"Fantastic way to easily brew a single cup of coffee" I have always loved French Press coffee, but it hard to carry a thin glass French Press around with you. Besides those French Presses leak lots of heat. This French Press mug is exactly what I wanted and it is a great, quality product. It makes fantastic coffee, is insulated and even has that neat bottom holder for spare coffee or tea for a second cup out in the world. It is easy to clean and fits nicely in our car cup holders. The only thing to watch out for is that the plunger is plastic (that's why 4 instead of 5 stars - I would have done 4.5 stars if that was an option). If it had been completely metal, it would be heavier and cost much more, so I understand why it is plastic, but it is possible to accidently bend back one of the plastic fingers. One of the two cups we ordered came with the plastic plunger already damaged. However, as soon as I told Liquid Planet, they had a replacement in the mail immediately and we got it 2 days later. Fantastic service from Liquid Planet. I imagine even if we had caused the damage, a replacement would be inexpensive and shipped out quickly. "Great Press" It makes great coffee and the ability to carry two extra shots of coffee in the base of the mug is awesome and even handier than I thought it would be! "Double shot double fine" I got this french press for a coffee expert friend for Christmas, he was very pleased and loved the fact that he can take an extra shot of coffee, reserved in the bottom of the cup, anywhere he goes. He liked the purple colour and thought it was very "him". "I would be LOST without this mug!" I bought Planetary Design's Double Shot Travel French Press Mug in January '07, while on vacation. I was staying with a friend who didn't have a coffee maker and well, I NEED my coffee. I picked my mug up at a local co-op and though the price seemed high, it has been worth twice as much. I have literally used my mug every day since then! The double filtration system really does keep the grains out of your mouth, especially if you rough grind your beans. The insulating abilities are amazing. It still looks and works as good as it did a year ago. I have since bough two more mugs, one for my mother and one for my brother - both of whom had raved about mine. They both love theirs just as much. If you are a coffee lover, I cannot recommend this product enough! "great single serve french press" My husband loves the coffee from a french press. I got him this one so that he could take it with him, especally on camping trips and to the office with out the worry of glass. He loves it! This unit makes enough for more than one serving, but he drinks it as a single serving.

"easy and convenient", Bought this as a gift for my husband, who was suffering from bad office coffee. He loves it and has found it easy to use. "Pressed coffee anywhere", These are great! I already had one & bought this one for my wife. She loves it. She wanted one because unlike the other French Press travel mug she has, this one has a screen over the hole you drink from thereby completely eliminating any grounds from getting through to you. Plus, with the extra storage feature you can take a cup to go. All you have to find is a source of boiling water. We think they're the best travel mug ever! "A Great Mug", I use this mug during my commute to work. Overall I'd say it works pretty well and I have been very satisfied with it. I just put maybe 3 tbsp of coarse ground coffee in the bottom, fill it up with hot water about an inch from the top, wait a few minutes and press the plunger down. My complaints: If you let the coffee sit in the mug for a while it starts to taste funny. I think this is because all the grounds are still in the mug and affect the taste after a while even though they're trapped in the bottom. This problem is kind of inherent in the design so it's not really an issue. Also, I was surprised at how warm the outside of the mug got. It seems to keep the coffee warm long enough, but I didn't expect the outside of the mug to get so warm. Overall, neither of my problems with the mug will stop me from using it, and I would probably buy the product again. "Perfect for my needs!", This travel press is great! I use it for making tea. Once I press, the double screen keeps the leaves out of my tea. It also keeps the tea HOT for a long time! The mug is very easy to clean out by hand. I haven't used the container for holding extra tea yet, but I know it will come in very handy at some point! My only complaints are that the press is made of plastic that feels a little cheap (I would prefer aluminum or something like that) and that the mouth hole doesn't have a cover! If it tips, it will spill! Having said that, it is still the best travel press I have found! "Best travel press I've owned", Great little travel press. The grounds always come up around the plunger on these things, but with the screen in the drinking hole, no crunchy coffee! I thought the spare grounds holder in the base was kinda hokey, but turns out it is sorta useful. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Excellent french press", I bought this same french press at REI expecting the best and that's what I got. The storage compartment in the bottom of the mug is air-tight and stays put. The coffee stays warm and the press surprisingly keeps all coffee sediments out. The press is supplemented by the wire mesh in the mouth of the mug. The only negative, which is not a negative for me since I bought this mug primarily for my desk, is that there is no cover for the mouth. So if you are driving, the coffee/tea may splash. However, the mug is designed with an indentation on the top to compensate for smaller overflows. Overall, great product. I usually would not pay near this much for a mug but in my estimation, it was worth every penny! "Don't buy this...", unless you just want a bad thermos mug. It does not make good coffee, I tried various things like putting my own filter on it - in the end there is too much coffee powder that this just does not filter out. I blame the cheap plastics for this. [not to compare, but] I love coffee, and I decided to get a the mr. coffee espresso machine from walmart and I love that. "Really interesting design, still needs some work.", I am a coffee lover and I want to love this mug a little more than I actually do. The base where you can store ground coffee is great, and works really well. However, I like strong coffee and the claim that you can store 2 pressings is not true for me. Holds enough for one. The French Press part works fine, but it is not really appealing to drink out of it after pressing, as the screen is not that tight and some sludge gets out. I end up using it as a pot when using the french press, and pour into another cup. The other top is pretty poorly fitted. It works well enough to carry it around upright and use as a travel mug, but if it tips, this top will fall off and spill all your coffee. My 18 month old granddaughter thinks it is one of the best toys ever invented, and will often spend a happy 20 minutes assembling all the various parts. All in all, has a number of design flaws, and made cheap in China, so should be cheaper. "Great Product", This is a great product, I use it everyday to make my tea in the morning. "Perfect for what you buy it for", I have been wanting for a long time to switch from coffee back to tea, but something other than Lipton. Well after much research I finally found the tea that I have wanted all these years, which is very popular in Chinese restaurants: Oolan. With that and this cup makes it possible to enjoy a nice cup of tea on my drive to work. Get it, you can't go wrong! |
