"Great Coffee Maker"
Have had this coffee maker for about a month now. Have no problems with it. The Part you dump the water in is no problem for us, we use the faucet sprayer. Makes a good cup of coffee. I like the 2 hour auto shut-off, and the feature to make the coffee stronger, although choosing that does take a lot longer to brew. The clock is fine, no it doesnt light up, but that is no problem, i have plenty of other clocks to look at if it is dark. It calls for cone filters, but we just use the regular filters, never have any overflows or grounds in the coffee. So this is a nice stylish coffee maker for the price.

"Not So excellent coffee maker"
I did not purchase mine through amazon just a large Brick and Mortar store. Like many that have reviewed this coffee maker I too find the opening for where you pour the water very small. Also the warming plate does just that it keeps the coffee Luke/tepid warm not semi hot. My largest gripe though is the fact that after only five brews the coffee maker FAILED the LCD went wacky I.E Crazy strange numbers and then fizzled out. Lucky the little bit of water left finished brewing. After only five brews a pot should not. I would not recommend this product to anyone move on consider Krups or another brand.

"Farberware FCM12SS 12 cup coffee maker"
First...my wife and I read all the reviews of this coffee maker prior to our purchase. Seemed like we were takeing a chance based on the reviews. We based our purchase on the fantastic price for this item. What we discovered after the first pot of coffee was made, was a great product. The only thing I see to me as a problen is when the lid is opened some drips of water run down the back of the pot. The statements made about the small opening to fill the water is not a problem at all to us. We use the sprayer from our sink and it works great. Otherwise we found this to be a great purchase compared to prices we found elseware. Makes a great cup of coffee.

"Lukewarm Coffee Maker"
This coffee maker has to be one of the worst ever designed/manufactured. No only is it cumbersome to deal with, the coffe is lukewarm and not even close to being hot..! We threw it in the garbage after 4 days of use. We sucked up the $25 and chalked it up to experience. This auto shut off after 2 hours in these new coffee makers/pots really sucks too...!!! Definately stay away from this coffee maker..! We purchased it because of the brand name and can't believe Farberware put their name on this coffee maker..?? No more relying on the Farberware brand name.

"Puzzling, to say the least...."
Like everyone else, I found the absurdly tiny opening for the water is a royal pain, & certainly drags the rating for this way down. After setting it up, impressed with the features, & price, I couldn't even see where the water should go, and looked to the instructions, which weren't much help. I finally realized, that despite a huge lid, which is only for the filter, the opening for filling was a tiny, narrow slit towards the rear of the unit. This is way too small, and not only must you be a great aim, but it's quite awkward maneuvering the carafe to enable it to fully empty!

I truly cannot believe that someone, or ones, were paid to "design" this model! What were they thinking???

Oh, well, this is the third coffeemaker I've bought recently, the first two were even even worse, so I'm still undecided if I'll return this, or just live with having to be ultra-precise when filling it.....

What our customer's say!

"Cheap is as Cheap Does", Looks great.. if only they put as much effort into the quality as the facade. The machine function itself works fine: programmable timer, brewing, etc... But there are so many frustrating short-comings it's almost not worth buying despite the $19.99 pricetag.

Yes, the area for filling the reservoir is ridiculously small. You can fill it without spilling if you pour slowly, but this is a poor design that I'm surprised made it off the drawing table. You'd think Farberware was the first company to make a coffee machine.

I've owned mine for about a year and the warming plate has begun to corrode! As in RUST. The company didn't even make the warming plate out of rustproof metals; it's just cheap iron, and poorly coated to boot. When I contacted the company they said it was out of warranty, despite the fact that my problem is a production defect, not a warranty issue. If you buy this machine, just remember, you get what you pay for. 'Nuff said.

