"Good and bad - things you should Know before buying...." I've had this unit for over 6 months overall it works fine but I had to give it to my daughter as there a few annoyances: 1. The analog tuner is sensitive - you can tune in a station one night and the next night it has to be adjusted (ever so slightly) again. If reception is important spend for a digital tuner. 2. When in the 'OFF' setting, there is a very low 'hum' reminiscent of cheap electronics of 30 years ago. I found this too annoying to remain next to my bed, near my head. 3. I thought this unit would play MP3 formatted CDs (it does not), but it only has an AV input (short cord included). I have a Sony boombox in my workshop that does play this format on CD and I find it quite useful. Overall for the price I guess it works fine, just be should you know what you are getting... "DON'T WASTE YOU MONEY!" This radio gets such poor reception sometimes it simply "blinks" out. You think you lost power or the radio died but then it comes back on. Also when I had it plugged into one of my kitchen outlets I would get static whenever the automatic outdoor light would go on. I had to move it to another room. I bought two because of the price and I wanted a radio for each room. It is huge--way too big. Finding a clear signal for a particular station is also difficult. Like I said in the title, don't waste your money! "good choice" I like this Clock radio, but the only thing I am not very happy is the radio. You need to search the station manually by rolling the small bar on the right side of radio. "Good Buy" Great radio, good sound, easy operation. Only draw back, no radio station scale. Hard to find specific stations, tuning wheel only, have to scroll thru stations. "Sony Dual Alarm Clock Radio w/CD Player" This is an excellent product. I like to listen to books on CD. What our customer's say! "False sony advertising", I returned this thing the day it was delivered. Sony falsely says it's equipped with a digital AM/FM tuner. But the tuner is analog, with a wheel with some numbers stamped on it so you turn it with your finger to search for a station then jiggle it back and forth to try to find the strongest signal. I really appreciate Amazon's no postage required return policy that lets you print a return address label that requires no postage. Mal Sousa "No Battery Backup = Not Worth Considering", If it is unplugged, or there is a power interruption, for just two seconds, it forgets the current time and both alarm settings. I bought one at Best Buy and returned it the same day once I found that out. I would rate this "Not Acceptable". "Love this clock radio!", Great deal on this! For my 10 year old daughter, who loves to listen to cd's and LOVES her mp3 player, this has great sound and is easy to operate. She can easily hook her mp3 up to it, and it is compact to fit on her small end table. For $39.99, I wish that I had gotten one for myself!! "Fits the bill", We were looking for something simple for our grade school children to wake them up in the morning, and this was perfect. No iPod hype, has all the basic features, easy to use, large digital display and good sound quality for a unit of this size. We didn't feel a battery back up was necessary, as our own clock radio has one. We can wake the kids in the event of a power outage. "CD player broke after 9 months", The title says it. I was tempted to title it "Usual Sony Junk" as it's not the first Sony product that has just crapped out for me early in its life. In this case, the CD no longer spins or plays. Also, I found the controls quite complex and niggly -- poor UI is the modern term. But finally having mastered that, it broke. Now it's just a bulky clock and traditional alarm. Not recommended. 
Read this reviews before You buy... "Easy to Use Radio", I love this radio. It is easy to use; has a clock which is easy to read and the sleep feature is great. You are able to set the clock for 90 minutes of listening and then have it go off while you're sleeping. The CD is also great. I'm very happy I bouth it. "No battery backup?!", As a rule Sony makes a great product but the engineers were asleep at the switch with this product. Even the most inexpensive of alarm clocks/clock radios have battery back up and ESPECIALLY with a dual alarm clock (and an aging electrical "grid" where you can lose power momentarily on a regular basis) it makes no sense NOT to have battery back up. The radio is no particular hot shakes either but as this is one of the more expensive clock radios (relatively speaking) out there, no battery back up makes it a "pass it by". "Just what I was looking for", The Sony clock radio with CD player is just what we were looking for in a bedroom clock. I can wake to music and go to sleep with quiet music from the CD player. The three different settings for the display are a very nice feature. For those who do not want much light the lowest setting is great. The large numbers are easy to read also. I totally recommend this product. "great music alarm", very smart alarm, wake u up with your chosen song n put u to sleep in 30/60/90 minutes of playing CD. many great functions! great product. "Replaced an old alarm clock", I purchased this alarm clock to replace one very similar that I had recieved as a wedding present almost 10 years ago. I love it!!! It is very easy to learn to use. It has lots of options for alarm selection. I love the feature that you can select which track on your CD you want to wake up to. The only downfall is that the numbers are really big which causes more light in the room at night that I would like but that's ok. The product is still great!!!! I would recommend this for any couple that needed two seperate alarm times!! |
