Others say...
"Great, fun to use machine" I am new to tea, and mostly drink herbal teas (Love me my peppermint!), so I am no expert. This machine is quite the neat item. I am addicted to kitchen gadgets, and own an nespresso machine for espresso drinks, a Keurig machine for coffee, and now this machine for tea. It is a clean, quiet operating machine that is very well-designed. The packaging is fantastic and evokes a feeling of quality as soon as you open the box. I just wish the machine had a beeper when finished, as that would help as I probably won't stand there and watch it brew every time (Although I did the first time I brewed it, because I'm curious). I love the cups and teapot that are included, it's just an overall well-designed, solid feeling machine that brews a great tasting cup of tea (to me at least) "Love the tea" Having only used tea bags for my tea, and pouring boiling water over it, my tea sometimes was good and other times, well, I poured it down the sink drain. Since I received my new Tea Maker, I am using loose tea, and it is always delicious. I am sure it is also more nutricious, too. It is one of the best investments I have made in a long time. Note also: it is pretty on my counter. "Good tea - what kind of plastic though?" I have the Zarafina Tea Suite and do enjoy my daily green tea. However, with all the growing concern regarding plastics, I decided to initially email the company and ask about this. Three times. I never got an answer to my email. I decided to call instead, and was told that it's 'propriatory information', but that the plastic follows all FDA guidelines and there should be no concern. Now, I am questioning how healthy my green tea is if it comes along with some plastic contaminants! The fact that they won't disclose the type of plastic it's made out of, has me concerned. Maybe I'm just over-reacting? You decide - just wanted to throw this out there for consideration. "A great idea, pretty good tea, but a little short of ideal" I bought this with the intention of simplifying the process of making a good cup of green tea. It does in fact simplify the process, but sacrifices some quality in doing so. You choose your brewing time based on the type and strength of tea, and you are pretty much not allowed to "tweak" it at all, so what you get is what you get. I have tried all of the different types of tea so far, and my assessment of each cycle is the same: very conveneient, but you lose a smidge of quality in not doing it yourself. The product works pretty well, and is exceptionally solid. This is not a chintzy piece of equipment at all. Very well made, nice heavy pieces. The unit itself is quite small, so great for tight spaces. I also think that 16 ounces isn't much of a pot of tea, and wish that it made more at a time. It is simple to fill it back up for another round, however. All in all, if you want good tea, want to simplify the process, and like fun gadgets, go for this. If you normally heat up a cup of water in the microwave and dunk a Lipton teabag in it, then save your money and keep doing that. "ZARAFINA TEA MAKER" Zarafina Tea Maker Suite THIS IS TRUELY A REMARKABLE, WELL MADE, UNIQUE AND HIGH TECH MACHINE! I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT'S PERFORMANCE.

What our customer's say! "Purchased for my office", This item works well and makes great tea. I keep it in my office to brew tea daily while I'm working and it makes tea making easy and enjoyable. I love that it has settings for various types of loose teas, which allows me to put some silver needles in the loose tea container, move the dial to white tea, and forget about until later when I come back to pour a cup of perfect tasting tea. "A very well made quality product.", So far I have been very impressed with the Zarafina tea maker. I thought it might be difficult to clean after use, but was pleasantly surprised that it is easy to keep clean. Requires a little bit of experimentation with green tea. I recomend brewing green tea on mild strength for the first infusion which steeps for 3 minutes at 170 degrees. The second infusion works well on medium strength. Some green teas should not be made in the Zarafina because of shorter steeping times required than the Zarafina can offer. LuShan Clouds and Mist green tea is one that should not be made in the Zarafina. If you drink the recommended 4 to 5 cups a day of tea for anti-oxidant benefits then the Zarafina is for you. It makes a consistent good quality brew without the hassle. It is also fun to watch the tea being brewed through the ingenious clear steeping chamber. "Good with reservations", I got this tea maker for Christmas and have loved it, making 3-8 pots of tea a day. It's even good for green tea, despite some other reviews--the key is to brew green tea on regular or weak strength and to use only the amount of tea the instruction booklet recommends. That said, I am on my 4th tea maker since December. The first 3 worked wonderfully for weeks then the basket would not sink at the right time or at all. This time, the tea maker just stopped dispensing. Customer service is great, friendly and helpful, but I'm sure that I will need replacements past the 1-year warranty. If you are a total tea addict, it's the best tea maker around. But be ready to use your warranty repeatedly and to struggle until the replacement arrives. "Great---until you're on your third one", This was an excellent way to take tea at any time during the day but now my warranty is up and I