"shade grown coffee with conscience", I like mild and smooth coffee and the Ethiopian coffee has been great. Haven't gotten to the other bags yet, but my first experience with Pura Vida coffee from Central America was also very good. Shade grown coffee is more environmentally safe and fair trade organizations try to make sure the coffee workers are getting a living wage for the work they do. Makes my morning cups of coffee taste that much better knowing the big companies didn't make the profit......the little guys with families to support did.

Bold, darkly roasted without the bitterness that you so often get from other over roasted coffees.

Unlike a previous review...I thought the coffee was fresh and very aromatic.

"Below Average Cofee, over roasted and stale", Maybe because I ususally get coffee fresh roasted and consume it immediately, but I really didn't care for this coffee.

I found them to be very pedestrian over roasted for the type of beans they were. Any nuances in the Ethiopia and Sumatra were destroyed by the roaster who insisted on using a Dark French roast for these subtle beans. The result is a coffee devoid of the sweet fruit and chocolate undertones one would expect from a shade grown bean.

They also lacked a lot of flavor because I believe that these beans were out of their prime. Even if you have beans in a cryo pack like these came in, the optimum time for consuming roasted whole bean coffee is 2-3 weeks maximum. These tasted more like 2-3 months!

I was not impressed with this coffee for those reasons and would not buy them again.

"Great bold taste", I am using it to make cappuccino. Tastes great. Flavor stands up well to the milk.

"Good stuff", Delicious organic coffees in a cool sampler pack. You can't beat the flavor or the price.

"Fabulous coffee - better than Starbucks!", I first purchased this coffee because I recently decided to go a little more organic. Let me tell you, this stuff is amazing! The taste is much cleaner and fresher than Starbucks, which is what we used to use. Actually, we ran out at one point and bought a bag of Starbucks, and neither me nor my husband liked the Starbucks as we did before!

And, proceeds go to coffee-producing countries. So, you getting great coffee at a better price than Starbucks, and you are contributing back to less fortunate people in coffee-producing countries. What could be better?

"coffee", The coffee was very good. I just wish they had more items to select in the variety pack. I'm still looking for that one flavor that says, this is it. I had a superb coffee in a local restaraunt and I've been trying to duplicate that taste for a couple of years now.

"Great for finding a favorite", I had been looking for a new source of whole bean coffees with a rich taste. In this sampler I found a new favorite, the Ethiopia Sidamo. It was a nice medium-dark roast with a rich, winey flavor that I loved. The Columbian was also a nice coffee. On the other hand, the Sumatra had an almost burned taste that was very acidic. The beans were fresher than many that I buy off-the-shelf and they are definitely a better value than the Gevalia that I have been receiving. These are a full 12-ounce.

"Great coffee... Great generocity... Great cause...", We have served this coffee at our Sunday morning church services for 8 years... it is wonderful to know that we are not lining the pockets of some mega corporation when we buy from Pura Vida...but helping children and families. I heard one visitor who moved out of state and had not been in services for over 3 years say, "I knew I would get a great cup of coffee this morning!" ... we love this coffee!
