"Good value, makes pretty good coffee"
This coffeemaker has all the features my old Krups had, which cost more than twice as much 6 or 7 years ago. I haven't been using it that long so I can't speak to its durability. But I like the brew strength setting. The thermal carafe is better than the Krups's was; I just poured a cup that was nearly hot enough to drink as is, 12 hours after making it. The carafe's pouring characteristics could be improved; one other reviewer noted that it was difficult to fill the reservoir without spilling, and this is true. You have to tilt the pitcher to a very high angle to drain it out, making the pour take longer and more prone to spillage. The automatic settings are easy to use. And the coffee tastes pretty good. I brewed it a little stronger than suggested to get the taste I like.

"You Don't Want to Buy This Coffee Maker"
First the good:
--It looks nice sitting on your counter.
--The beeping sound to signify the end of the brewing cycle is nice.

Now the bad:
--You will never get anything but a warm cup of coffee out of this coffee maker. And if you add milk or cream to your coffee, the result is lukewarm at best. You will aways have to put your coffee in the microwave. This is true no matter how close you follow the directions, and no matter how creative you get. Even if you remove the carafe from the unit after the brewing cycle is completed, your coffee will only be warm. The instruction manual says to completely fill the carafe with very hot water and let it sit for 10 minutes before brewing in order to heat up the carafe. Okay, during the morning rush to get out to work, who has time to let their kitchen faucet run for a few minutes to get hot water (especially in the winter) and then wait for 10 minutes with the water in the carafe and then wait for the brewing cycle to end?
--The carafe is stainless steel - no glass lining (which is the best insulation material) Not sure who the genius is that thinks stainless steel is an insulator.
--The Pause-and-serve mechanism broke on the third day. I went to pull out the carafe to grab a cup and coffee came splashing down all over my hand.
--This isn't a huge deal but the clock is so bright I'm fairly certain it could serve as a beacon to guide large ships sailing past rocky coast lines.

"Weak and Warm"
For maybe 15 yrs I got by with the free 4-cup conical coffee maker I got as part of a Gevalia promo. When it conked out, I was looking forward to something a little more high-tech. However, the coffee comes out tasting a lot weaker than before with the Mr. Coffee which uses a more cylindrical filter. And the coffee that comes out, even when I pull it out the moment it's done, isn't hot enough! There is no heating element below on the thermal models to keep it warm, and a lot of the heat immediately dissipates into the metal container. But even when I just put my coffee mug underneath and bypass the thermal, it's still not hot enough.

Finally, the thermal container could've been designed better so that you have to just tilt it sideways (not upside down!) when you want to pour the last cup of coffee. Next time I'll spend a little extra to get something by krups, braun, etc.

"It was a gift....."
I bought this as a gift for my brother and sister in law. They are returning it because they told me that water well is very small - and it is hard to pour water into ... But they DID say that it is very stylish - and the clock has a light on it which serves as a nightlight for the kitchen. They love the look and style but because of the Water well being so small - they are going to return it for another model. They said it would be good for someone who does not make coffee on a regular basis.

"Coffee cool within 20 minutes"
We purchased this 6 weeks ago. Our coffee must be microwaved if brewed 20 minutes before drinking. They recommend warming carafe with hot water before brewing. However, if you use the carafe to pour in cool water for brewing you then need to fill the carafe with hot water and let it sit 10 minutes or so to heat carafe, pour out water and then start brewing - no thank you! Also that doesn't work at all if you want to delay brew. I called customer service and they said to try removing carafe from coffee maker after brewing. Apparently, if it sits on the plate ( which doesn't get warm) the top stays open allowing your coffee to cool. This is not mentioned in the instruction book. Total waste of money for our family.

What our customer's say!

"Good value", Other reviewers have complained that their coffee is lukewarm at best. They must have tastebuds of steel or something, as the first thing I noticed was that my coffee was HOTTER than it ever was in my old coffee maker. I left one mug's worth in the carafe for about 2 hours while I went to the gym, and it was adequately warm when I got back - even with cream in it. Of course it was not as hot as the first cup had been, but it was warm enough for me.

