowenta iron. It just quit heating completely and suddenly within only 2 years of purchase. I was very pleased with the steaming ability of this iron and expected, at this over $100 price point, it would last a very long time. My cheap Black and Decker iron is still going strong after 10+ years! Of course, there is no local repair facilitiy in the Sacramento area. The nearest Rowenta repair facility in in the San Francsico Bay area. My calls to Rowenta consumer "Service" were unsatisfying. All they would do is send me a $15 gift certificate for toward the purchase of a new Rowenta iron!! Why would I continue to be a Rowenta customer??? "THE WORST IRON!!!!!!", THIS IS THE WORST IRON I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. I ALSO BOUGHT A SECOND ONE THINKING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WAS A FLUKE BUT IT IS NOT. WILL NOT HEAT UP AFTER 4 MONTHS OF USE AND THE AUTO CUTOFF QUIT WORKING 2ND MONTH. BEWARE, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Great Iron", I love this iron. I am a tailor and the iron is heavier than others that I have looked. The steam pattern is so much better distributed. "BAD IRON", Very bad iron burned my shirt and darkened the ironing board did not heat I did not even use it much I had to throw it out I paid a hundred dollars for this Please do not buy this iron "Best Iron with Quality Control Problem", I loved this iron and it was/is the best iron I have ever used. Unfortunately, there are serious quality control problem with this iron. The first one over heat and put burn mark on my shirt after 3 months of used. Got a replacemeent from the store I got it from and every thing was fine for about 4 months. Yesterday, the control knob fell out of the unit when my wife turned it off. I could not figure out how to put it back so I took it back to the store and get the DZ5080 instead. Hopefully, the DZ 5080 does not have similar QA problem. "best iron on the market", This iron cuts my ironiong time in half. It is easy to use, outperforms every iron I've ever used, and makes the task of ironing fun and rewarding. What other small appliance can you say that about? "Awesome Iron", Awesome, heavy duty iron, it works well the only downside is it draws alot of electricity to operate ![]() |
