"GREAT WAFFLES!"
I was reluctant to spend over 200 bucks for a waffle maker but the recent bad reviews on the Waring and the good reviews for this unit convinced me to spring for the extra scatch. I'm glad I did. This is a solid unit that makes 2 great waffles in about 3 to 3.5 minutes. This means that after a few minutes warm-up, you can make 6 waffles in about 10-12 minutes. We used a store bought Belgian waffle mix and they came out perfect. Crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. Clean-up was easy because of the good teflon coating. Just wipe with a damp paper towel. You don't need to oil the griddles. In fact, Kitchen Aid directions say to not oil it because an oil residue can build up. The only negative I have with this unit is that it is big and heavy but I guess thats what makes it a great waffle maker so I'll live with it.

"Awesome Waffles!"
Anyone who has tried these waffles say they are the best ever. I have used Krusteaz pancake/waffle mix for years and do so with this wafflemaker. There is no comparison to the "former" waffles from an older high-end wafflemaker. These are thick, tasty, Belgian waffles. One waffle (will quarter) serves 1 hungry person for a BIG meal - lighter eaters probably will only eat 1/2 to 3/4 waffle. Have nothing to say but fantastic - and being able to make two waffles at a time is the best! You could easily serve 4-6 people at a time without folks having to wait.

"awesome waffle iron"
I Love this waffle iron! I can finally cook them fast enough to be able to join my family for breakfast instead of standing in the kitchen all morning!

"NOT THE BEST BY A LONG SHOT"
Pros:
Solid looking and impressive.
Makes two waffles at once.
Makes thick (1 1/4 inch) waffles.

Cons:
Slow to heat and cook.
No temperature adjustment - only cooking time can be adjusted.
Low fat and oil free batters will stick to the grids.
Cooks somewhat unevenly, as one side will brown more than the other.
Too tall to open on counters with cupboards above unless pulled forward to the front of the counter, so it consumes a lot of counter space.
Heavy to lift and move.
Knob on front sticks out and can easily be knocked off.
Reliability - mine died after a short period.

I eat waffles almost everyday and decided to upgrade to this unit. What a disappointment. I also tried the Chef's Choice WafflePro M850 which I assumed would be inferior - it's not. The WafflePro has 1750 watts versus the KitchenAid's 1400 watts and the ability to adjust both time and temperature, providing considerably more texture and taste flexibility than the KitchenAid. The WafflePro is also much faster, although it will cook only one 8 1/2 inch square waffle versus the KitchenAid's two 7 1/2 inch round waffles at one time. But since it cooks more than twice as fast, you can actually produce more waffle "product" in a given time period with the WafflePro M850 than with the KitchenAid. The WafflePro also has better non-stick grids which will accept low fat and oil free batters without sticking, a plus for calorie counting waffle lovers such as myself.

When my KitchenAid died I was actually relieved to have a reason to return it for a refund since I was surprisingly disappointed in its performance.

What our customer's say!

"The Best Waffle Maker!", Best product worth every penny spent on it. So easy to use, and makes the waffles perfect everytime.

"Great waffle maker", I read several reviews about this before I bought it and realized several were over a year old. This isn't a precision piece of equipment, it is a waffle maker. With that said, it makes great waffles, two at a time, to your liking with some adjustment, and they are huge, plate sized. It is easy to break one and half and feed two people. I recommend this if you want to be able to make great waffles for a crowd quick.

"Used once, then broke.", When I took my Kitchenaid waffle maker out of the box, I noticed immediately how heavy and "durable" it felt. I read the instructions, turned it on, and started using the waffle maker. It made big, fluffy waffles. I was very happy. The next time I used it, about a month later, the unit would not turn on. I checked my power cord (even plugged in my Vitamix blender to see if I had blown a circuit) and everything looked fine. My batter was ready, but the unit would not turn on. It was really frustrating, especially since my sister was visiting from Montreal and I had told her what great waffles this machine made. [...]

"very good quality waffle iron", this waffle iron has all the features you need.
Timer
ready light
dual sided

What I can't understand is why this waffle maker makes better waffles than all the previous models we have had. We use the same recipe but the waffles out of this machine turn out noticeably superior. we have had no problems with this waffle maker and it appears to be very well-built. This waffle maker is much heavier than its competitors.

