Others say...
"I love it!" I've had this coffee maker for about a year and love it. The coffee is so good when it's freshly ground every morning. It would be nice if it were a little quieter but I think it makes great coffee. I will buy the same kind if something went wrong with this one. "died after 2 years" Like the similar model with the stainless steel carafe, this coffee maker has some serious issues: * you can't see how much water you put in * the grinding piece gets full of steam so the grounds get caked on * lots of pieces that must be cleaned every time But, more seriously for us, is that it has now periodically stopped grinding, so sometimes we wake up to warm water in the carafe (no coffee!) We have had it for just over two years, so maybe we shouldn't expect much more. But I would think it would last for longer than it has (my simple grinder is many years old). I'm going to buy the Melitta MEMB1B Mill & Brew which is much cheaper and seems to have gotten really good reviews. "Thanks for your reviews" Thanks to all of the reviews, positive and negative, I have had a wonderful experience with this coffeemaker. I used Natural Brew 8-12 cup paper filters, and there was no problem with the grounds going anywhere, the sides are stiff enough to stay in place. I needed to use heaping scoops of beans to have the perfect flavor. I use the carafe to fill the water, no problems. I program it to start grinding when my alarm goes off, and don't mind the sound at all. I have used it with beans and ground coffee, both were excellent. I do wish I could clean it prior to having to turn off the warmer, but that is minor. I am absolutely 100%pleased with this machine. "Cuisinart DGB-500" Just purchased this wonderful coffemaker. It's the best I have ever owned. I am so pleased with my purchase. The only complaint is that the warmer doesn't stay on long enough to keep the coffee hot for a longer time period. But, all in all, my coffee tastes just like a gourmet coffee bar cup of coffee. Thanks Amazon once again for always making me a satisfied customer. You state the facts and have never failed me. Very happy coffee lover, Terri East TN "Surprinsigly Tasty" I ordered the DGB-500BKFR to be used as a secondary coffee pot. Much to my surprise and satisfaction, I now use it for my regular morning coffee. The quality of coffee it produces is delicious. The only problem (one that I am willing to live with) is the cleaning process. The grinding compartment becomes very soiled after use but I am willing to live with this because the resulting brew is outstanding.

What our customer's say! "Smart, convenient coffee maker", As home coffee makers go, this one is pretty slick. The interface is dead-easy and the output is pretty tasty. On top of that, the time-delay automatic grind & brew feature is a dream. A minor quibble: the grinder is kind of noisy at first -- like holding a DustBuster directly to your ear -- but it quiets down quickly and the grind time is pretty short. Overall, it's been a welcome addition to my kitchen. "so far, so good... ", have had this a couple of weeks now. No issues, works fine. I would prefer the grinder grind a bit more fine for deeper flavor, but for the price ($35) you can't beat it. I was a Cuisinart sales rep when the first Grind and Brews came out... this one is SO MUCH BETTER... and quieter. Yes, cleaning it up each time can be a pain, but it works great in the top rack of the dishwasher. Time will tell if this purchase is as good a value as I hope it will be. "Good Coffee but Some Issues with the Grinder ", I've had this unit for two or three years. I've just ordered a new coffee maker and expect it's delivery within a few days, so this machine's days are numbered at my house. I thought I'd add a review as someone who has worn one of these things out. I had never had a grind and brew type machine before this one. From my experiences with this one, I do not want another. I found that the clean up is more trouble than fresh beans are worth. I would have used it on an occasional basis, but because water got into the grinding mechanism, sometimes from me being sloppy, but mostly from steam inside the unit settling everywhere inside, the grinder stopped working. I haven't used the grinder for more than two years. It still makes the big noise like it's trying to work, but the message does not get to the blades in the grinder. Sometimes these days, the grinder goes off in the middle of the night, which can be a little alarming for the humans and cats around here. Maybe I have a poltergest, but I suspect it is just another sign of the machine wearing out. I've also noticed in recent months, that the latch on the mechanism that holds the filter basket in place sometimes gives out, and pops open, leaving me with a mess on the counter to clean up and not a whole lot to drink. I think that may have something to do with the changing temperature of the plastic during brewing time making the basket pop open as I have witnessed it popping open during a brew more than once. And I'm very careful to close it properly, darn