"VERY GOOD VACUUM FOR THE MONEY"
This vacuum is well worth the $200 I paid for it. I lucked out on the price, I know they usually sell for more. It has terrific suction, both as an upright and with the wand and attatchments. I have used it on carpet and tile and wood flooring. Excellent pickup, with no spitting out of particles on hard surfaces. Even my Dyson has a bit of a problem with hard surfaces. It actually has suction on the sides, which so many claim to have and do not. The beater brush can be turned on and off with a switch right on the handle. To empty the canister it requires 2 hands, where the dyson only takes one. Still empties very easily once you get the hang of it. Love the lower profile, it fits under my cabinets easily. It is not as easy to maneuver as the Dyson, but close. The attatchments are all on board and work WELL. I've had no tipping and leave the hose in the bottom clip as instructed. Even my Dyson has smacked into me when using the wand, when you pull and the wheels are aligned with you it will follow you. This is a great main floor vacuum. I no longer have to lug my Dyson up and down the steps! I shudder to think of taking this one up and down. It is heavier then my other one, but seems built to last! I prefer self adjusting height, but isn't a huge deal to bend down and change the height setting manually. 5 year limited warranty is great. It is truly a fantastic vacuum. My one and only complaint is the fact that the hepa has to be changed 2x a year. Otherwise, wow.

"The Best Vacuum i've owned or tried"
This is by far the best vacuum I've owned! This vacuum is replacing the Hoover wind tunnel 2 bagless; one of the worst electrical devices I've ever owned. After its self-cleaning HEPA filter clogging and quit working for the fourth time, it went in the recycling bin and I immediately went and picked up the Hoover healthy home based on the reviews I read here.
It's cleaning a second to none in its powered turbo brush actually works! Assembly is a snap and yes, emptying can be tricky, however if one removes the top it's not a problem. The little trapdoor is pretty useless unless it contains dirt and other heavy material but if it contains pet hair and carpet fibers forget about it. The brush motor is quite powerful and I really like the ability to turn the brush on and off with the push of a button. All of its onboard tools fit securely and are quite functional too.
I've read that some people have complained about its lack of suction. The extension hose must be securely inserted into its holding socket. If not, there will be no or little suction at the brush head. Also clearing any clogs in a hose is quite easy as well.
Honestly, I don't think you can get a better vacuum for the money; or for even more. I'll take this over the Dyson any day.

"Best Vacuum Cleaner"
I received this vacuum cleaner as a wedding present and I love it. My husband and I have two small dogs one of which has very long thick hair which sheds a lot. When I vacuum the Bissell gets up a TON of his hair. Some people have said that they found the vacuum to be too heavy. I'm a slim girl and not particulary strong and I don't think it was hard to manage at all. I love the Hepa filter and the Microban technology as well. Plus the vacuum cleaner is not incredibly loud which is nice since we are living in an apartment and don't want to annoy our neighbors! I would highly recommend this product.

"Way to HEAVY"
I purchased this unit after reading the great reviews even though some did mention how heavy this unit was. After trying it out I realized there was no way I could push this around without damaging all of my base boards in my house. I sent it back. Thanks Amazon for your great return process.

"Impressed With The Healthy Home Vacuum"
I'm blown away that this vacuum received 17 one star reviews. Just goes to show that some people were born to complain about everything. I had a Hoover Windtunnel bagless for the last six years, which was a great vacuum. Very strong motor and great performance. I became intrigued with the Dyson clones that began popping up after the patent wore off. The first model, the Infinity Deluxe, had too many problems with the thermal sensor shutting the unit down, so I decided to sway away from it. After talking to a manager at Bed Bath & Beyond, I decided to go with the Bissell Healthy Home for $199 with the 20% off mailers they send out. Excellent choice. I immediately noticed a significantly better suction than I ever experienced with the Hoover. After attaching the turbo brush, the roller inside it began spinning with the same amount of force as the powered brush in the main unit. Very easy to dump the contents (in an outdoor trash can) and a few taps on its side to completely clear it out.

Some reviewers knock the unit for being "too heavy". All I can say is that with everything else nowadays becoming cheaply built and lightweight, I appreciate a product with some weight behind it. It's still perfectly manageable to me and has a feeling of durability behind it.

I like the fact that the brush automatically stops spinning when the unit is in the upright position, because this allows me to do my dusting without having to raise the brush to the maximum height setting first. The dual purpose brushes are a nice touch as well.

Some reviewers have knocked the unit for tipping over while using the hose and attachments. I'm fairly certain that they didn't read and/or follow the directions to leave the hose looped around the lowest hose hook, which moves the center of gravity downward significantly and prevents tipping. You lose about a foot of extension by doing so, but for those concerned about tipping the unit over, that should be of little concern.

