" Nutcracker Nice But Still Takes Work"
If you adjust it properly, it makes the job a bit easier, but it's still a task to shell nuts.

"Does a great job!"
We have lots of pecans this year and it is a big job to crack all of the nuts with a hand cracker. It is easy to use and I will be making a lot more pecan recipes with the help of this nut cracker.

"Best Nutcracker on the Market"
I love this thing.

I had harvested a whole bunch of little walnuts at my wife's cousin's place. They were about the size of grape and very hard. The walnuts had a wonderful maple flavor, so they begged to be eaten with abandon.

You could crack into these walnuts with an ordinary nutcracker (by applying a LOT of pressure), but it was very difficult to get any large pieces of nut-meat out. The nut would either hold up to pressure until it just shattered all over the place, or it would just split into two and you'd have to re-crack each side to get at the nut-meat (and most-likely shatter the sides too).

I wanted to make a walnut liquor and the regular nutcracker was not going to allow me to efficiently open enough nuts to make that happen.

I found this nutcracker online and am pleased to report that it surpassed expectations. It is able to handle large nuts and very small nuts. The handle gives you a lot of leverage, so cracking nuts is very easy on your hands. Best of all - you can easily control how much you squash each nut, so it is fairly simple to obliterate the shell while leaving the meat intact. I was able to crack into the hundreds of nuts I used for my liquor in about an hour.

I haven't cracked anything but walnuts, but I've seen other reports that it can get into just about any nut it meets.

Not only does it work well, I also like the aesthetic. It is fairly unique-looking as far as nutcrackers go and guests always feel the need to try it out and play with it.

Purchase with confidence and enjoy!

"Very disappointing"
Only good for cracking the same size nut.
By that I mean you can crack other sizes, but it takes for ever to adjust.

I bought two of these (at the same time or order) and returned both of them. You may want to google for Lehman's best nutcracker. It's expensive around $30 but the design is great, by that I mean there is nothing to adjust for any size nut and it will crack black walnuts with a
compound action, 11 inch lever, weight is around 4 pound I believe.

"excellent"

What our customer's say!

"Unimpressed", I got the Pecan Nut Cracker because my brother has one and I like his. His is a much higher quality. Mine works, but I'm not real happy with it. The paint/varnish is bubbled and the base was scratched. I'm keeping it, only because it would cost more to send it back and ask for my money back. I really don't care for it.

"Pass on this one", I had high hopes for this, after reading the reviews here. The product was described as being mounted on the base. Mine arrived with all four mounting screws pulled out of the base--not mounted at all. Just bits of sawdust clinging to the tiny loose screws. Of course, they wouldn't stay in when I tried to replace them. Definitely made in China. Probably would work other than that. I haven't decided whether to return it or just find some larger screws and remount it. It was packed well, so the damage was likely not done during shipping. This is my first bad experience on Amazon, but I blame the seller.

"Dangerous Design Flaw", This product lasted less than 10 minutes for me.

The problem is a design flaw that most people will not see until they attempt to crack smaller-sized nuts. I was cracking hickory nuts, which are smallish but not ridiculously so -- and the product failed within the first 20 nuts.

The way you adjust for nut size is a threaded cylinder on the side opposite the handle. You can see it in the picture. It works fine. I do not agree with one reviewer that it is hard to adjust. Not at all -- it takes a few seconds.

The problem is that it needs to be an inch longer.

That threaded cylinder is so short that you almost can't adjust it close enough to the other side to handle hickory nuts. But you can -- just barely. I did. But then it was being held in by just a few threads -- which were not enough to keep it stable under the pressure of actually cracking the nuts. The cylinder slipped and became cross-threaded in its sleeve. I can't budge it now -- it might as well be welded. I will never be able to crack anything *but* a hickory nut.

If it had failed just a little differently, I kind of think that I could have been harmed.

It's a shame because this is a perfectly good design (although it would be nice if the whole device were a little bit bigger, a little bit beefier.) If they had made that cylinder just one inch longer this problem would be impossible. Somebody decided to save 20 cents in the cost. Very foolishly.

The fact that this can happen so easily means that the people who designed and built this device did not bother to test test it as they should have. What other problems did they miss that I don't know about? You know -- nutcrackers develop a lot of force, in close proximity to people's fingers. Fingers are important. Testing your products is important.

After I finish writing this review, I'm going to order a more expensive nutcracker from Lehman's. When it arrives, I will drop this one in the trash and forget it.

The only thing I will keep is a little mental note of the manufacturer's name.

"Cracks the Hardest Native Pecans", Once you get the hang of it, this is the best nutcracker for cracking those hard-shelled Texas pecans. Ten times better than a hammer (what I was using before I got it), this cracker leaves the nut meat whole or in usable pieces rather than smashing it all to pulp.

It takes a little practice to get it just right, but then you can really go to work on a batch of the best nuts around.

I would like to have a setup so that the shells didn't fly all over, but that's really my only complaint.

If you're dealing with nuts with very, very hard shells, I recommend you get one of these. It will do the job!

Four stars!

"Just like my Grandfather made", Great price! Great cracker. If you have any amount of nuts to crack, you should not be without this. Of course it's much cheaper to crack your own and if you have a pecan tree, it's a must have. Shipping time was much better than other products that I bought here.

"Not all its cracked up to be", I purchased the Duke 0100 a while back, but haven't used it much until recently. Adjustable screw part stripped out after approx. 4 dozen nuts, leaving the unit completely useless.

"I love it!", This has been a major time saver for me. I have been looking for this nut cracker for some time and my husband purchased it for me for
Christmas. Love it!!

"Duke 010 Nut Cracker", The product works great. I shelled around 50 pecans in less than 30 minutes. I am NOT happy about the shipping process. They sent the item using UPS. UPS is famous for knocking at the door and running...leaving the package at the doorstep! The nut cracker was packed in a non-protective plastic bag. The nut cracker box was damaged and not in the best of shape. I was going to give it as a gift, but because of the packing decided not to. This company is cheap when it comes to shipping items. If this is any indication of how they send other items, I would be leering about buying from them again!

"One of the best tools I have bought recently. ", This is wonderful. We recently bought a home with several walnut trees that had not been taken care of so the nuts are all different sizes, and this cracker adjusts easily. You can sit in front of the TV and process almost a full grocery bag of nuts in less than an hour. Easy on arthrithic hands.

"Great leverage for those really tough nuts!", My wife was having problems trying to open black walnuts. Her hand was too small and fragile to hold the hand grip nutcrackers and she couldn't get any leverage because the hand grip had to open so very wide to accommodate the width of the walnuts.

This great little tool solved the problem immediately! Effortless to use, it makes short work out of extracting perfect unbroken nut meat out of the hardest and largest walnuts. We put the tool in a small box so the shell pieces didn't make a mess when each nut was cracked.

I can highly recommend this teriffic little nutcracker, without hesitation! Great product cracks the toughest nuts with ease.
