"Great for Singles"
I've always cooked rice on the stovetop and I never thought I would prefer the rice cooker to my tried and true method. However, my method doesn't work as well when a person is cooking just enough rice for one. If I cooked enough to get consistant results, I wasted too much. Also, I switched from an electric coil stove to a flat top, and every pot of rice boiled over.

This cooker is the perfect solution. I can make just enough for me without sacrificing quality. It is very easy, and the brown rice is the best I've ever tasted. No boiled-over messes, extremely convenient and easy to clean while using very little counter space. I expect to use this cooker every day.

"This is the BEST!!"
After burning out 3 pots trying, I quit making rice until I could find a cooker that was the right size (small), was easy to clean, and wouldn't break after 3 uses (National). When i saw the Zojirushi could also make steel cut oats I was sold. I have used it for 2 weeks and made sushi rice, white rice and steel cut oats. The timer is great! It has my breakfast ready and waiting when I wake up and comes out perfectly every time. The rice has also been flawless. I love the size (same size as my toaster) and the retractable cord. The bowl inside is non-stick, and removable making it a breeze to clean. This is a winner!! It is perfectly sized for singles or couples. I could not be happier!

ps: Best steel cut recipe is 1:2.5 (oats to water), programmed on 'Porridge' setting.

"Where have you been all my life ?!?!"
I recently purchased this very rice cooker. With as much Hanmi steamed rice that I eat, I easily justified the expense. Incidentally, I found the lowest price right here at Amazon.com - simply couldn't beat it!

This unit is one amazing little computerized cooker. I didn't think it would be possible to have the restaurant quality rice at home. On my first try, the rice was even better than that!

What a delight to have it come out so beautifully cooked and ready to be served.

I simply cannot emphasize how pleased and impressed I am with Zojirushi.

Simply the BEST !

"Great Product - Thanks for the reviews Amazon"
I bought this based on reviews I read on Amazon and was very happy with the results, the rice cooker works great.

"Awesome Product - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!"
Got this for a friend with many food issues and she absolutely loves it. The timer function is great for breakfast or when she's out all day. It's easy to travel with due to the compact size -- handle and retractable plug are great too. It's quite idiot-proof -- can handle variations to the directions -- never dries the rice out, and is great at keeping the rice warm. She's never been so excited about a product!!

What our customer's say!

"I love it", Great rice cooker. It can cook brown rice very well and I love it so much.

"I don't get it ...", All these great reviews ... I don't get it. I have tried several ways to try and make rice without success. Whether its a half cup or a whole it takes well over 1.5 hours to cook and I end up with moush. A few minutes in the microwave comes out so much better. I should have returned it when I had the chance.

"Should have bought sooner", I'm one of those people who believes in "the less clutter, the better," so I'm always loathe to purchase kitchen equipment that I might never use. I fear complicated and difficult-to-clean devices in particular. In my house, things that aren't dishwasher safe go to Goodwill in a hurry.

No part of the Zojirushi cooker is dishwasher safe, but that didn't stop me from falling in love with it after the first batch of perfectly-cooked rice. Unlike the pots I used to use to cook rice, this little machine's solid non-stick coated bowl sloughs off any and all bits of rice with the lightest brush of my hand. It's a cinch to clean. Handwashing the rice cooker bowl takes thirty seconds. That's less time than it used to take me to prewash/scrub the pots I used to use to cook rice before putting them in the dishwasher.

What's more, the rice comes out perfectly and evenly cooked; the machine plays cute songs when starting and stopping the cooking process, making cooking seem a little less awful (I hate cooking); the timer function means I don't lose any sleep getting fresh rice ready at 5 AM when I pack my husband's lunch; and the mixed rice function lets me throw in bits of chicken or other items to be cooked at the same time.

I couldn't be happier with this rice cooker and would recommend it to anyone who is considering a small cooker for their own family.

"Why did I wait so long?", For years, I had one of those inexpensive rice cookers that always burned half the rice. I kept looking at this rice cooker, but didn't take the plunge for a few years--the cost made me hesitate. It's been worth every penny, and you shouldn't hesitate if you're looking to make smaller amounts. I've made all kinds of rice, as well as steel cut oats, and the quality is always superb. It's easy to use, program, and clean. Highly recommend!

"Love this cute thing...!", I wanted a SMALL rice-cooker for my office, so I can eat lunch in a more healthy way and in a less expensive way. I like it a lot. I've made brown rice, white rice, and oatmeal in it. Someday soon I'll read the manual and figure out how to make the silly music go away. (I saw that that is do-able...) It plays twinkle twinkle little star or something, at various times, for various reasons, and I work in a library and this just won't do. It is sleek. It is gorgeous. I wish it didn't cost so much, but I'm SURE it's better and longer-lasting than a $30 or $40 alternative.

"Great Rice cooker", great rice cooker - very convenient and easy to use. 3 cups of sushi rice is enough to make 8 different rolls while using generous amount of rice in each. Sometimes thinking that I needed 5 cup cooker. White rice comes out amazing! However, I'm bigger fan of sushi rice. Recommended for all who likes rice but hates to cook it in a pan.

"What a great oatmeal cooker!", I actually haven't used this as a rice cooker yet, but for rolled oats in the morning, it can't be beat. I love the small size, about the size of a toaster, very easy to clean, just the right size for up to 4 people with reasonable appetites. Nice details like a retractable cord and a clock that works even when unplugged (watch battery-powered).

"Fabtastic Rice Cooker", I'll keep this brief, since there are a number of other posted positive reviews.

I have owned various sized rice cookers and this one fits the bill for a small cooker that prepares enough rice for a couple or small family.

I have had this one for about a month and used it about ten times. Overall, medium and long grain white rices take about 40 minutes to cook, but come out perfect every time! I have also made "fried" rice in this cooker, combining prepared ingredients (sauteed veggies, meat, fried egg, soy sauce and seasoning) with the rice before cooking, and it too came out perfectly done. Have also used it to keep rice warm for up to 4 hours with no degradation in the taste or texture.

The design is slick, with a fingerprint-free metal finish, retractable cord and rice spoon holder (spoon included!). It even plays jaunty tunes when first engaged and when your rice is ready. The top-mounted display is easy to read and program, especially when compared to competitors' models with front mounted displays.

My complaints are few. First, although it is called a 3-cup cooker, it recommends cooking no more than two cups of white rice (pre-cooked) at a time. Also, the manual is translated from the original Japanese which makes it a little awkward to understand at times. Finally, although there are recipes included in the manual, they are few and suffer from poor translation. Otherwise, all is well with the Zojirushi NS-LAC05.

A wise buy despite its few shortcomings!

"Great Product", This is a great product for a non-cook. I tried my hand at making brown rice with a pot and it came out pretty bad. But all you have to do with this product is follow the instructions and you have perfect brown rice.

"Great!", Great, it lives up to all the excellent reviews. I had used a Zojirushi rice cooker in a rental condo in Hawaii. I was reluctant to buy one because it is expensive. My husband wanted it so I bought it for his birthday. It has been worth the investment. We have used it for rice, oatmeal (set it up to be ready in the morning when you wake-up), and wheat berries. You have to adjust the water for other applications but everything turns out delicious. Wheat berries and steel cut oatmeal turn out almost like tapioca with a moist berries that pops in your mouth when you bite them.
