"Performs!", We're delighted with this: heats large room quickly and quietly; easy to roll around; great value for the price ($79.00).

I first used it outside to eliminate any possible initial odor, so we had no problem with odor.

The thermostat does not turn it off as quickly in a large room, but we don't have a problem with this.

"Nice, but broke after 1.5 years", I really liked this heater, but it broke after 1.5 years, I used it for 2 winters. Then, it started making electric arcing noises, and I saw light flashing from the front of it. It was quiet (it has no fan) except for some occasional popping/expansion/contraction noises when it was cycling off (cooling down), but most of the time they were hardly noticeable, only once in a while would it make a loud enough pop that it got my attention, it made less popping sounds on the low setting than on the high setting. It is a sad society nowadays that products are not made to last long. It is now taking up space and polluting the earth in a landfill. I was going to open up the case and see if I could fix it but it has non-standard screws.

"May not be an energy saver", This heater has the ability to heat at minimum power of 750W or maximum power of 1500W with a thermostat that offers 6 setting. It can also be wall-mounted or placed on a stand with pieces for either mounting in the box with the heater.
I used it in a 332' square area at the 1500W setting and accelerated my light bill by an average of $25.00 a month. It did keep the area warm though the power consumption was a surprise.
I had my first heater replaced under warranty after it simply quit heating and had no issues with warranty service.

"Great Item", I use this when the nights get cold and I need quick heat. Does good when it sits right next to you. Will not heat a room fast.

"Shoddy Product, Useless Customer Service", After having owned a couple of the old oil-filled DeLonghi radiators for years, they had performed very well with a great heat output. When they both began to die, I spent a couple of hours of research to find a solid replacement with a good heat output, which led me the DeLonghi HH1500 flat panel mica radiator. When it arrived the heat output was not as good as the oil-filled units I was used to, but was adequate, and the unit took up less space. The unit completely died, apparently not even having any power output, after less than 5 weeks of use. I immediately contacted DeLonghi about the problem. They told me to bring the unit to their nearest service center, which was over two hours away. When I contacted them to ask for another alternative, they gave me thorough instructions about all of the documentation I needed to mail in along with the cut off power cord and a check to cover the shipping charges for the new unit. I was given an order confirmation number for the replacement unit which would be sent to me. Several weeks later the envelope was returned, and I spent close to an hour waiting at the post office to get it sent back to them right away and make sure that it got there. The next week, I received a call saying that replacement units were not available, and that all they could offer me was a refund. Despite speaking with a supervisor, they would not let me wait for a replacement unit to become available or offer me any credit towards a different model of heater. The refund did nothing to cover all of the wasted hours dealing with them, postage charges, or the half a winter I spent without the heater. I am 47 years old, and this is one of the couple of worst experiences I have ever had with a product or Customer Service Department. I would not recommend buying any DeLonghi products.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Great in Most Ways But Don't Like the Toxic Smell", This heater is excellent in several ways: it is quiet, heats up fast, is lightweight, it looks great, it has a good thermostat, and is wall-mountable. The only downside is that I still notice an odor when I turn it on. I can smell this within seconds of turning it on, and I have had the heater for months now. I did leave it on for several hours the first time to burn off some kind of coating, as instructed. The odor may not be harmful in any way, but it smells "toxic", and I don't want to to take the chance, so I bought that Costco Presto parabolic heater to replace it, which is also silent. I originally rated this heater 5 stars but now consider it about 2.5 stars due to the odor problem.

One other potential issue is the question of how close an electric heater should be to your body. You can sit right next to it to quickly warm yourself up in a cold room, but those parabolic heaters would be better for this purpose since they radiate heat at a longer distance. The manufacturer advises keeping the heater 3 feet from objects on the side that radiates heat. The heater is designed as a room heater rather for local heating, and it works well for this purpose, minus the odor which I can no longer stand. There is also a potential health concern about any sort of strong electric fields that are close to your body, so that is another reason to keep it a few feet away from you.

"Disappointed. ", Most of the heat given off by the unit goes straight up and therefore it really needs to be close to you if you want to feel the heat during the first hour or so that it is on. I was looking for a unit that would instantly heat the area in front of it.

It doesn't seem to give off enough heat to heat a large room--or if it can, it would take many hours to do it. Once again, I wanted a unit that made a difference in the temperature of the room more quickly.

I was also disappointed when the directions that come with the unit indicate that this should NOT be used in a bathroom. The information on this site lists "Bathroom water-splash protection," so I was hoping to use it in the bathroom.

On the positive side--it is quiet.



"Silent and really warm!", We live in a studio apartment and the only source of heat we had was a noisy wall unit. This unit is very thin and we have attached it to the wall. It is absolutely silent and keeps the studio (approximately 400 square feet) very warm. It has a temperature control feature that works very well. I highly recommend this product!

"Excellent supplemental heat", This heater is by far the best "supplemental" room heater we have owned. We've had them all from radiating floor models, an expensive tower fan model and for the past several years an oil-filled radiator which we would have kept had the internal wiring not fried (not a good feeling when your bedroom heater goes up in smoke).

I emphasize "suplemental" as you may be disappointed if you expect to heat a room with this heater alone, but we love it in our bedroom. It's very quiet, generates heat almost instantly and it's stylish. We mounted ours on the wall and it's very unobtrusive, it just doesn't get in the way like so many others tend to do. Highly recommended, and if you shop right you can find it with a 2 year extended warranty for about $10.00.

Oh, and for those even slightly worried about that "impossible to remove label," I had no problems. Here's the trick for removing gummy residue from labels. Spray a little WD-40 on a paper towel and wipe, repeat if needed. Then spray some kitchen cleaner on another paper towel, wipe off the oily residue and you're done!

"Perfect Heater for a bedroom", I investigated many, many heaters before purchasing this one. Yes, one has to "burn off" the heater on high for a couple of hours to remove the smell, but after that, it works perfectly without any odor.

I use it in my bedroom and after setting the thermostat, the heater keeps the room at exactly the temperature I want, completely silently. A perfect heater.

Postscript: after using the heater last winter, I can say that it performed perfectly. It kept my bedroom warm at almost the lowest setting. I would recommend it to anyone.