"Wonderful", This waffle iron actually does make two waffles in 3.5 minutes. The batter works best if it is a bit thicker than normal, one then immediately flips the iron and sets the timer. I found it works best if one waits 2 minutes before adding the second waffle. Once the second waffle is added, immediately flip it, placing the first waffle on top. When the timer sounds, take the first waffle out, add more batter, restart the timer and flip it. When 1.5 minutes have passed remove the second waffle, add more batter and immediately flip it. The key seems to be to immediately flip the machine once the batter is poured.

I used a buttermilk (not low-fat), Bisquick, oil and 2 egg mixture in a two-quart mixing bowl.

So far I've had two waffle parties (20 people at the first and 5 at the second). This machine produced the waffles as fast as they could eat them. From the first waffle on they were perfect. It is truly an amazing product.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Best Waffle Iron We've Ever Owned", After 12 years and 3 other waffle irons we have finally found waffle bliss. With four growing kids at home, the ability to cook two waffles at the same time really makes a difference. Once we dialed in the timer our waffles now come out perfect every time. Clean up is quick and easy with a wet towel. Heavy duty construction reminds me of the Kitchen-Aid mixer we have had for many years and still works flawlessly. My mother has used the same mixer for almost 25 years. I expect his waffle iron to perform the same. There is not a better waffle iron on the market today!

"Who knew it could be so easy to make waffles like a pro?", I've never been one to order waffles for breakfast, but my husband had asked me several times over the years if "I" would like to have a waffle iron (which meant he wanted me to make waffles for him). A few years ago I bought a small, inexpensive waffle iron, and he was disappointed to see it was just a "regular" waffle maker, and not a belgian waffle maker. So, I returned it without even taking it out of the box. When he started asking me about a waffle maker again this past Christmas, I decided to do some research. I was more than a little hesitant to spend $200 on an appliance that makes one thing, but the reviews on Amazon convinced me I would not be sorry if I purchased the KitchenAid Pro Line Waffle Baker.

I am now a belgian waffle lover! This waffle baker is so simple that my children could easily make waffles for the family. Just press the power button, mix the batter while waiting for the baker to heat up, pour about 1 c. in the first side, flip, fill the second side, flip, hit the timer (ours is set at 3 min 30 sec), and voila! Perfect waffles every time -- lightly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- with no sticking! My son had a friend sleep over last night, so I made waffles this morning. When the friend saw the waffle on his plate he said, "This isn't homemade!" They look & taste perfect every time! We've had this waffle maker for less than two weeks, but have already made waffles about five times. I use a damp paper towel to wipe out any small crumbs that may be left inside after it has cooled down.

The HEB Central Market grocery in our area sells both the Carbon's Golden Malted and Stonewall Kitchen mixes for about $5-6 for a 16oz can, so we tried both. They are very comparable, but we have a slight preference for the Carbon's, so I ordered a 3-pack of the 33-oz cans from Amazon for just $16.

My past experience with KitchenAid customer service leads me to believe that if we have a problem with this waffle baker, they will take care of it quickly. We have a KitchenAid toaster oven that stopped working just short of the 1-year warranty. I called the 800 number and within about a week, they sent me a brand new one & had UPS pick up the old one, all at no cost to me. We are very happy with this waffle maker, and look forward to enjoying it for many years to come.

"Great small appliance", I ordered this after using a commercial-type waffle baker at a hotel's breakfast bar and seeing the almost unanimously great reviews on Amazon. After using it a few times, I agree with them. It is very easy to use and makes fantastic waffles. It seems very solidly built, like you come to expect in a KitchenAid product. We have been making a batch and freezing the extras for my son to eat later. If only it also mixed the batter!

"Fabulous waffle maker.", I just got this waffle iron this week. It is great. It is stainless outside and cast iron iside so very sturdy and substantial looking. It is heavy and looks really durable. But ultimately, doe it make good waffles? Absolutely! The waffles are large, crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. You don't have to guess when the waffle is done because of the timer function. Perfect every time. Our family has always made waffles. Frozen kinds taste like cardboard, we can't eat it. This waffle iron makes it so easy to make perfect waffles.

"Great product!", This waffle baker is an outstanding product. It is built like a tank, has logical controls and looks very impressive. After a few times even your kids will be able to make a perfect waffle. Good job KitchenAid!!!
