"Not bad for the price" For what i paid for it, this isn't bad, but i have an enamel cast iron dutch oven from Le Cruset which is much better. The enamel is thicker and when i burn something in it, it comes off. When i burned something in the Lodge, it left a permanent(and growing)brown spot where some of the shine of the enamel is gone and things stick to that spot even more now. If i absolutely couldn't save up for another Le Cruset, i'd buy another one of these in the future. "Love this Casserole" I have this casserole in the cafe color. When I ordered it, I wasn't certain I would like the color, but truthfully, I believe I prefer the more neutral color over the brighter colors. I have yet to use it in the oven 'cause I haven't had it long enough but it doubles nicely as a fry pan. I have fried chicken in it & country style steak with gravy with great results. My cooktop is the kind with cast iron burners, slow but easy on maintenance. Surprisely, this pan is so easy to clean & no worry about ruining the seasoning of the pan or eating non-stick coating. You have to wonder about cooking with non-stick when the manufacturers of non-stick cookware instructions tell you that cooking with it could be fatal to pet birds' respiratory systems. It would be nice if Lodge made a 2 qt. enameled sauce pan 'cause I'd buy one in a flash. I also own a cheaper brand 3-1/2 quart Dutch oven & rice cooks wonderfully in it, and again, it's easy to clean. I now have on order the Lodge 7 qt. kiwi enamel Dutch oven (my husband doesn't know yet) & I can't wait to prepare some homemade veggie soup in it as well as other meals in the oven. Had I known how wonderful Lodge enamel cast iron is, I wouldn't have a kitchen full of stainless cookware that's hardly used. My suggestion is don't make the mistakes I've previously made buying cookware sets - buy individual pieces you know are quality & pieces you know you will use. "Love this casserole!" I have several Le Creuset and Lodge Enamel as well as Staub pieces. The Lodge Enamel are every bit as good if not better than the others. They cook and clean beautifully. On those that I use at high heat (No Knead Bread recipe) I have changed out the knobs with replacement Le Creuset knobs. I love having the ability to cook and serve in the same attractive piece. At the price for the Lodge, I can keep adding to my collection! They make great bridal shower gifts, too (paired with a braising cookbook). "A great value" I own a nearly identical casserole from Le Creuset and this one from Lodge is nearly indistinguishable. More angular but equally beautiful. It's important to understand that a casserole is very different from a Dutch oven. It tends to be much shallower, and is more of a braising pan or a roasting pan. Their functions are not typically interchangeable and it would often be a mistake to use a casserole in lieu of a Dutch oven. This product line from Lodge is simply a great value. Le Creuset should be looking over its shoulder. "THIS IS AWESOME!" I am embarrassed to say that I picked this up for $15, original price of $49.99 on clearance at WalMart...went back the next day to get one for my daughter and they were marked down again to $9!!!! CRAZEEEE! I love mine!!! You can cook on the stovetop, bake in the oven...breeze to clean and beautiful to serve from. I look for recipes to use it! I absolutely love it! I would have bought the last 5 they had for Christams presents...by everyone lives far away...would be ridiculous to ship...THEY ARE VERY HEAVY! It's my favorite piece of cookware...useful and beautiful!

What our customer's say! "My Favorite Pot", Perfect size for singles/couples or for side dishes for families. The cast iron is great for heat retention and durability. The enamel coating allows for more versatility than regular cast. The red is a beautiful color. I have the 3 qt. and the 6 qt. in red and the emerald. I have also bought these as gifts. I love the fact that you can start a dish on stovetop and then transfer to oven, all in one pot. Food tastes delicious and cleanup is a breeze. You can also store your food in the refrigerator in these. It is so easy to use these pots. Some tips from the brochure: The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The black rim on the pot and lid are matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. The knob is oven safe to 400 degrees. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Use for any cooking technique, as well as to marinate, refrigerate, and freeze. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware can be used on gas, electric, ceramic, and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. It is not recommended for use on outdoor grills, or over open outdoor flames. Do not use in the microwave. Cleaning and Care Tips: Hand wash with warm soapy water. Use plastic scouring pads to assist in cleaning. For persistent stains on Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware, soak interior of the cookware for 2 to 3 hours with a solution of bleach, consisting of one teaspoon of bleach per pint of water. If there is baked on food on the cookware, boil a mixture of 1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda in the cookware. I love my mine and use mine everyday. Highly recommend. "Better than mario batali's ", I have had this exact casserole for about a yr and a half now, maybe longer. I love it. I did not get it at amazon, but paid a similar price at a kitchen collection store (the kind you find at outlet malls), go there if you would like to see this collection IRL. The picture does not do this lodge series justice. I think that they are actually prettier than the le crueset version! It is a very deep and rich color, not like the bright tomato color from my computer monitor. It cleans up beautifully, I have not had any issues with any staining. The outside is in perfect shape and looks brand new. I use it on a gas stove and store it in my oven. I use this casserole as a skillet about 75% of the time, but also use it in the oven as a casserole as needed. I figured that there is NO way I could pick up a cast iron skillet with the single handle, so why not save myself storage space by getting something that is basically the same size and depth, but allows me to carry it with both hands in a more safe way. I love it, and would recommend it to anyone looking into enameled cast iron. I *almost* bought a le creuset, but am glad I did not waste the $ and took a chance. I know this pot will probably outlast any of my other pots and pans. Oh, and I have the mario batali dutch oven, the quality and finish of the lodge is MUCH better than the mario batali. Had I known it would have been such a drastic difference, I would have saved $ and gotten the lodge version of the dutch oven, which would have at least matched my beautiful casserole. Oh, a quick cleaning tip, sprinkling some baking soda into the enameled cookware works like magic to get any discolorations or any difficult foods off. "Good Quality, Great Price!", This is my first piece of enameled cast iron ware. I was looking for le creuset style without the price tag. So far the casserole has performed excellently. I had no difficulty with sticking (as some others have reported); the weight is nicely heavy but not unbearable and the appearance is great--I really liked the red color! The price was very affordable--I just placed an order for the matching 3qt dutch oven. I would recommend the Lodge pieces to others who are looking for some affordable and quality enameled cast iron ware. "Lodge trumps Le Creuset for value. Equals for quality.", Have had a Le Creuset enamel cast iron pot for a few years. Very nice, but I never added more pieces because of the exorbitant expense. Then I discovered Lodge of Tennessee. 120-year old company. Got the 6-quart and 3-quart Lodge "Color" series of enamel cast iron Dutch Ovens -- what a fantastic treat! I adore these Dutch Ovens. Other than color and subtle styling differences I cannot tell the Lodge pieces from the Le Creuset. They are lovely, highly functional and surprisingly easy to clean -- even after cooking and storing chili in the 6-quart for days and potato salad in the 3-quart. Five stars is not enough to convey the tremendous value of these Lodge Dutch Ovens, and that's at full price. I've now been giving them away for birthday presents.