it! So, this unit has developed too many bad habits and I'm replacing it with . . . another Cuisinart. It's a Cuisinart DCC-2200 Brew Central 14-Cup Coffeemaker and I purchased it here from Amazon. I think this coffee maker worked well in that I was satisfied with the coffee it made, I just don't think the design for the grinder is very well thought out. The new unit I have ordered does not have a grinder included. I had considered the Kitchenaid pro line instead, but decided to get another Cuisiart when I saw that the Kitchenaid does not have a "pause and pour" feature. That's a must have feature for me. I definately want a timer too, which my new one has. The other thing that I wanted in a new coffee pot was that it not be white. My soon-to-be-ex coffee pot is white, and it's a bear to keep it looking clean. I've bleached the carafe lid many times, but it's permanently stained and not very pretty. Black coffee pots don't show the staining around the heat element and the staining on the carafe as much. I don't care if it's still there if I can't see it from across the room, y'know? I think the Cuisinart brand makes very good coffee makers, but the design of the grinder on the Grind and Brew I'd give a 1 star review to. Since I've been relatively happy with the rest of the function of the unit, I've bumped that up to a 3 out of 5. "very satisfied", I had the 10cup grind and brew before and enjoyed it. When it came time for a new coffee maker I wanted to stay in the same family. I bought this one and am completely satisfied. I like it better than my original grind and brew!!! "So far, so good...", I have had this coffeemaker for a few weeks now, and can't really complain. The cleanup is not that bad, as I was used to rinsing the coffeemaker parts of my last one out. You would have to be pretty lazy or really extremely pushed for time for this to bother you...but if you don't like cleaning all that, then why would someone buy a grinder version anyways?? You can also make coffee in this using already ground coffee, and then it is like any other coffee maker. I do like that it makes good HOT coffee when making a large pot, and keeps it hot for awhile. I like the auto shut off feature, because I had a bad habit before of not turning off the warmer on my last one. I have never owned a 12 cup unit, so this is also a nice feature for when there are guests over. Swiped this one for a steal from this site the day before it went back up to $70 (which is still a good price for this unit). Overall, my husband and I are very pleased with this purchase! ![]()
Read this reviews before You buy... "Why buy brand new?", Bought a brand new one a few years ago. Paid $100. When it finally died, I replaced it with this refurbished one at a third of the price. Such a deal! "Great Coffeemaker", We have this coffeemaker and have had it for a year or more. We use it several times a day. It makes great coffee. We use Starbucks French Roast and the coffee is _very_ strong, the way we like it. You will have problems if you use too much coffee. Don't use more than 1 level scoop of beans for each 2 cups. Be sure to rinse out and dry the bean container before adding more beans. Also make sure that the filter is properly set, with the paper filter around the edges of the filter container, not flaring away from it. It is a great coffeemaker if you follow the above guidelines. I'm going to buy another, at this great price, so I'll have a spare to use in the future. "Weak coffee", There are a lot of parts to disassemble and clean with every use, but my main complaint is that it seems to use coffee very inefficiently. I have to put in 10 or 12 measures of beans to get six cups of coffee (which translates to a little over three mugs). It won't hold any more beans than that, so if I'm making coffee for a group I have to hope they like it weaker than I do. Mechanically, it's a remarkable contraption, though. It makes a lot of noise and the kids like watching it. "works well", read a review saying makes weak coffee. this might be very true for the star bucks coffee lovers. Well I got my coffee maker this afternoon. My first pot was only 4 cups and I followed the directions and added the amount of beans to what they say. plus maybe a scoop extra. the pot was terrible, very week. So I made another pot 9.5 cups. Not measuring, I filled the bean basket all the way to the fill line and then added a little more, maybe 3 scoops. Excellent tasting coffee. smooth and great flavor, maybe a little strong, but I'm very pleased. As for the noise people write about, It a coffee grinder. It sounds like a coffee grinder. And the condition, like new. All removeable part, coffee pot , grinder, basket, ect., all new "Went right in and out", I was excited to get my new coffeemaker ready for the next morning until I poured in enough water for 4-5 cups the next morning and the water went right through it onto the counter. I was leaking right out the bottom by the screw holes. I dried it off put it right back in the box and sent it back. Going to try another brand. ![]() |
