Others say...
"My Blender works just fine =)" I've had this blender over a year now, but have not used it excessively. I've started using it again recently to make raw green smoothies & other raw smoothies. It works perfectly for me. I'm not sure why some people are having trouble with the bottom falling off?? Bizarre, since the bottom twists & locks into place. I guess if you don't attach it properly in the first place, then it's your own fault that the bottom falls out. Seriously, there's no way for the bottom to come off unless you do not attach it properly. You have to push it down & twist it & you will hear it click & lock onto the jar. Anyway... It blends everything perfectly for me. Some of my latest creations have included watermelon, bananas, strawberries, baby carrots (whole), spinach, kale, watercress, blueberries, cherries, mangoes, pineapple, raw almonds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, raw oatmeal, and everything else you can imagine. It liquefies everythng I put in there easily & quickly. When it was brand new, yes, it gave off a burning rubber kind of smell. But that's typical of most new appliances such as this. It's just how things are. It goes away after a few uses. The glass jar is awesome - very heavy duty. So much nicer than plastic! At any rate, its a nice blender as far as I'm concerned. It does what I need it to do, cleans super easy, and doesn't take up huge amounts of counter space. "Heavy Duty, Quiet" This is a great heavy duty blender. It is also quiet as comparied to others I have owned. "Yes Indeed: Bottom Detaches from Glass and DISASTER." I had about a year of decent use out of this Expensive Blender. But I was *constantly* having to watch out for the bottom blade assembly detaching itself from the glass jar as I was lifting the jar/blade assembly off the motor base. The blade assembly is in a plastic housing that doesn't "lock" cleanly with the jar unless you're extra careful. Even then, you should check it to make sure the jar is seated properly. In addition to numerous "close calls," I had two major spill incidents where I lifted up the jar, it came loose from the blade assembly, and the entire contents of the jar dumped all over the counter and the base. The first time I was able to get the base dried out and running fine. The second time, two bananas, a large dollop of peanut butter, and 4 scoops of Optimum Whey Extreme Chocolate protein powder and 20 ozs. of skim milk, all nicely blended and sticky, spilled everywhere, including into the base. After I cleaned up the base, I tried to dry out the motor inside by using a hair drier. No dice. The motor was trashed. Likewise, I couldn't take the bottom of the base off to get to the motor itself without a special tool "star point" wrench - probably a good idea for those "boy Edisons" like myself. Before I bought the Krups, I had a Cuisinart blender that I got at Lowe's for under 50 bucks. I burned the motor out on that puppy with daily use (protein shakes) after a year, but I never had the issues I had with the Krups - or the cost. So, back to Lowe's. Run 'em till they croak, then toss. You gotta love modern living. "Best (& Quietest) Blender I've Owned" Just finished my first blend - was a bit worried after reading all of the negative reviews concerning about whether this unit can adequately blend frozen fruit. First impression - very nice. Smoothie with frozen strawberries (+ almond milk & protein powder) was well blended. Unit did turn itself off, either from an (unseen) auto timer or the heat sensor issues raised in other reviews, but my smoothie was finished anyway. Very quiet blending - a huge plus as my cheapo blenders used to make me plug my ears and I'm sure woke the neighbors (apartment neighbors), as loud as jackhammers. So far so good, very pleased. UPDATE: Many smoothies later - it occurs to me that those complaining about the lack of a "vortex" action, or incomplete blending, probably aren't following the blender directions. You must start the blender on its lowest setting first, then once the material has been broken down, you can move it up the speed list. If you make it go too fast too soon, there is no vortex action. My smoothies are chock full of frozen stuff and this blender handles it well (if I follow the unit's directions). Wonderful to be in the same room with an operating blender and not worry about hearing loss... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! *UPDATE - 3 MONTHS LATER* 2 Blends a day, this blender handles it all, does a great job, still very quiet, I'm buying an extra for the office soon. "Not worth the money" This blender won't even blend a banana, there are always little chunks left in the bottom. The motor has an electrical burning smell and the bottom can open very easily, draining all the liquid onto the motor base and that burns out the motor!! It's not a very good piece of kitchen equipment. Krups should be ashamed of itself!