can't have my FOURTH zarafina teamaker replaced. All three of my zarafina machines have taken similar routes: 1) Starts to leak (I don't know WHERE it comes from but I do know I have to bring the tray to the sink every 3 brews or so because my teapot is SWIMMING) 2) Tea won't dispense (no idea why...but after a certain point the machine simply decides it wants you to do the grunt work) 3) Will not switch on (usually this is remedied by plugging in the machine again...but still) In sum, I paid almost $200 directly through the company to get one of these, and the machine is perfect until about 6 months after use. I gave it a good run, I mean, if my warranty was still valid, I would have owned four of these machines consecutively. I suppose I need to move on to the next tea maker---problem is, not many of these are on the market (which probably explains the price of this one) but at any rate I think anything that costs $200 should last longer than 6 months. Or maybe I'm just a stickler for quality. "Wonderful Gift for the tea lover....", Zarafina Tea Maker Suite with Ceramic Tea Pots, Cups, and Serving Tray Gave this as a gift and my daughter-in-law LOVES it. ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "I'm a little teapot... fan!", A friend has had this for a few months and raved about it. When she found out I have been drinking regular grocery store teas for years she told me I was crazy for at least not getting "good" loose tea. When I saw how much the Zarafina was I decided I like my cheap tea bags in the microwave just fine, thank you very much! Well, long story short, I happened to catch one on sale at a local store and paid less than half price for it. I must say I have been educated! This tea is MUCH better than what I was brewing before. The ONLY reasons I don't give this 5 stars... First, 16 oz of tea at a time isn't enough! I want to be able to at least fill my 20 oz travel mug. Second, I wish there was some sort of warming element that would keep the tea warm in the pot if I don't get to it right away. Neither of these "issues" would prevent me from recommending the Zarafina though. If you love tea, get one! "Wonderful Tea Maker With One Reservation", I bought this teamaker for myself for xmas. So far I love it. However, I found the green tea to be too bitter also, so I use the mild setting which seems to have helped when brewing Sencha green tea. Because of the lenghthy brewing time, using Gyokuro is not possible given it's 30 second brewing time. The one problem I have with the machine is that after brewing a black tea or an herbal, I need to run it through a cleaning cycle -- brew without any tea, just water -- so the residual black tea or herbal doesn't contaminate my white or green tea. It's not as bad when there is a residual taste of herbal because it lends a nice flavor to my green or white tea. Otherwise, I'm a happy customer and have recommended this product to many friends and relatives. "Tea making with ease", I absolutely love my tea Zarafina. It's great to find a tea maker that actually has different setting for different teas like it should be. It's super easy to use - and perfect for one person (a larger model would be nice for some - but tea brewing is best in small batches). The instructions are simple and it's pretty quite over all (although as mention in other reviews a alarm that it's done would be nice) I drink a wide variety of teas and this machine makes it so simple. Over all it does what it states and makes it easy to brew a wide variety of teas. It's perfect for a tea lover. Adjustable settings are a plus. The machine is easy to clean and simple to use. Loose and Bagged teas are both usable. I love the setting for brewing strength since I tend to like most of my teas on the stronger side. On the downside of things - it is on the high end of the price scale. For some the tea pot maybe smaller than desired. But that's about it. "Best way to make tea", This is a superb product that I bought for my husband. He loves specialty teas and this is the best way to brew them. Fact, efficient and wonderful. The water heats to the correct temperature of the type of tea being brewed. Then the basket drops into the water and steeps for the appropriate amount of minutes. Much better than just heating up water in a microwave or on the stove. You really can taste the difference. Easy to clean also. The only thing I would add is a warming tray for the tea pot. "It's good but not for green tea", I bought this for my wife. She loves tea and enjoys using the tea maker. However, she had problems getting green tea to brew and not be terribly biter. After several days of experimenting she got frustrated and contacted the manufacturer. They responded quickly and politely but their answer was not expected. It turns out there are really only 2 settings (even though there are 5 types of tea represented on the switch) one setting for temperature and steeping time for green and white tea and another setting for the other three. Please note this applies to loose tea - I'm not sure if its also true for bagged teas, etc. Bottom-line real green teas taste best with short steeping times (like 30 seconds up to 2 minutes) but the tea maker steeps for 8 minutes - making a biter brew. Also some teas have different temperature requirements her experiments seem to show this doesn't make as big a difference in the final taste though. On the other hand, using the tea maker, she makes and enjoys many black and herbal teas. ![]() |
