Others say...
"Better Than Plastic!" I am so happy with my Pyrex food storage containers, I can't believe anyone would still use plastic storage. These containers are cleaner, don't get stained like plastic does, don't LEACH chemicals into your food, are super sturdy (I've dropped one and it didn't break), the lids are air tight and don't leak...what can I say. I'm hooked. Throw out your plastic and order these - you won't be disappointed! "Disappointed" Arrived with chipped bowl and I cannot get the lids to fit. I won't buy Pyrex through the mail, again. Very cheaply packaged. I am not impressed with this set. I wish I had chosen another manufacturer. "SO much happier with glass" These are great, sturdy glass flat-bottomed bowls with tight-fitting covers. At first I had a hard time getting on the covers, but I figured out the technique: You have to start at one place and seal around in a circle. I feel much safer using glass instead of plastic, and it's nice to be able to see the leftovers. I'm very happy with my purchase. "Great product!" These are perfect for storing leftovers and taking lunch to work. A lot better than storing and microwaving in plastic, these are the perfect replacement. "Lov'n my Pyrex" I think pyrex products are the best. Heavy glass that will not break easy. Microwaveable and very easy to clean! No more plastic that melts when you microwave it. Or smells and no more stains from pasta sauce. yuck! Very well worth the price and will have this for many years to come!

What our customer's say! "Great set for storage, heating, cooking, with airtight lids.", I got this 2-3 weeks ago and have used them for storing leftovers - stacked them in the fridge. Right now, I have a few pieces of chicken in the largest bowl in the oven. Re-heating food in the microwave is a snap now that I don't have to remove the food from the plastic containers that I used to use, and putting them in glass bowls to heat them up. The lids are tight and it takes a bit of technique to put them on. You should press down on one side with the palm of your hand and hold it there, and use your other hand to slide and press down from one side to the other end until the whole bowl is sealed. The smallest bowls have the tightest lids. The lids are airtight - you can press out the air when putting the lid on. Clean-up is easy and I love the dark blue lids. I have a larger pyrex salad bowl with a white lid, which got stained by marinara sauce; so, no more white lids for me! I just bought 2 other pyrex sets with dark blue lids (6-piece and 10-piece) to replace all my plastic containers and can't wait to get them on Monday! I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to save time in cleaning up, storing, re-heating, etc. "Pretty good, could be lots better", Like many others, I purchased these containers because of a concern with using plastic in the microwave. Pros: useful sizes, work well in microwave in terms of heating, easy to clean. Cons: Lids hard to deal with (tho since I cook with them more than store in them, this hasn't been a major aggravation), tend to get stuck together if you nest them, hard to handle (esp larger sizes) due to straight sides. Surely a thoughtful designer could improve these products--even so, I have bought two sets. "Great for at home food storage and take along lunches!", I have recently purchased this 18 piece set and have been using them daily to transport food for lunch and to store leftovers. They are very easy to clean and do not stain like the plastic containers (not even the plastic covers)! At first the covers were very hard to put on, particularly the smallest containers, but I found that the more you use them the easier it becomes. If you have arthritis or weaker hands, you may need some help with closing them up. "great, until you break them", I am a big fan of pyrex. I owned quite a few set of them. They are wonderful for storage. However, just make sure you don't break them. I dropped one from the shelf by accident one time, it broke into hundreds of tiny little pieces, and they were so fine and sharp, almost impossible to clean them up. I was so I still got half a dozen cut from tiny microscopic glass pieces. It is way worse than any other glass I ever broke. I had to keep my kids, and dog out of the kitchen for a week, just to make sure we got all the pieces. "Pyrex containers simplified my life", I had fairly recently invested in a set of Rubbermaid Premier containers when the news got out about BPA (bisphenol-A) leaching into foods from plastic. I didn't want to invest in more plastic -- even grades of plastic that are currently considered safe. I decided to go with glass. And I'm glad I did. This set is one of three that I purchased. I also bought the Pyrex Storage 6-Piece Refrigerator Shape Storage, Clear with Blue Lids and the Pyrex Storage 6-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids. With these three sets, I feel I have ample storage for whatever I cook for my family of four. I had feared that switching to glass -- although the right decision for me from a health-consciousness perspective -- would be the source of some headaches. I imagined having to be overly cautious with the containers, treating them super gently, worrying that they would slip out of the refrigerator and break, wondering how I would stack them in the cabinet without having them all fall down. To my delight, this hasn't been the case at all. The manufacturer's claim that the glass is light-weight is fair. Obviously, these aren't as light as plastic containers, but they are very manageable. The sizes in this 18-piece set are pretty versatile. The smallest bowls could fit a single serving of fruit or a side dish. The medium bowls are general purpose size. The largest bowls in this set are pretty spacious, and are about as big as you'd want in a glass bowl -- anything larger, and you would start to have problems fitting it in the fridge. These pieces are not as attractive as those in Pyrex's more fashionable lines, but I would have no qualms about serving from these at any casual meal. They look much nicer than anything plastic. The Pyrex lids are, to me, an improvement over the lids that come with Rubbermaid plastic containers. First, each lid has a lip that runs all the way around the outer edge. This allows the bowls to be stacked safely on top of each other, whether in the cabinet or in the refrigerator. The storage bowl on top rests inside the lip of the bowl on bottom and won't slide off. Also, the design of these lids makes them easier to clean. All the Rubbermaid container lids I've owned have had a very narrow opening on the outside edge where the container fits into the lid. These crevices can trap bits of food (usually sauces gone astray in my experience) and can be very difficult to clean. The Pyrex lids have a wide lip that can easily be wiped out. Other reasons I am glad I replaced my plastic containers with these: 1. No more concern about harmful chemicals getting into my food. 2. I can microwave leftovers right in the storage container. 3. I can wash these in the top or bottom rack of my diswasher without any worries. 4. I can put fish, tomato sauce, whatever into these and not worry about them retaining stains or odors. Buying these Pyrex sets was a bit of an investment, but now that we're being told you should replace plastic every few years since it breaks down with use, heat, etc., I figure I will make up the cost in the long run. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Great product, maybe safer", We decided to replace our plastic containers because of rumors that heating them in the microwave could release some chemicals on the food. Don't really know if it's true, but just in case, we got rid of them. These containers are heavier than the plastic ones, of course, but they are sturdy, durable and very good looking. We are very happy with them. "Pyrex Storage 18 piece set", These are a good alternative to those people who worry about food residue getting stuck in the plastic containers that is microwaved (toxic?). "Great product!", I didn't want to write the review after just receiving the set even though I was impressed how tight the covers fit the bowls. I've been using the set for about a half a year now. I like the set very much. I bought it mostly because I give my kids lunches to the day care and didn't want the food to be heated in the plastic containers anymore. My husband and I take lunches to work and love the class containers much more than plastic ones. Pros: 1. no food stains on the sides - still look like new 6 month later. 2. no chemical reaction with food - if you don't use the lids while microwaving 3. could be used as storage and freezer containers 4. keeps the food warm for some time if you place just made meal into the container and cover with the lid. Cons: heavier than plastic "great product", This is a great product. Be careful of the other reviews which talk about packaging of the shipment! I love these! you won't be dissapointed! "nice storage bowls but wrong size information", very satisfied with the quality of the containers and have purchased 14-piece set before getting this 18-piece set. Be careful with an error on the size information on the Amazon web site: in stead of the three 3-cup storage bowls, the 18-piece set contains three 2-cup ones, which is much less useful. ![]() |