One rule of thumb EVERYONE needs to apply to any vacuum they purchase is to keep the filters and debris collection bin clean at all times. When any vacuum is first purchased and powered on, that is about the last time that you're dealing with 100% suction. Every minute particle that is vacuumed up diminishes the suction by at least some small percentage. That's why I make it a rule to clean out the collection bin after every vacuuming session and periodically clean the extraneous filters and let them dry thoroughly. This is the way I handled my Hoover Windtunnel Bagless, and it worked so well I never had to buy a single replacement filter in the six years I owned it even with weekly vacuumings. I also got maximum suction out of it by minimizing any obstructions within the flow path.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the Bissell Healthy Home. The suction is so great that it's actually lifting my berber carpet up as I've never seen before. I can't even keep it at the "low carpet" level setting, or it's practically hard to push along with the strong suction it creates. I'd definitely recommend this vacuum to anyone but the weakest of the weak that might have a problem pushing anything with some weight behind it.

What our customer's say!

"Five Stars!", WOW! This vacuum is like no other. My family tends to be a hard on vacuums and we usually have to buy a new one every year. I usually buy one of the $99 dollar models that are on sale. This time I decided to be not so cheap and I'm so very glad I did, this vacuum is worth every cent I paid for it.

The Bissell Healthy Home vacuum has excellent suction and just as some of the other reviewers have stated, it actually fluffs up the carpet. My bedroom has carpet in it that is 25 years old....I didn't think it would ever "fluff up" again, but it did!

This vacuum doesn't leave that nasty odor in the air after using it, just a nice pleasant smell...that's the way it should be!

It's the quietest vacuum I have ever heard. Emptying the dirt canister is a breeze.

Yes, this vacuum is slightly heavy, but who doesn't need a little more exercise in their life? It really isn't that bad. And to the mothers who have complained that this vacuum falls over easy and has fallen on their toddlers...vacuums aren't playgrounds, your vacuum wasn't made for your child to crawl all over it.

I love the fact that the rotating brush stops when the handle is placed in the upright position. For those of you who don't know...if you vacuum's rotating brush continues to spin when you are just letting it sit there while you use the hose attachment...that is damaging your carpet! So this is an excellent feature.

This vacuum deserves no less then five stars!

"Great but eating up my carpet.. Anyone else?", I think this vacuum is wonderful. It picks up all the stuff you didn't realize was there but it is taking my carpet. I have it on the highest setting even. Now do carpet fibers look like fuss in the shape of carpet? Stupid question I know but I need to know so I don't ruin my carpet. Thanks for any advice.
But all n all this is a great vacuum.

"GREAT vacuum, but HEAVY!", We bought this vacuum because it was cheaper than a Dyson, and got really good reviews. It cleans REALLY well. I cannot get over how well actually. And I LOVE that the cord is so long I can plug it into one room (central) and do every room on the same level of the house without ever having to unplug it. I like the rubber edging, great for banging it into corners and walls. lol My only complaints with it are that it is extremely heavy, and it didn't come with a crevice tool. The replacement filters are also a little pricey.

"Really Great Value", After owning many different $60-$80 vacuums, this Bissell is really great in terms of cleaning power. It can also be used on bare floors, but is, in my opinion, optimized for carpet. I actually like the heavy weight, because it grips the carpet firmly. I vacuum almost daily with it because I have a lot of long-haired cats, and it takes about 2-3 cleanings of my 1000 square foot apartment to fill the canister.

The canister is the only drawback, and the reason I give this vac four stars instead of five. The canister is widest in the middle, with a smaller opening at the bottom to empty the dirt. In order to shake the stuff out, I have to get a clean trash bag, put the canister inside, and tightly wrap the bag opening around the middle of the canister. Sometimes I have to shake like heck to get everything out! For this reason, I wouldn't recommend this vac for anyone that doesn't have some good, strong arms.

The attachments are good -- especially the turbo brush. I use it in tight corners, on the sofas, and to clean my carpeted cat tree. Works great!

If Bissell would fix the canister, this would be a fantastic vacuum and one of the best values!

"best one I ever used!", I love this vacuum, and the truth is, I don't think it's all that heavy. It is certainly lighter than the Dirt Devil I used previously. I got lucky and found a display model, already put together but no box/manual for $150. I rolled it right out of the store and downloaded the manual from Bissell.

WOW - the suction is amazing. You've got to be careful until you get used to it, because it will suck up more than you expect it to. I have several thin decorative rugs and never had a problem with any other vac - but with this one I had to use the little turbo tool. The suction was so good the vacuume would not move on the them. And I stuck the hose down into the intestines of my dryer and I've cut half an hour off the drying time of each load (I did this all the time with my other vac - with minimal results)

It's quiet. I mean, it's still a vacuume cleaner, and still makes noise, but relatively speaking the thing is quiet. I can hear the phone ring. I can listen to the radio. My dogs don't run and hide. Love it.