What our customer's say! "Finally, a nice blender with a glass jar that works perfectly!", I love this blender. The jar is especially large and it works perfectly. You must start at a low speed and work up to a high speed and it will blend your smoothies to perfection. Thanks to Amazon's amazing service, I received this blended promptly after ordering. "good and very quiet - not cheap", THis is my second krups blender , they are big and powerful but quiet. I like them but they are a little on the expensive side. "Krups Blender", This is the best blender I have ever purchased. The chop ice option is great. It is easy to use and easy to clean up after use. "Flawed. Could have been the best.", This should have been the best blender on the market. Quiet, yet powerful. Easy to clean. Glass jug. Stable base on jug so it won't tip over. Acceptable price. One problem. It lacks power, no matter how many watts it's supposed to be. It can't handle the task if the ingredients are not thinned out first by adding lots of water. The motor burns out. (That's happened twice.) So keep your receipt (although the warranty is only one year). If you do buy one of these, be sure to put clear plastic tape (the wide kind you use for packages) over the buttons to keep liquids and powders from getting inside them. You just push the buttons through the tape. "umm not sure if I'm loving it.", I received it for my bridal shower. Broke it out for the july 4th weekend to make frozen watermelon margheritas. yum (frozen watermelon cubes, contreau, lime juice, tequila- much more healthy than the shakes described in the other reviews;. It did smell, but so did my new toaster, its just a new appliance smell. It DID blend the margheritas, but it left chunks of watermelon in the center. Not the worst experience, but this thing is like a tank compared to my hamilton beach blender that did the job (loud) but got it done. i wouldnt run out to buy it, but its not the worst. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Krazy about my Krups!", I just purchased this Krups blender to replace a very old J.C. Penney model...that tells you how long its been since I have bought a blender, since Penney's hasnt sold appliances under their own name for eons! Anyway, I was impressed by the solid construction and the 60 oz. capacity as well as the controls. I wanted it to make smoothies and my favorite blender cheesecake, mostly. I was very pleased with the fact that it is very quiet and eases into speeds. The ice crushing feature is terrific...intermittent bursts instead of something sounding like you are destroying your kitchen :) All I did was put in 2 fresh peaches, a cup of peach mango juice, blended that up, then added the ice... about 10 cubes, 5 at a time. Finished up by blending the whole thing for about 10 seconds and it was done....and delicious! The only drawback is all the nooks and crannies in the plastic assembly...it was a pain to try and dry the parts after I washed them. Next time I will just put them in the dishwasher, cranny side down :) I did notice the machine smell, but I figure that will dissapate when the appliance has been used more. On the whole, I am REAL satisfied! "Holds Up Well to Heavy Use", We bought this blender about 9 months ago because the cheaper blenders couldn't handle the job pulverizing the frozen fruit in the daily smoothie. Blades kept breaking. But spending three times as much really has paid off. This unit is STURDY and does the job well. "A Big Mess", The only experience I have with this blender is that when you go to take it off the motor the plastic base (where the blade is) comes off the glass and will give you a big mess..... Very poor design. "Just a pretty face", This is a nice looking blender but it is a wimpy appliance. It consistently leaves chunks of ice and lumps of fruit in my morning smoothie. Quiet? Yes, but only because it doesn't have enough power to do the job. And then there's the burning rubber smell that it gives off. Very annoying! This was a replacement for a Waring RB75 that lasted 5 weeks before the blade assembly broke. We will be replacing this one today with a Cuisinart. "AVOID: POOR ENGINEERING", I am changing my review - I wish I could change the rating to one star: The locking mechanism that attaches the blade to the jar can accidentally and easily unlock. So far we have had two spills on that account. I am going to return the blender. To follow up on the original review: The smell when running at hight speed went away, so that was only a result of breaking in. When we do not run the blender for long enough (quite long), chunks of fruit remain. Original review: This is a very quiet blender that makes smoothies much creamier that I was used to. A major upgrade over the now dead 600W Cuisinart. Very high capacity, nice design, easy to clean. Not nearly as heavy as the super heavy Cuisinart, but still very solid. I like the gradual start - no violent splashes. This being said, not everything is positive: The first instance of this blender kept shutting off after a few seconds of operation. I suspect the temperature sensor was poorly set. The replacement (no hassle at a nearby BBB) works well. There is some smell when operating at a high speed, hopefully just breaking in - the smell is rapidly becoming less intense. Bottom line: Buy it at a local store with a good return policy. I believe the quietness and blending capability are worth the risk of an extra trip to the store. ![]() |
