"Worth paying extra for" Finally, we have a worthy iron that is almost professoinal grade! THE only thing that prevented this review from being a five star is that it is a bit heavier than we'd like. Smooth ride on the ironing board, temperature & steam always seem perfect. Can be summed up in one word really.... QUALITY. "pressing need" Rowenta DZ5080 Focus Stainless-Steel 1700-Watt Iron This was a replacement for a previously purchased iron. The former was the same make and model. It performed extremely well with easy to control dials. We received top quality service from the former and anticipate the same from the current product. A great iron. "The Perfect Iron" It is perfect in every way - right weight - right amount of heat and amount of moisture. Worth every penny! "BAD BRAND - STAY AWAY" I have the same problem with the Rowenta auto-shutoff as several other reviewers on amazon and elsewhere. Bought a Rowenta iron in Aug'07. The autoshutoff started kicking in even when the iron was in use. Suddenly during use, iron shuts off and red light begins to blink. Only way to restart - switch on and off OR bang it down hard sideways on the ironing board ("gentle sideways shaking" recommended by the manual doesn't cut it). Then 15-20 seconds later - same problem. Returned and got a replacement in Sept'07. Autoshutoff broke again again in May'08. Out of 90 days return/replace policy - so seller won't return OR replace. Only option to send to Rowenta service center prepaid and wait for 2-3 weeks for it to come back. Better toss and buy a different brand. WITH extended warranty this time. Oh well... No more Rowenta EVER. "Recommend." It would be helpful to be able to regulate the amount of steam. When the steam is on, there is a constant gush of steam. Great for stubborn wrinkles, but not always necessary and requires frequent refilling with water.

What our customer's say! "Love it!", Aside from the fact that the setting dial is easily rotated during usage which has caused one or two close calls/minor melting of certain fabrics, I love this iron. My favorite part about the iron is the shape of the tip. It tapers and is more slender than most of my previous irons which allows ironing between pockets, creases, buttons and any other small or awkward area with ease. My old cheaper iron was heavier and spit up left and right. I haven't had problems with this one in terms of spitting up. The fact that it is a Rowenta and was less than $100 are just the icing on the cake! "finally", After purchasing 3 expensiveish irons and hating them - leakyness, breaking waaaay too easy, not working... I finally splurged and purchased this iron. Holy cow. This is the most amazing iron I have ever used. I almost like to iron with it. But - the steam will burn you if you aren't carefull, and it is really light so I now have a burn on my inner forearm from tilting it in while not paying attention... Worth it though for the amazingness of the iron. "Great Iron", After using GE, Shark and Black & Decker, I moved over to Rowenta Focus DZ5080. This is a great iron. The 400 tiny holes for steam in the soleplate does do a very good job. It is a light iron and easy to use and control. Most ergonomic iron I have ever used. The Black & Decker Iron I used was also good but it was heavy when filled with water. "WAS great, then the LEAKING began!", My husband and I loved this iron- the design, the numerous steam holes, the way it glided over fabrics- and then, the LEAKING began. Profuse leaking. It started after approximately one year- we would find huge puddles of water under the iron on our counter where we left it over night. It would spill puddles on to clothing after a few minutes of use. Please, understand: we did NOT overfill it with water, and we did NOT put in distilled water, either. We followed all instructions exactly, including cleaning the iron out to be sure there was no blockage- the iron just started malfunctioning. Thankfully, we purchased it from Bed Bath and Beyond- they ALWAYS accept returns on defective merchandise with your receipt (I kept ours!). I would probably NOT buy this particular brand again. "Great Iron!!!!", This iron works great and is easy to use. Be careful, it gets incredibly hot! I love it ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Very good for the price", Works like a charm.. Heavier than some irons, but in some ways that make pressing easier. Haven't used it a lot yet, but so far, it's great. No drips. Good steam. "Great Iron", This is my second Rowenta iron. This is an upgrade model compared to the one I dropped and broke! I really like this iron. It is heavy enough to do a great ironing job. The steam functions perfectly. My only complaint would be when you set it up the location of the cord has a tendenancy to cause the iron to fall forward...since I dropped my last iron I am very cautious of this. "TERRIFIC", The Rowenta DZ5080 is absolutely terrific. Before this iron I had a Shark and I was not at all in love with it. With the Shark iron I had tons of clothes to iron because I did not like to use the Shark, but ever since I purchased the Rowenta I have not 1 piece of clothing to iron. I am completely satisfied with this one! I get through the ironing in half the time of the "SHARK". So buy the Rowenta you will love it... Very powerful!!!and full of steam, it's the Mercedes of irons. "Best iron", This is the best iron I've ever owned. It isn't too heavy, has loads of steam and makes ironing a breeze! The only minor exception I can make is you may see some "spitting" on the clothes if you let the water reservoir get too low. I loves to make steam so give it plenty of water and it works great! This is an excellent iron. I'm very pleased with it! "electronic controls not as advertised", This is a good iron. The sole plate, in particular, is quite nice - it has a well laid out abundance of steam holes, a unique tip that really helps get into corners well and the anti-drip feature works well on lower heat settings and dry iron settings. It is light weight and has a long cord. Overall I am happy with this. It is an expensive iron, but not as expensive as many of the other Rowenta models and the T-Fal I compared it to. My one complaint is about the readiness controls. The LED in the handle exhibits a series of color flashes that you will miss if you are not watching the iron warm up. When there is no color the iron is ready to go. This is not intuitive to me. I saw a floor sample of this iron (by serial #) at a local retailer with the 3 color electronic controls (green for ready, yellow for warming up and red for not ready yet.) Comparison charts on the Rowenta website indicate that this mode/serial# has the tricolor LED controls. This is the iron I thought I was ordering - again by serial number - and yet there is no tri-color control. I am not sure what is happening with Rowenta, but after some research I find that several local retailers have the tri-color control model as a floor sample, while the available stock is the more basic circular on/off with just the single, confusing LED to signal readiness. So again, the iron is really fine, it just does not have the controls advertised on the Rowenta site comparison charts or seen in retail floor samples. ![]() |