"Like a Potemkin village...not much behind the stainless steel facade", Poor design for a few reasons, to wit:
1. Very small area in which to fill the reservior. it is almost unavoidable to spill either into the coffee grounds (no particular harm) or on the counter (more harm).
2. The glass decanter almost always drips, even when pouring slowly. I requested a replacement decanter from the manufacturer thinking that perhaps this was a manufacturing defect, but it was only marginally better in this regard. Also, due to design of the decanter lid, one has to remember to apply pressure to it to keep it from flopping open when filling the reservoir.
3. It makes quite a racket when it brews (and since the brewing time is rather lengthy, you will be listening to it for some time). This bothers my wife more than it does me.
4. When you raise the reservoir lid to replace the filter and refill the reservoir, condensed water from the last brewing cycles drips all over the counter unless one is very careful to open slowly, with a slight shaking motion to drip the water into the filter. And even then, a residual still makes its way to the counter. Again, bugs the wife more than it does me.

"Not What I Had Hoped", I wish I'd looked at reviews before I got this coffee machine, I'd been let down so many times before and I thought this one would finally be worthwhile, it wasn't.

ISSUES:

1. When pouring water in with the carafe it almost always spills down the side onto the counter.
2. After about a month the side part that tells you how much water you poured in just stopped working.

"Don't break the carafe!!", I'm sorry, but the complaints about the small hole to fill is very nit-picky. If you take your time and fill the reservoir slowly, it's totally not an issue. The coffee maker works great on all other levels, but the real problem I have is we broke the carafe not long after we got it (naturally). Ok, it happens, but can you find a replacement anywhere?? We had a Mr. Coffee before and you can easily replace a broken carafe for a fraction of the cost of the coffee maker. I can't even find a replacement on Farberware's site. That brings down the rating as it's inevitbale that someday an accident will happen and the incompatible coffee maker becomes useless.

"Farberware Coffee maker Model #FCM12SS", I hate it !
The water pour-over hole is too small. (I had to modify a funnel to make it easier)
You have to make sure the filter basket "snaps in" to engauge the autu-interrupt feature. Otherwise it will overflow the filter basket.
Requires a special cone-shaped filter #4.
It's not fast.
The steam that accumulates on the lid makes it drip behind the maker when you open the lid to empty the grounds.
The company engineers should be fired. Or at least truly test their designs before they put the company logo on the machine.
And finally, For now, It's a little too tall.

"Good coffeemaker!", Just got this coffee maker recently.
Looks good and makes really good coffee.
For this price, a really good deal!

"makes great coffee", The "well" where you pour the water in is too small, making a puddle everytime I fill it. I makes great coffee though.

"good value, nice carafe, but reservoir tough to fill", I chose this coffee maker after a lengthy quest. I dislike a lot of coffee makers currently on the market, but this one is alright.

These are its strengths:
--tough carafe, thick glass, 12 cup size
--well made carafe lid prevents steam burn during pour and stays on pot
--fits size 4 cone filters, not annoying flat bottom filters
--attractive stainless steel finish
--under $40

These are its weaknesses, all minor except for the last:
--small water reservoir opening causes overspill when filling tank; so maker must be low so you can see into it, and away from items that might be damaged by water
--filter basket must be firmly seated or tank lid won't close
--tank lid must close firmly or coffee won't brew
--lifting tank lid in mid-brew to add coffee or water will power off maker, surely a safety feature, but easy to overlook when you haven't had any coffee!
--carafe markings appear to be different from the (ridiculous but familiar) 6 oz cup standard: in my book, one six-ounce cup of coffee requires two tablespoons of ground coffee. I filled the carafe to the 12 cup line and then measured the contents in a Pyrex fluid measure. Twelve cups in this carafe = 60 ounces, so these are 5 ounce cups of coffee. Adjust your own coffee recipe accordingly.

All in all a good value and I'm pretty happy with it now that I know its quirks.

"Should come with lots of sponges", I just got this coffee maker and am sending it right back!!! The opening to pour water into is tiny so the water ends up all over the counter. When pouring your coffee it also ends up all over the counter. A little side note... I also didn't like that the clock did not light up.