I have not yet tried the "strong" setting, but think it will provide the strength I prefer.

My only complaint is that the pour is slow out of the carafe. I find it more useful to just take the top off, particularly for the last cup.

Overall, well worth the money, IMO.

"Very pleased", We bought this Coffee Maker a month ago. We love it! The program feature is so easy to use...who needs the pause and serve function? It's already brewed when you get up! But if you should happen to wake early I guess the pause and serve would be handy. The descriptions on this pot mentions a warming plate it does not have one don't let that throw you. It has a Thermal Carafe, which is insulated to keep the Coffee warm without the warming plate (saves energy). I made 10 cups of Coffee at 7am and at 10pm that night there was about a 2 cups left in it that was still warm! We brew the full 10 cups everyday and it is plenty hot enough for me. However if my wife uses liquid creamer she says it's not hot enough and she has to nuke (microwave) her coffee. The water level indicators are easy to read. I have read that others have had trouble with filling the water tank (tip: Hold the handle at the bottom when filling the coffee maker). I have had no spillage but I do admit that you have to tilt the Carafe almost upside down to empty it. I don't find it difficult at all to fill the tank don't let that scare you away from this coffee maker. One other feature we like is the switch that allows you to shut OFF the coffee brewing complete alarm!! I have only one complaint about this and ALL coffee makers. A cup is not a cup!!! I have read and friends have told me that none of the coffee makers actually make coffee at a cup = 8 ounces. Be warned on page 10 of the manual it states that "1 cup = 5 fl. oz. of brewed coffee". Yes that's right in what country does that come from??? But ALL of them are doing it. As I understand it coffee makers will be from 4 to 6 oz. equals 1 cup depending on the manufacturer

For the technical people: I am guessing if you brew less coffee it may be cooler because it is less hot coffee containing less BTU's to heat the inside of the Carafe. So the full 10 cups containing more BTU's of heat is able to heat the Carafe better and stay warmer. So if you are only making a few cups the few cups are heating the entire stainless steel inner liner dropping the temperature of the coffee cooler than it would a full 10 cups.

"I recommend not to buying this product.", Pros:
- No heating element.
- Nice interface with brewing options.
- Coffee tasted great when it worked.

Cons:
- After three months, the water all it does is steams and doesn't brew.
- The clock doesn't work any longer because of all the steam.
- I actually used the clean option more then recommended, because my husband and I drink a lot of coffee. Note: We also use filter water.

I would not recommend this product. Save your money and find another coffee maker. We are currently looking for another one.

"Excellent Coffee Maker", What we like best:
- the Thermal Carafe!
- auto shut-off (120 minutes)
- water measure can be view from the front! we are short so having to look inside the coffee maker just to pour water was a hassle on our old machine.
- off switch for sound! Finally! I'm sick and tired of all the kitchen devices beeping!

Overall very please! We drink more coffee (larger mugs) and more often! We need the energy to keep up with our children.

Challenge: a couple of times we made coffee without first cleaning the carafe. We were very use to the visual or a clear glass carafe that you can easy see that it has some left over from last brew. Problem solved after a couple of accidents.

"love it!", this was a gift for my husband, we've had it for about 2 weeks. he tends to nurse a pot of coffee over several hours, so we thought this would be better than the conventional coffee makers. it doesn't have a warming plate, so we don't have to worry about leaving it "on" accidentally. the coffee doesn't burn after sitting there for a couple of hours. it also has a water filter insert. my husband is overjoyed, he has his hot coffee when he wants it and says it tastes better than our old coffee maker coffee. he loves the programmable coffee brewing feature as well.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Pretty good while it worked.", I had one of these for about 3 months before it died. I used it to make about 5 cups a day and after a while it just quit working. Aparently the element burned out from the low water levels I was using. Mr. Coffee customer service was great though, after an email I had a replacement in just a couple days. When it worked, the coffee was good once I adjusted recipes to match the machine. The water filter is a nice touch if a bit pricey for replacements and it seemed to be effective. One hint, use hot water to preheat the carafe and the coffee will stay warmer longer.