Speaking of the dogs, my upholstery has a new lease on life. I'd forgotten how much I liked my couch. I have a black dog and a white dog. The furniture had a thin film of hair that you couldn't really see, but it muted the colors. The only way to remove it before this machine was to take a damp rag and go over and over with a circular motion. (Needless to say I did not do it as often as I should) Anyway, the hair is gone. The turbo tool got it right up.

Like I said, all the reviews say that this machine is heavy. It really doesn't feel all that heavy to me. I tote around bags of dog food, water softener salt, etc, and I carry 50lb boxes at work all the time, so this machine truthfully felt pretty light to me. Hey, I'm 54 years old and just over 5 feet tall, so I'm no amazon, but this vacume felt lighter than my old one, and the power is worth the weight.

Cord is super long, I can do huge areas without having to move the cord. And the hose is a good length, no problem getting to ceiling areas, or under furnishings. I like the fact that the hose is see-through. If it does ever clog then I'll be able to see it and free it.

And the best part....(drum roll, please)...Lifetime belt. Hooray. I HATE vacuume cleaner belts. Get out the screw drivers, sit on the floor, get all dusty, struggle with pulling the roller back into place, etc. etc. (or worse yet, you can't find the spare belt you are sure you remembered to purchase, so you gotta go to the store and then they're out of your size and you spend half the day running around and your floors are still dirty) I'm estatic.

When I first plugged it in I though it was broken because the beater wasn't going around. I then discovered that it only activates when the handle is down. What a plus! I can use the attachments without having to deactivate the beater, it doesn't wear holes in the carpet or chew up the cord. A real safety/ease of use feature for careless/lazy people like me.

I only have two carpeted rooms. We like hardwood. This is the best for hard floors. It actually vacuumes. Most machines just throw the stuff around. With this one the dust/dirt/debris wind up in the machine and not in the far corners of the room. I used to have to go over the entire room with hand tools. (Or, lets be honest, use a broom to sweep it into a pile then such up the pile with hand tools). Now, with this Bissell, I can really vacuume my rooms. I've saved a lot of time and work with this cleaner.

My friend bought a Dyson. I get a much better deal.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Best vacuum I've ever owned", I have 4 big dogs (indoor dogs) and 10 indoor cats so needless to say I need a great vacuum. I've had the $400.00 Sears uprights and canisters, Hoover, Kenmore, etc. and I'm sick of having parts that keep breaking. I personally love the bagless vacuums. Some people hate them because they hate to empty them, they say that the dust goes all over the place. I have not found that to be true. Believe me, I have vacuumed up a lot of dust and animal fur..... When I empty the canister, I just empty it into my trash can in my garage...no problem.
I can't believe how much suction you get with this vacuum!!! I would recommend this vacuum to all my friends.

"very good with flaws", The vacuum cleans very well and with that I am very pleased.

The vacuum does have the problem of stability (not only with but especially with usage of the hose attachment). To empty the dirt collector and to avoid using one's hand an appliance is needed; I use a bambo stick. If the vacuum shorts out occasionally it's probably the initial installation of the handle -- a frustrating experiance until one is knowlagable of the cause -- which is easily corrected by proper re-installation.

Having learned how to live with the vacuum's shortcomings it serves me quite well.

"A good buy for the money!", I bought this vacuum after owning an Electrolux for 12 years. I had had my heart set on getting a Dyson, but stumbled across the reviews for the Bissell. Boy, am I so glad I did! I have 5 children, a husband remodeling our basement, a cat and dog, and we live on a block that is being developed. Needless to say, lots and lots of dirt and dust gets into our house. I am so pleased with the job this vacuum does. It picks up an amazing amount of dirt and lint and pet hair. Yes, it is heavy, but, hey, the exercise doesn't hurt me. I wouldn't recommend this vacuum for an elderly person or for someone who needs to cart it up and down the stairs alot. But, it is definitely worth every penny it costs! It does a super job and I feel like my carpets are cleaner than ever before.

"1st day", I don't own a dyson. I don't need a dyson. I own this bissel. I bought it today for 200 large at Costco. It was planted right next to the 500 dollar Dyson. Would I have bought the dyson if they were the same price....dunno, there are a reason Ferrari's are more than Ford Fiesta's. But with vacuum's not the same case. This thing works phenomenally. Leaves your house smelling fresh, clean and more livable then ever before. I hope I'm saying the same thing about this vacuum in a year, but so far it's beyond amazing, and I'm extremely happy with this product.

"The best vacuum cleaner I've ever used!", This is the first vacuum I've owned that leaves no trace of scent behind in the air after vacuuming. The HEPA filtration system is fantastic. The HEPA filter (Model 3282) works great and I didn't even have to replace it for over a year which is much longer than the 6 months they recommend. I own the Bissell Healthy Home 6100 Vacuum and I can say it is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever purchase. I used to own Hoover products but they really went down hill as far as the quality of manufacturing goes along with many other problems. This thing works equal to the top Dyson or Kirby but at a fraction of the cost!
